The early summer breeze carried a soft song through the forest. Alot the branches and through the blades of grass. It was the happiest sound in a few miles' radius. A small, red filly was swaying from small hoof to hoof as she hummed the tuneless melody with ease. It had no meaning, no words, it only echoes her inner emotions.
Nerissa suddenly clicked her tongue, breaking off the song. "Where is he?" She asked the empty space around her impatiently. Where was who? Why, the reason for her happy emotions, for her tummy butterflies. The very reason she was standing at the egde of the forest waiting. He beloved cousin, Lafa, was coming to play with her!
She had not seen him for about a week and she was already complaining her mother's poor ears off about how much she missed him. How much she missed flying. "Where oh where is he?" She asked again, this time with a bright smile and a sweep of her stunningly white mane.

"Come fly with me, come fly, let's fly away. If you could use some exotic booze, there's a bar in far Bombay. Come fly with me let's fly, let's fly away." It was the song he sang to his cousin while they were flying. Lafayette was not much of a singer, but the notes felt good in his throat, and the words slipped off his tongue as he sung them. He tilted to the side a bit, veering to the east towards his uncles home down by the delta with a roll and another flap of his wings. He was already late, and he knew the lashing he was going to get from Nerissa when he got there, another moment and he'd never hear the end of it. "Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru. In llama land there's a one man band, and he'll toot his flute for you." The bright spot of red on the green grass caught his eyes and he turned his nose down. "Once I get you up there, where the air is rarified, we'll just glide, starry eyed..." the landing was smooth and he needed little preening before he trotted over to Nerissa. "Sorry I'm late, Chevalier was pitching a fit today."

Hearing the sound of familiar hooves on the tall grass behind her the red and white filly whipped around in a jump and stared at her older cousin with what she called her I-am-very-upset-with-you face. Though it mostly consisted of her puffing her cheeks up, lowering her head, and trying to glare. Her eyes always laughed and gave her away though. All her family had to bite their lips and contain their giggles whenever they saw it. She was really convinced that they thought she was angry, and they didn't want her to be hurt. And to be truthful, it was adorable. "Your late!" she informed him, as if he didn't already know. Then she trotted up to him, holding her knees unnecessarily high in attempt to seem even more angry with him, and snorted on his chest. Being a young filly, and Lafa being already a young adult, there was little else she could reach on him.
