User Image Amjad's father was nearby monitoring him as he went off and played with the other Pesar and Banu within the pride, but the blue masked Pesar didn't mind it all that much. If his father watched him as he interacted, he'd be told of the appropriate and inappropriate things he was doing, giving him awareness on what he should improve to be as good a Pad as his father.

He bounded over to the group of children, a smile on her face, his red eyes scanning over all who were there. He greeted everyone, introducing himself as his father instructed as he should, and took notice of another black colored child in the bunch with pink markings. He smiled once more, deciding he could get in practice with talking to the girls if he struck up some conversation with her and trotted over, a spring in his step.

"Afternoon!" Amjad greeted Nasrin, a smile still on his face, "It's nice out today, isn't it?"

Nasrin had been somewhat reluctant to go off with some of her siblings, not because she was nervous of being out and about, mingling with the other youngsters of the pride.. she just didn't really want to. She was sitting off to the side of the group chatting with her sister and was a little surprised when someone came bounding over and addressed her.

"Good afternoon, pesar Amjad," she greeted him, sounding very sure of herself- she knew the proper ways to address others, she made sure of it so she wouldn't have to fumble around or look bad, "It is a lovely day."

She agreed with him sounding rather cheerful, but she couldn't hide a rather judgmental look as she looked down on him (since she was a bit taller). She immediately recognized that his father was one of the pads that was keeping a watch on the group of them, but she couldn't figure out much more.

"What'e you two talkin' about?" Amjad asked pleasantly, attempting to sound interested in what they had to say. He knew they were older than him, and that the older girls were much different from the younger girls, but he wasn't quite sure how yet. His encounter with Nasrin would be a 101 lesson in women if anything.

His tail wiggled side to side as he spoke to them, obvious excitement in being able to socialize with other children instead of just his brothers and sisters within the den. He gave a wink to Nasrin, something he had picked up watching the other Pesar or Pads interacting with the older girls, and continued, "Or is it a secret?"

As he grew he would become a little more composed with himself, and a little more subtle with his casanova-esque quirks, but for now it was out in the open, and a little endearing to the mothers, but probably not to the younger girls.

She glanced over at Zahira, a slightly older sister who could not have looked less related to Nasrin (and in fact they were not, though they did not realize). She wasn't exactly eager to tell the world what they had been chatting about, though it wasn't really secret-worthy. She was taken aback by the wink and question about if it was a secret, though. And while she composed herself quickly, for a split second her confusion and mild amusement showed.

"Not a secret, no," she said, "Nothing to worry about, though." She could see he was trying to impress them but she hadn't quite settled on an opinion yet and she straightened herself up a bit, daring to put on a small smile.

"Oh, just chit-chat?" Amjad asked, his excitement waning a slight bit from the sheer amount of force it took not to try and topple the older girls over and get them to play-fight with him. It would have probably made for quite an interesting sight, as he was sure that not many families were like his, where his father encouraged his children, boys and girls alike, to play-fight with each other; granted his mom wasn't always happy about it.

"Momma chit-chats with Momma Tai all the time," He said, soundly oddly like a grown woman gossiping as he spoke. It was his version of chit-chat, the feminine kind, considering he had one brother, six sisters and two moms. It'd wear off in time, like his excitement, as he spent more time with his father and brother, learning the tricks and the trades of being a warrior. A good warrior.

Nasrin nodded, chit-chat was a good word for it. And whether or not it was secretive, she was finding this interruption on it to be much less interesting-- though she felt the natural obligation to listen and give him a bit of a chance.

"How big is your family? Your father only has two Banu?"

She was a bit more daring than some might be, especially in a group of mixed ages and genders.. but if she was going to chat it had to be less awkward. If there weren't adults watching, she might have even dared to be more open about her current disinterest. It wasn't exactly a meaningful question, her father did have only three Banu where he might have had more because of his rank.. but while he only had three, he had cubs from five different females in all and that said something (in her opinion). And part of her seemed interested in pointing out exactly who her father was.

Only two Banu? Amjad thought to himself, wondering exactly why only having two Banu would be such a bad thing in the first place. Sure, having more Banu showed a more prominent status within the pride, as his father had told him, but having two wasn't bad. Besides, Mommy and Mommy Tai weren't like other Banu in the pride. They weren't just women to own, his father chose them specifically and they agreed to be with him; they chose to be a family.

"I have a brother and six sisters," Amjad responded, still pondering the reasoning for Nasrin's comment, a serious look mimicking that of his father's crossing his face. "As well as Momma and Momma-Tai."

"Family is important to Daddy," Amjad said, holding his head up high as he did so, a boldness and confidence he inherited from his father, "Not just anyone can come into our family."

His family sounded very small, which might not have been a bad thing but she did her best to remain neutral on the idea. Her family was gigantic but it was supposed to be, her daddy was a Vizier. The attitude Amjad had when defending his family was somewhat admirable, though. She wasn't keen on admitting that.

"My papa is Vizier Tariq'ra'd," she said with a smile confident enough to match his posture, "I have, uh.."

She hesitated, she didn't know the number right off the top of her head so she had to count. She muttered names under her breath, wiggling her toes as she tried to figure out the exact number.

"I have 25 brothers and sisters," she said finally, "And then there is Mama O'tep, Mama Orah and Mama Ukoo."

Holy crap that was a lot of brothers and sisters. Amjad thought sharing a den with 7 siblings, his two mothers and his fathers was kinda crowded, how in the world did any of them find room to sleep? Amjad could barely contain his reaction to Nasrin's words, and though his surprise was mostly from disbelief, there was a small hint of admiration for the man who had so many children to only three Banu, at least he thought it was only to the three Banu.

"So... How often do you get kicked while you sleep?" Amjad asked, his mind having wandered to the unpleasant kicking he on occasion suffered at the hands of his sister's and brother. He could only imagine how it was for her. They probably laid one on top of the other because there isn't enough room on the floor.

Nasrin was quite pleased with the reaction she got from him, knowing it was quite impressive that there would be so many of them in the one family. The other families so large were the other Vizier and the Sultan but she would know better than to boast of her family to one of their sons.. perhaps.

She was a little less pleased by the question he asked, drawing herself up indignantly but holding back a snappy response. It was an unreasonable reaction to a relatively normal question but it was focusing on the wrong thing and that annoyed her.

"Well- well-"

She frowned, calm again but looking less sure of herself.

"Too many times to count?" Amjad joked, laughing a little as he fidgeted where he was. He sisters got kicked a lot, mostly by him, but that was because they kicked him in the first place. Their father found it both frustrating and amusing at times, encouraging the girls to kick the boys back, though he did get some disapproving looks from their mother for that, since she was attempting to raise good Banu, and he was encouraging rough and tumble behavior within them.

He never understood why it was a bad thing to have some rough and tumble in you, it made things interesting. His father had told him a little about his old life and how there were women who were warriors. He'd love to have a woman who was a warrior, like his dad, that way he could spar with her. His father had described it as a deeper connection than simply love, because when you sparred with someone you learned quickly their weaknesses and strengths, and could learn to appreciate them.

"My dad tells us to kick back if we're being kicked, but Momma doesn't like when he says that. Did you know he's a warrior? I wanna be a warrior like him," Amjad rambled, the subject of his father being his favorite. It was obvious that he admired and looked up to his father in every way a son possibly could.

She still did not comment on the kicking when he joked about it, it was really impossible to avoid it entirely at night but she didn't want to acknowledge that. And now the subject was changed so much she couldn't really go back to what she had been trying to focus on. She made another face at the suggestion to kick back, she liked it and it was something she did but she knew it wasn't something that ought to be encouraged. She'd been told about that enough.

"You want to be a warrior?" she repeated, tilting her head. She'd never really met anybody with any particularly strange ambitions and this seemed like one of them. But then, if his papa was a warrior it made sense.

"What are you going to fight around here?"

She sounded skeptical.

Amjad nodded his head with enthusiasm. His ambitions were a little odd, but they were his and he was determined to make them a reality. After all, just because this was a pride full of males, didn't mean that in the future they weren't going to have to defend their pride. What if another pride like theirs decided they were going to raid their pride for the women and the babies? Who was going to stop them if all the males were lazy and fat from having such a cushy life?

"Whatever tries to enter the pride without permission," He said flatly. She sounded so silly to him right now, what else would he fight if not anything threatening the pride? His father would do the same.

"What if in the future another pride tries to take over ours? You'll be glad there's a few warriors around!" Amjad said with the utmost confidence, "Because there are other prides out there, you know. They exist, my Dad's seen them. And some of them are strong, really strong."

Nasrin maintained her skeptical look though the thoughts were failing. She'd like to think there would never be an issue requiring such ambitions but she knew what kajira were, had figured there might be some out there who could come look for them.. and then there were those that might want those that were here.

"Yes, some of the banu are from other prides," she said thoughtfully. She wasn't old enough to really have noticed any pads that were not born here but she learned enough about the other banu while learning about herself and her place here in the pride.

"You'll be keeping us safe, then?" she said, looking him up and down, "You'll need to get a lot bigger."

"I'm not going to stay this size forever," Amjad said, a chide in his tone of voice as he spoke to Nasrin. He wondered if the Banu before him was just not very bright, having to state the obvious to him as if he didn't understand that a Pesar of his size could not at this point in time protect a Banu such as herself. That was ok, though, she may not be bright, but she was still pretty.

"I will keep you, your sisters, your mothers and your friends safe when I am grown," He stated, as if making some sort of promise to her, "I wouldn't make a good Pad if I didn't protect what was mine, and try my best to protect the others."

It was a bit amusing to hear such a young Pesar speaking of wanting to keep what was his, safe, considering he didn't have anything yet. At least it was a good sign of character to know he cared about his future Banu.
