When you don't keep much company, things could get lonely on occasion. It was times like this when Stag ventured into whatever town that was nearby and look around, and perhaps even talk to some people, until they either annoyed him or he stole something.

Today was different though. Stag was new to this area, and he hadn't gotten the chance to really get to know the town. He'd established the places that he would hit most often -- the busier shops that sold things for basic living, like food and candles and utensils. He hadn't checked out any of the restaurants or cafes or specialty shops yet. They were smaller, and usually not as busy. If he had gone in, and had been one of the only few customers, the clerk would be able to keep an eye on him. And he didn't like that.

The town was rather busy today though, which pleased Stag. He didn't want to cause a scene..and if he had wanted to procure an item from one of these small shops, it would be wise to buy it with money. After all, he didn't see himself as a completely skilled thief. Not yet anyways.

So Stag had done the most logical thing. Spotting a crowd of people, he bowled his way through, saying "Excuse me" and "Pardon me". When he was out of the crowd, he had two wallets. He peered inside and stared at the foreign symbols on the coins and bills. He never did learn what exactly meant what. Shrugging, he decided he had at least enough for a meal and went inside an interesting looking tea house.

Brown ears flicked as the bell above the door chimed, signalling another customer coming into The Painted Lady. Things were already busy enough as it was; 8 of Greta's 12 tables were full, and uncannily enough there were quite a few groups seated together. She mentally sighed, preparing herself to get ready and serve someone else. "Yes ma'am, I'll have your croissants to your table in just a minute." Pacifying one of the more impatient customers was something the lycan could usually put up with and still keep a smile on her face, but today was beginning to turn out for the worst in Margareta's world.

She'd sent Nazeil, the only other employee, on what was supposed to be a quick errand an hour ago... and he had yet to return. Buying strawberries from the fruit stand just a block away should have been an easy enough task, but somehow the blithering idiot (an affectionate nickname?) had either gotten lost or distracted. Either way, he'd wound up leaving Greta all alone to deal with a rather busy teashop by herself. It wasn't that she couldn't necessarily handle all the people; to keep her business running she could just about force herself to do anything. Keeping her good mood in tact while doing all the work however, was a completely different thing.

Scribbling down a reminder on her notepad for the woman's croissants, Greta moved in Stag's direction. "I've got an empty table for you right here, sir." She gestured with her tail to a two-person table in close proximity to the door. Greta had already set up the table by putting a menu and silverware there, so it was obvious that she'd be able to take Stag's order at anytime. "I don't recognize you, so I'm going to assume that you've never been here before. Drinks are on the left side of the menu, lunch specialties in the center, and desserts on the right." Greta had a knack for paying attention to detail, and lycats were not everyday customers.

Flipping down his hood and taking off his cloak, Stag looked around the shop and decided that it was relaxing enough. "Thank you." He said, before moving to the table. He sat so he could easily look out the window at the crowd he'd barreled through. They were watching some street performer it seemed like, and were too distracted to notice that a thief had been among them. Likely the ones he'd stolen from wouldn't notice they were missing their wallets until they moved to tip the performer, though Stag hoped that they were stingy, and didn't notice until perhaps they went home.

Well, for the time being, at least, Stag could relax. He set the two wallets in his pocket and picked up the menu to peer at the letters in puzzlement. He recognized the easy words, like 'tea' or 'cake', but most of them were a complete mystery. It was fine with him though. He knew what do do in these situations. Raising a hand, he beckoned Margareta.

Greta's gaze followed Stag's out the window for a moment, glancing at the crowd around the storyteller out on the street. "That guy's probably making a lot of money; he's been out there all week." She commented on the situation, although she didn't really seem to care whether or not her customer had listened to her. Taking a few steps back from the table, she assumed that Stag might take a moment to figure out what he would want to eat or drink. That gave her a moment to set out her priority list of orders.

Greta quickly flipped to the page in her notepad that she'd scribbled her last two orders on to check their statuses. Croissants, still gotta get those. Four chai teas, delivered, but the party is still waiting on their apple cake. Crap. It seemed like things were only getting half done, and in a perfectionist's world, it was not right.

Brown ears flicked observantly once she noticed Stag's hand was raised, and the lycan moved closer to his side. "Are you already decided on what you want?" Honestly, that would be a big help if that was the case. The less time Margareta spent standing around meant the more time she could spend being productive.

Stag nodded. "Yeah. I saw him out there yesterday." He shrugged. "I stayed and listened but they weren't that great. I've heard better."

He nodded. "Ayup." He said, pointing to an item. "I want this." He said, before sliding his finger to the other side. "And this." He had pointed to just a regular chai tea, and some sort of sandwich that was thick with meat. Of course for all he knew, he could have just ordered mud water and beets. "And that will be it, thank you." He said, smiling to her before sliding a wary glance out the window.

Jotting down the order with fluid motions of her pen, she nodded. "Okay. I'l have that ready for you in just a few minutes." Taking the no longer needed menu from the table, Greta walked away from the lycat and headed in to the kitchen. Having just reminded herself of her incomplete tasks, she set to work on gathering the orders together for the other waiting customers.

She took out a tray from a drawer low to the floor and set it on the counter, then took out four plates and put two croissants on each one from the basket that held all the rolls she'd baked that morning. All that she needed now was the apple cake, and that was quickly cut and added to the tray as well. Greta carried the tray back out into the dining area, bringing the food to the parties that ordered it.
