Ominotago padded along, her black paws brushing the surface of the earth lightly as she made her way across the African country. Her tail dropped low as she continued forward. She looked to the sky, just as Umbuji had told her to. Her blue eyes saw that the sky was dark, the clouds blocked out any shade of blue, instead, painting it a dull grey. She knew what this was, it was rain. She looked around for any sign of shelter, and all she could spot was a lone tree. Making her way to the plant, she settled in to wait for the rain to come.

Paws moved across the terrain with speed. Tasunke had places to go. Well, that was a lie, really he just liked to move, really fast, anywhere and anytime he could. Now was one of those times. The brown cheetah was racing across the plains, hoping to make it home in time before the rain set in. It was not that he didn’t like the rain, it was just it was harder to move when the ground was moist, his feet would sink into the damp earth, losing valuable seconds of time, and slowing him down, which he did not like.
Unfortunately though, he could tell that the clouds were just about to open. So, rather than make a dash home in the wet, he headed for the nearest tree.

This tree however, was occupied. Not that Omi minded, she enjoyed the company of others, and as the feline image on the border came into her view, she became excited at the prospect of a new acquaintance. Ever since she’d left her home, majority of her time had been spent traveling, however, she had also met a lot of interesting characters in her time, she just hoped this would be another of those characters. She sat herself on her hind quarters and waited for the animals arrival, watching as it came closer at great speed.

Tasunke was not holding back, he was moving at full speed towards the tree, when he decided he was going to stop there, he had also decided that he was to get there as fast as possible, hence why he was moving so fast. So fast in fact, that he didn’t even notice the lioness who was already occupying the area.
“Oh,” he paused, startled by the other, but not scared; he could easily outrun the lioness if he had too. “I’m sorry, is it okay if I wait here until the rain passes?”

Ominotago watched in awe as the cheetah came to a halt, just in front of her. The animal had speed! She briefly wished she could move as fast as him, though her wish soon disappeared as she realised she was content with the way she moved, and had no need to go that fast. Still, it would be fun.
“I don’t mind, I was just waiting for the rain myself.” She gestured to a spot next to her under the branches. As she did a soft pattering sound began to rise, and the dirt darkened. The rain was falling.
“I’m Ominotago by the way, Omi for short.” She always introduced herself, she couldn’t help it, some habits are hard to break.

“Cool,” he said as he sat next to her. “My name is Tasunke. You from around these parts? I’m pretty sure a green lioness like yourself would stick out. I live not too far from here, but I decided to wait for the rain to pass.”
He turned to face the landscape before continuing. “Good thing I did too, otherwise I’d have been soaked through. Plus I wouldn’t be able to move as fast, though I am getting itchy feet from just sitting here.” Tasunke always liked to be on the move, and when he wasn’t able to move, his mouth usually did a lot of moving in his feets place.

Omi held back a giggle as the cheetah spilled the words from his mouth. He certainly had an active voice. Still, she couldn’t judge, after all, if probed in the right direction she was also prone to letting words flow. “No, I’m just passing through, are you sure you live around? I can’t see anything that would resemble a cave or a den.”
“You certainly move fast, it must be exhilarating, you’re definitely one of the fastest creatures I’ve seen. If you don’t mind me asking, you’re a cheetah right? I’ve heard of your species, but you’re the first I’ve actually met.

“Don’t worry,” Tasunke started. “You won’t be able to see where I live from here. It’s too far away for the eye to see, however, when you can move like I do; it isn’t very far at all.” H’s chest puffed with pride, he really was proud of his running, in fact, there were times when he thought he was the fastest Cheetah in Africa.
“Yep, definitely a Cheetah, no way these babies could move that fast if I weren’t” he said, indicating that his legs were the ‘babies’. “Running is my thing; I dunno what I’d do without it.”
“So where are you headed? I’m assuming you’re going somewhere, everyone is.” He nodded, he almost always was going somewhere, and he was doing it at top speed.

“A cheetah, the first one I’ve met, you should feel special!” Her blue eyes beamed at his red ones. “Wow, you can really move that fast? That’s incredible.” She literally was stunned, from what the cheetah said, it sounded as if he could get anywhere he wanted with relative ease and with little travel time. Maybe she did wish she could move fast, it would certainly be easier to see everything that way.
“I’m headed no where in particular, just seeing where my feet will take me.” She looked down at her paws, they’d certainly done a lot of traveling in the past, but she was not going to stop now.

“And you’ve met one of the fastest too! Definitely a good encounter.” Tasunke beamed at the lioness. Although their conversation had been relatively light, he’d enjoyed her company out of the rain. When his thoughts turned to the rain he soon noticed that the sky had cleared, and that there was no more water falling from the clouds.
“The rain’s stopped, I should be on my way. Perhaps you could race me somewhere? I’m sure you’re not too slow.” He jested, hoping to get in a light race before it was time to head home.

Ominotago smiled. “I’m definitely honoured to have met such a fine Cheetah.” She’d never in all her life imagined that she would meet as many characters as she had and of all different species too. She couldn’t help but think that her life would have been nothing but dull had she stayed with her pride.
“It has too.” She looked out onto the now slightly damp landscape, wondering where to head next. “How’s about I race you to that rock on the horizon? Ready, go!” She took off, not waiting for an answer from the cheetah, he was fast, and she was going to need all the help she could get to win.

“Oh hey, no fair!” He called as she took off. Never the less he was behind her in an instant, and moment later overtaking her and streaking ahead. It was no use, the lioness was no match for his superior speed. Though not wanting to be to harsh on her, he did slow down a little before they reached their end point, so that he did not beat her too badly.
“Well, this is where I leave you. May your travels be fun!” Tasunke smiled and turned and sped off into the distance towards his home.

Omi couldn’t help but laugh as the cheetah overtook her. She couldn’t help but try to give herself an advantage to win, but it was all to no avail. The cheetah was just too fast. “That was fun! Definitely a way to get the joints moving after being cramped and waiting for the rain to pass.” She beamed at him.
“Goodbye!” She called as he left, “It was a pleasure meeting you!” And with that, Omi turned and made her way to nowhere in particular.
