Hello all. Tomorrow will be rather busy. I unfortunately have work until 6 and will be unable to do anything until after wards. My coven and I will be doing a small vegetarian dinner and ritual. This Lammas marks a full year for the coven and so our coven leader said that there may be a surprise for us. ha ha. I'm excited. blaugh

EDIT: No real surprise crying lol. It was just five people, three of the original group, one of my roommates who has been with us since Ostara, and a new 'crone' who is a friend of one of the originals. It was a quiet ritual that took place inside due to a storm sweatdrop . Though it may be a little late, my mate and I may do our own ritual later this week when he gets home.

Quote:
Lughnasadh is named for Lugh, the Celtic deity who presides over the arts and sciences. According to Celtic legend, Lugh decreed that a commemorative feast be held each year at the beginning of the harvest season to honor his foster mother, Tailtiu. Tailtiu was the royal Lady of the Fir Bolg. After the defeat of her people by the Tuatha De Dannan, she was obliged by them to clear a vast forest for the purpose of planting grain. She died of exhaustion in the attempt. The legend states that she was buried beneath a great mound named for her, at the spot where the first feast of Lughnasadh was held in Ireland, the hill of Tailte. At this gathering were held games and contests of skill as well as a great feast made up of the first fruits of the summer harvest.

Wow, if you haven't seen this website, I highly suggest looking at it! There is a lot of deeper meanings to Lammas that seem to get the neurons flowing for me.

favorite section: Lammas is a festival of regrets and farewells, of harvest and preserves. Reflect on these topics alone in the privacy of your journal or share them with others around a fire. Lughnasad is one of the great Celtic fire-festivals, so if at all possible, have your feast around a bonfire. While you're sitting around the fire, you might want to tell stories. Look up the myths of any of the grain Gods and Goddesses mentioned above and try re-telling them in your own words.

Yay! For Lammas/Imbolc selibrations.
Lammas is usualy when a lot of corn and wheat harvesting is done. So, I whent home and made two corn dalls the first one is my past self all the things in my mind I haven't done or wasn't able to do, all my negative thoughts and things I've been yelling at my self for doing or not doing; the second one is my self now and all the things I hope to be and do or achive.
I took my dog on a lond nature walk, watered my garden. Harvested some cherry-tomattows, strawberries, and a small rose. Made dinner: Spinach raviolies, with chopped cherry tomattows and feta cheese on top.
In a little bit I'm going to do a small ritual, and burn my past-self chorn dall. In burning my past self I'm learning from my past, forgiving my self, and allowing positive thoughts to enter my mind and all the negative to flow away.
Hope every ones Lammas/Imbolc was great, Blessed Be!!
