While she and her sister were back in Caspia, her new life was not a carbon copy of her old one, she could tell that right away. She hadn't been there for very long and she could already see she had her work cut out for her, though she dared not express this around Anpu. It was too soon to tell just how much she would be able to get away with and she wasn't about to test him so soon.
She was up early, already outside, pulling weeds in her master's garden. She was careful of thorns as she plucked each one with gloved paws and was working diligently as the sun's early rays dappled her dark brown pelt with the shadows of the leaves of the trees that stood over her.
She hummed softly to herself as she worked away, clearing weeds in hopes of getting an early start at sprucing up the garden, what she enjoyed doing most, before the master's mate returned.

Anpu rolled over to one side crossing his paws over his face as the sun's rays hit him full on. God he hated mornings. He wanted to get another few hours of sleep but he had to start his work. If he didn't customers would be angry and then he'd lose business- and he really needed it. He wanted to have a clay hut for his wife when she returned. Then they would both have rooms to do there work in seperatly from the customers. It meant he would have to be less careful about where he splattered blood when working. He wondered half way if that was the reason Chione left to find flowers. The house was pretty disgusting.
Well he couldn't hold back the day anymore and flung his feet over onto the floor. He then gave a stretch and a yawn and meandered outside to do his business. But some part of him seriously forgot he had a slave outside to watch him in everything he did. "Go inside cat and get me sum food." He'd take care of things while she went away.

The feline continued to putter around the messy, overgrown yard that had been placed under her care, her paws moving as delicately as she could make them, although her own clumsiness was evident by the occasional misplacement or drop. It was a good thing she had worn gloves, otherwise she would probably have pierced her paws on many, many a thorn.
Her ears perked and swiveled towards the sound of another stirring. It wasn't her sister, unfortunately, as she had looked forward to possibly spending some time with her once the pair earned a bit of a respite, if they did at all.
No, it was her new master, Anpu.
She stood quickly and dusted her glove laden paws. She gave him a quick bowing nod and tugged them off one by one with her teeth, leaving them in the spot where she had been working.
"Yessah, lemme get cleaned up inna jiff an I'll get ya a nice brekkist goin."

"Ya good you go and do that." He spoke in a half tongue as he really was too tired to get the words out completely. Walking into the woods he had his copy of the 'Caspia times' and took care of everything as he read. He then yawned again and covered his lavatory and walked away towards the garden. He blinked a few times before rubbing his eyes to clear out the dander. 'Cat didn't do half bad with the time it's been working...' He mused to himself as he ploped in his favorite chair outside. Again he picked up his paper and began to read- but it was cut short as he began yelling orders at the house.
"Make sure my coffee is so black that it singes the whiskers off of you without being near it!" He couldn't have his day start without being caffeinated - or heavily caffeinated in his case. It would make his work all fumbly and none of the animals would turn out right without his coffee. He went back to reading his paper. Nothing exciting happening of course, just how Anpu liked it.

"Yessir! T'll be so black y'd think t'were night in a cup!"
She called back as she scrubbed her paws and face in a basin of cool, fresh water. It felt nice, clean, soothing almost. But it was missing something. As soon as the garden was growing nicely and she had roses for the master's mate, she would make sure the paw-cleaning water was of the rose scented variety.
As she mentally made note of this, she bustled to the kitchen space of the small mud hut and began going about what would be her new morning routine. Coffee for the master, made of boiling water and beans that only one wealthy enough in business could have acquired.
Fresh eggs, sizzling meat over a small, well contained fire. All of it took her some time to complete to perfection, but she hoped it would suite his tastes well enough. It was making her own mouth water from it's savory smells.
Once completed, she filled a mug with hot coffee and slathered a plate full of eggs and meat, carefully carrying them on a tray that she brought out to Anpu.
"Brekkist, Master~"

He took one look at the coffee and he was pleased. "You don right slave- er Sheme." He corrected himself and quickly took the coffee and downed it. With a wag of his head from the bitter taste he could feel the beans begin to work there magic from inside of him. Oh how he loved coffee dearly. Without it he really would be a mess.
"You are excused to eat your food." He nodded off towards the rations of fish he had for each of his slaves trusting them to take the right amount to feed themselves. He really was too lazy to tend to either one of them and hey if they ate each others food they would settle it out themselves. The only thing he did was make sure there was enough to feed them weekly.
"And when yer done Sheme meet me in my shop. Going to teach you taxidermy today seeing how good this garden looks." He grinned having some pride in the females talents that it was obvious Sheme herself didn't have. Finishing off his food he walked to the back of the house where all the bodies were piled for him to work on. He grabbed one of the bigger ones and shuffled off towards his work station.
"Make sure you bring the other deer with you. You'll be workin' on that one." Though he forgot he was talking to a cat who wouldn't be able to lift that much even if she tried.

She seemed to brighten at his praise, however it small it might have seemed. He had even used her name! Er, well, a variation... But that was close enough in her books. This was all fine and dandy with her! So long as he was pleased, maybe life in general would be easy enough. She bowed the moment he excused her.
"Yessir, thankee~"
Shemesgisa moved towards the container bearing the rations of fish, from which she couldn't dream of taking more than her fair share. Perhaps if there was a different cat around... But not her sister, never her sister. They were in this life together and she loved her dearly.
She ate her morning ration hastily, not wishing to make her newest master wait. Pleasing him was the key, after all, and when she finished, she found herself standing over the deer corpse... It was obviously too large for her to lift and she was worried. Try to drag it or ask for help? She didn't want to dirty the pelt any more than it already was, seeing as how important the fur was...
Almost shamefully, she slipped into the shop.
"M-m-master?"

Anpu was busy with a bloody knife, the deer hung up on a chain and it's guts spewed on the ground below it. He was about to make another incision on the body as to clean it for further preparations, but a small voice interrupted him as his knife hung in the air. He stopped and turned his hand gripping at the handle tighter and tighter after being disrupted. He was obviously frustrated.
"WHERE - IS - THE - CARCASS - I - ASKED - YOU - TO - BRING?"
He spoke slow but in very loud words. He was not the one to be bothered during his work. Everyone who knew the hound knew that. Again he grasped the end tighter till he was finally so furious that he threw the knife at the wall near Sheme. He was a terrible shot lucky for her or else she would have ended up with a small sergon knife in her side.

Her icy blue eyes widened at the sight before her. Obviously he was far from pleased, whether it was his work frustrating him, or her failure to comply with his request, it didn't matter. He was angry and anger often was taken out on those "beneath" the hounds. Namely, herself and her kin, no matter the blood.
She flinched and cowered to one side as the small knife embedded itself in the wall, quivering with the impact.
"Please forgive meh, Sir! I ain't able t'lift et! I didn't wanna ruin the skin by draggin' et, if ya get my meanin! I just ain't strong 'nough t'carry."
Her tail twitched anxiously behind herself as she awaited some sort of punishment. She couldn't help it that she wasn't strong enough, but given his current demeanor, she wouldn't doubt it if he lashed out at her again.

He was very slow with his work and it was something that frustrated him greatly. But he wasn't going to admit that to anyone but himself and even he had a hard time stomaching it. He slammed a paw down on the table and left his work behind him. It wasn't the slaves fault she couldn't lift the deer and he rather felt bad about taking it out on her.
Anpu though wasn't about to apologize. Instead he mealy took the knife out of the wall and handed it to her. "Clean out the rest of it's guts while I go and get the other carcass." He snarled at her on the way out and kicked his garbage pail littering his office with papers from previous studies he had done and failed. "And make sure all this is cleaned up before I drag the deer in here."
He snarled and walked off towards the back of his house.

She winced, an eye completely closed while the other was partially. She obviously expected some sort of physical pain to come with his anger and frustration. When it didn't, she seemed to visibly relax. Paper on the floor, she could do that. The blood and guts she wasn't thrilled with, but she would have to make do, for sure.
"Yessir!"
As he disappeared out the door, the feline hurried forward, leaving the knife that he had handed her laying on the floor, not questioning the tasks he had placed before her. She was quick to the spilled waste bin and hurried to sweep the crumpled papers back into the bin as fast as she could. She didn't budge until this was done. Once it was, she scurried back to the carcass and retrieved the knife. This work smelled and was bloody, but she was comfortable enough with gutting a critter, as she had done it on the farm enough times.
Using the knife, she cut and peeled away at the cuts within the carcass, doing her best to scrape it all away.

He dragged the second carcass in breathing heavy for only a moment. He hadn't really been blessed in the strength department as well as his lack of speed. But he somehow managed to pull it in and chain it up to another hook ready to be gutted. He sat taking a momentary break to stretch his weak paws before noticing that Sheme had preformed excellently again.
Taking one paw he pushed her aside genitally then stuck his face halfway into the body to see her progress. Damn she worked faster then he did, though the skill obviously wasn't there.
"Looks like a butcher got to the inside of it..." He roughly took the knife out of her paws and began trying to fix her mistake. "We are NOT carving meat to eat here SLAVE...." His frustration levels were rising again but his hand was so far up his work that he couldn't throw anything without damaging a bone or two. So she was safe, for the moment at least.
"COFFEE NOW!" He snarled as more guts fell out of the deer. That slave was not allowed to touch anything inside his shop anymore.

Sheme scrunched her face and stuck out her tongue as she went at the corpse in the most "artistic" manner as she could manage. Unfortunately for her, it wasn't "artistic" at all. In fact, it would seem that she's almost creatively challenged. She was working her hardest and her fastest, that was certain, but she just lacked the skill to carve the flesh away, at least in the way that Anpu was looking for.
She watched him enter the hut warily, still frightened and put off by his earlier outburst. Her frame was tense, ready to duck if he showed any move of flinging any more pointy and potentially deadly objects in her direction. While she had no intentions of shirking any punishment she might deserve, she didn't fancy dying so soon in her new home.
She forced back a flinch as he gently moved her from her position in front of the dripping deer corpse. He didn't seem too displeased, almost calmer than he had been, but looks could easily be deceiving. His tone betrayed him, and his own actions, but she sensed she was safe while he was inside his own work.
"My 'pologies, sir, how I was trained, sir, please forgive me!" She bowed profusely as she backed nervously away and bobbed her head at his order.
"Yessir!"

He grumbled as his paws moved slowly and talentedly like the seirgon he was fixing over the cats mistakes. It hadn't been as bad as he thought but it hadn't been something he wanted to deal with at the start of the morning. He then sat back in his chair and slumped down rapping his toes on the table. This work was going to take him forever to finish. He really needed a talented slave to help him- instead he seamed to have been blessed with twiddle-dee and twiddle-dumb. Stupid Hyde what kind of game with he playing?
With his other hand her took up a clothe and rubbed it over his bloody paws cleaning them. Maybe today was a good day just to go back to bed. But alas he couldn't do such a thing. His work needed to be finished and he had customers waiting on him. so he took back up his knife and stuck his hands back inside of the deers chest. This time tenderly removing it's ribs so it could be added back later when the thing was skinned and bleached.

She watched hesitantly from the door, a fresh cup of coffee held between her paws. It wasn't that she was completely afraid to enter, but having a knife thrown your way might make you a bit apprehensive, no, part of it was pure fascination as he skillfully carved at the deceased animal. Her tail twitched and flicked as she considered the situation, what was to be expected of her, and what she could possibly do to please her new master.
Of course, one of these things would be not being late with his coffee. When he sat down, she nudged the door completely open and slipped inside, head and shoulders slouched subserviently.
"Your coffee, Master~"
She knelt, handing it towards him, with her eyes diverted. He had been in a mood already, this morning, and she did not wish to test her luck any further. His paws were out of the carcass this time, so if he decided to deliver a blow, he was free to do so. Perhaps she could eventually learn his skills, though something in his gaze told her that she wouldn't be touching his tools again. All in all, that would be fine by her, as she would rather be out in the garden, anyways.
