Little noises set him off and he would sometimes stop and look around, listening, for no reason at all aside from thinking he heard something. Most of the time, he stayed pressed close to Esper's side, making it hard for her to walk with the way he nearly clung to her, and when they slept, he was up against her, usually putting his muzzle under her paw or putting his head or arm on her back or neck. While she tried to assure him that everything was safe and fine, he still felt sick. This was his decision, he loved Esper, but he had never been away like this before. Anyone might say that Lesu had been in a bad relationship with the river instead of a good one like Lesu saw it. Lesu had been attached to it, dependent to the point of almost being hopeless. It was Esper who made him breathe in, summon his courage, and step away from its hold.
"It's been a while since we left." They had left more than a week ago and he was doing slightly better than the first few days he started traveling. This time around, he wasn't suffocating close to Esper, but still walking close beside her.

The female had been quite happy being the one to be Lesu's rock. He had been having a hard time at first, and she was doing her best to make sure he was as comfortable as he could be. It must have been hard for him, to leave the waters edge when he was waiting for family. But she offered a soft smile, and continued on their way. They were on their way to meet her father, someone she hadnt seen in quite a bit, though she knew that he was always going to be willing to see her. Geheim loved her, and she loved him back with all her heart.
Her heart beat a bit faster thinking that she had finally done something good with her life. She had found her prince charming, and now she was doing all she could to make sure he was part of her family. She wasnt sure if mother would be there, or any of her siblings, she somewhat doubted it. Her siblings had their own lives, and she hadnt seen them since they had evacutated the lands to find their own selves much like she had. She missed htem though, and hoped one day to run into them. She supposed that it made her rather similar to Lesu in that way. She would love to run into her family again, however she wasnt going to stay in one spot and hope they showed.
"We have, we're almost there." She said warmly, walking closer to him, to bump him with her shoulder with a giggle. She had been thinking about family alot lately. Cubs and happiness. It was something she just could not wait for, and she hoped that one day Lesu wanted what she did.
"You dont have to worry, he's really very nice."

He offered a nervous smile in return, not sure about meeting Esper's father. He was a stranger after all, and one that just happened to meet her. What happened if her father hated him? Would he be forced to leave, never to see Esper again? That idea terrified him as he didn't know what he'd do with himself without her. He was far from her and, now that he was away, did he really want to go back? Back to the river and finding out he felt more alone than before? Now that Esper was here, beside him, he didn't want her to go or be torn apart. Maybe it was the fact he had nowhere else to go and was alone away from the life he once had, but in this new life, away from the river, he had nothing else that was as solid and reliable as she was.
That thought only caused him to move closer to her. "I hope he likes me. What if he sends me away? What if he hates me and says I can't see you anymore? Should I clean up first?" He looked at himself, looking at how plain and ordinary brown he was. What if her father felt she deserved better? Who was he kidding? She did deserve better! She deserved the best of the best!

She chuckled at his paranoia, and shook her head. She couldnt help it. He was so amusing, but adorable at the same time. Here he was, worried that her father wouldnt like him.. When she was sure that her father would like anyone who gave her a chance. She remembered being picked on as a cub, as her own father had been. She was just happy that things were different now.
She nuzzled into his neck and smiled at him reassuringly.
"Dont you worry Lesu.. My father will love you. I know it. And he would never, ever send you away. He cant say that you cant see me anymore, I dont live with him silly!"
She chuckled.
"And you smell clean to me." She grinned, sniffing his pelt and winking.
"Nothing but a little sand and grass smell."
He hadnt seen his pups in a long time. Any of them for that matter. He half wondered if any had survived the savannah on their own though he was sure they had. They had his genes didnt they? And they werent stupid..Chipo had done a good job of raising the group. Of course, they had had a large litter for his first litter. It was rather difficult being a father to six pups. He had done it though, and then as they aged they all left. Leaving him alone and unneeded. He had been meaning to speak to Chipo about the idea of having more pups eventually.. He missed them running around his feet, and he couldnt help but dream of them sometimes.
But he lay on his belly outside his den. Sand and dirt sticking to his pelt, not that it was very obvious. His bright red eyes glittering as he chewed on the old antelope bone. Chipo had gone off for the day, so he was here by himself. He gnawed at the bone lapping at the marrow that fell from it. He loved chewing on bones.. if only he could have more bones more often, and not have to hunt for them.

He breathed deep, reaching up to bat his hair to make sure it looked well. Never had he tried to impress someone, and he never really met other families before. The idea of Esper's father gave him mixed feelings. He was sure to be a good person to raise such a great daughter, but he might be intimidating and possessive, as Lesu would be if he had such a beautiful child.
"Okay. I just hope it goes well." He trotted close beside her and noted that they were coming close to a den, the gaping mouth welcoming others in. In the center, chewing on a bone, was a tanned male of some age, licking his lips.
Lesu's heart clenched and his stomach dropped. Was that...her father?
