A large yawn began its escape from the lioness' maw, in a display of gleaming white fangs set against dark fur. Though it was a well earned act, as the day was growing complete and the work of catching another meal had passed. Closing her muzzle and reopening her eyes, the one named Ibis peered about the sun stained landscape from her rocky perch. The same old, same old. How much longer were they expected to linger and decay in this deep valley? The very idea made her huff, before her green eyes sank down to spot other lions prowling about. Hn, just some more Atmaja'. And quite a number of them being loud cubs. So long as no one was disturbing her peace, she could care less what they were up to.

With a curl of her tail, the large lioness stayed her ground, with nothing better to do than preen herself and tidy her coat. And why not? Even the most ghastly of females took pride in their appearance. She would do the same.

The young lion moved quietly through the pride's lands, keeping a wary eye out much as he'd been taught but a little too big to be content with sitting in the den all day. Besides, Kay was kind of hoping he'd meet his red friend again. It had been a while since he'd gotten to play with the other cub, and while he loved his brothers dearly there was just something about the idea of having a friend... It didn't matter to Kay that he was Tama and Kafele was Atmaja, though the other had seemed to be bothered by it...but not that bothered.

He slowed as he drew near another lioness, just one of many mostly unfamiliar faces. Perhaps he really had spent too much time so very close under the watchful eye of Indira. But he loved her, and was well aware of the dangers she sought to protect them from. That was why he was always ever so careful when he went out, and was sure to never wander very far.

Hesitantly, he paused for a moment, head cocked as he watched her grooming her fur before offering hesitantly, "It looks very nice." Why he felt the need to say as much he wasn't sure. It just felt...polite he supposed. Or nice. But it was true, her fur was really quite neat and all, and it did look nice. If she was preening because she thought she needed it, then she should know she didn't have to.

Ears flexed back before the lioness found the need to turn her sight. Another lion was approaching, but just who's scent she couldn't quite pinpoint. So she relaxed her front paw away from her grooming in order to glance in the others direction upon the moment he spoke. Oh, a cub way up on these rocky hills? Ibis' brows lifted in bemused silence, as her green eyes analyzed the youth up and down. He didn't seem in any urgency, so just why was he here? Boredom, most likely. Ibis sighed to that common symptom.

"I should hope it does. But now onto business, what are you doing here?" Ah, always to the point Ibis was. The adult kept her eyes on the boy, to see if he'd pull any lying stunts or even flee. Who knew with how quirky cubs could be.

He tensed faintly at the way she looked him over, uncomfortable as always with scrutiny. But maybe she was just looking, maybe she didn't plan on saying anything much to him... The young lion nodded faintly when she said she hoped it did, then paused to consider a proper answer for her question.

"Oh...well...nothing really," Kay finally replied, shrugging slightly, "I...I thought I might look for a friend of mine...maybe..." But he wasn't entirely sure which lions were Ligi and which were not. It was generally not that hard to tell, but not from a distance, and he didn't think he wanted to be that close to one. Still...it had been a long time since he'd seen Kafele... he'd wanted to look at least.

Hn, twitchy little fellow wasn't he? She had only asked a short and simple question. Flexing her ears back and forth, the dark lioness made to stand, the same moment her tail dusting off her legs. The muscle fatigue from the hunt had already faded away, she noted with pride. It was always a secret joy to see just how healthy her older body was remaining, even in these darker days.

Casting her sharp attention back to the boy, Ibis cocked her head in light bemusement. "Oh? No errands to run or business to take care of? What a lucky cub you are." She padded over towards the other, holding no menace despite her daunting size. "A friend of yours? And why should this friend be hard to find?" There was no need for the pride to get into more trouble with unwanted attention. Especially if it was at the expense of an adventurous cub. Blinking away those woes, Ibis flicked her tail against the boy. "And you, what is your name? I hardly recognize your scent or pelt."

Kayin looked up at the lioness when she rose, not particularly frightened of her exactly, just at a loss for how to react. She wasn't being threatening, but she was asking him questions to which he wasn't entirely sure of the answers. Or well, wasn't sure of the 'right' answers. Jabby was much better at this sort of thing than he was.

"Mother usually keeps my brothers and I busy," he tried to explain, "I don't always have a lot of time to play, and it's been a while since I saw him so I'm not sure where he is." Was that a good explanation? He didn't wish to say that he was always training or practicing with his brothers, because that might be suspicious, but...still. 'Busy' was a kind of neutral way of putting it, right?

The lioness snuffed quietly as she tilted her head away. This cub was indeed being careful with his words, if there was anything to read by his body language. Or perhaps he was just a thoughtful and paced cub that took time in any responses? Maybe not. Curling her tail, Ibis drew forward and passed the boy lion to the smooth slopes of the valley walls. It was time to descend into lower lands, before it became to dark to safely tread the stones. And she didn't want to be held liable for any injuries to the cub.

"Your mother is wise then, keeping you so active." And quiet, the lioness mused to herself. While it was a personal comfort to the dark lioness to have so much peace and quite, it was also a disheartening detail. Cubs were meant to be heard and seen rough housing and laughing loudly. But that was a sour myth for this pride, at this time. "Hn, I cross my tail that your friend is safe and sound then." Turning her head, she then barked at the male. "Come on now, no dawdling." It left no room for complaining, and even if it did the lioness was already moving away from the scene. Name or not, she could likely guess the cub's parent and half-heartedly escort him back to the den area.
