Well guys here it is! The thread i promised on monday lol... Drum roll please!!! *cricket... cricket...* sweatdrop

SOOOooooo... Let's get started. The most important symbol in Kabbalah is the tree of life, pictured below:

On this tree there are 12 spheres total (But i can only count 11!?!?!) Don't worry all will be explained in due time.

Now this is a forewarning that this is going to get pretty religious and if you're not ok with that this guide isn't for you.

Now the tree of life represents many things it represents the Judeao-Christian God, It also represents how He created the world.

The spheres on this tree are called sephiroth, let's start with the first called Kether, meaning Crown. (Hmm I wonder why the picture has a crown in it?) whee

Genesis 1:1-1:5(from the JPS Tanakh) "1 When God began to create heaven and earth — 2 the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water — 3 God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, a first day."

This was the creation of Kether and of Daath, Light and Dark respectively (pronounced Da' ath, our wonderful nonexistant ninja sphere ninja ) Kether is where the Divine Himself exists.

Next going up the tree ( question Wait... up? But Kether is at the top?!) Silly!!! mrgreen this tree grows down! Kether is the roots of this tree! (If you're confused already just smile and nod) 3nodding Good, now the next two spheres are Binah and Chokhmah

Genesis 1:6-1:8 "6 God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the water, that it may separate water from water." 7 God made the expanse, and it separated the water which was below the expanse from the water which was above the expanse. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day."

(Water above and below?????) Many scientists believe that at one time there was a sphere of water over the whole earth untill the biblical flood. (Ummm ok... still doesn't make sense...) Look at the verse again maybe you'll understand. cool

Now this was the creation of Chokhmah (the one with the lightning bolt), meaning wisdom, it is a sphere of masculinity. Combined with the two spheres directly below it it creates the Pillar of Mercy one of our God's distinct charicteristics.

Genesis 1:9-1:10 "9 God said, "Let the water below the sky be gathered into one area, that the dry land may appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering of waters He called Seas. And God saw that this was good."

This was the creation of Binah, meaning understanding, it provides a feminine figure (hmmm feminine, earth, possible connection??? wink ). With the two spheres below it it creats the pillar of Severity or Justice, the more commonly thought of aspect of our God.

And this is where i'll leave off for now... i'll be back soon enough and i will keep posting each sphere as we go. After that i'll show it's many links to the tarot and other aspects of magic. In the mean-time please post any questions and i'll answer them when i can. Blessed be brothers and sisters smile
