Tezuka stood dead center of the area where he would be training today, the cliffs off to his right. He squinted in the sunlight, peering off into the distance here and there to see if he could see Lerato coming. In truth he really didn't have to look with his eyes since he could always sense when Lerato was on his way, but it was just easier to rely on his eyes sometimes. His arms were crossed, resting by his abs in the deep opening of his kimono, a comfortable position and a clear sign he'd most likely been there for awhile. "Kid's gonna be late fer 'is own funeral. I swear." He said with a chuckle.

In the distance of the plains a lone figure stood above the grass, shirtless with few scars plaguing the man's chest and arms. "Oi! Tezuka, you think you could get a warmer day?" He chuckled as the gap between the two of them closed. He hadn't bothered to mask his reiatsu since Tezuka was just as adept at reading personal signatures as he was, if not more so. "And I won't be late for my own funeral. It's impossible, seeing as how I'm going to have a wake. I did in my physical life, and I will in this life. Funerals are so... drab, after all." Now close enough to wrap the man up in his arms, he gave the Vice Captain a quick hug, having been out and about much too often to really see him lately. "It's good to see you. It feels like I'm getting to catch up with a brother." He smiled, taking a step back to bask in the afternoon sun. "So, you ready to teach some kido? After all, in doing this you might be signing your own resignation." He chuckled.

Tezuka smiled widely at his friend, embracing Lerato in the quick hug and adding a slap on the back. "Ah, but there's always time to have a second one even if it is a ways away from now." Tezuka chuckled, releasing him. He did miss the man. He was a friend and, yes, a brother to Tezuka, and it had been ages since either of them had spoken what with their different duty rosters and personal agendas. The smile stayed on his face as took a step back and put his hands on his hips, nodding a little at the later remark. "Well, if you eventually succeed me then this training better not have been in vain, eh?" Another laugh. He turned a little bit and eyed the dummies on the hill absentmindedly, bringing his hands about to clap against each other. "So, you ready for this? What should we start with?" Tezuka asked Lerato as he rubbed his palms together.

"Even if I shouldn't succeed you, I'll not let this, nor any other training, be in vain." His voice was fierce, a ray of sun catching his glacier blue irises making them glow with the same passion that perfectly matched his determination. Lately he had been helping out around the academy, tutoring some of the more promising students on the basics of what it meant to be a shinigami; but now was a time for him. Now was a time to further hone his own skills and before him was one of the few men he trusted enough to ask for such training, the others being his captain, Zaine and Zenny to name a few. "I guess we should start with a few Hado since they're more aimed at my fighting style. How about number eleven, then we can skip ahead to thirty three and see how I fare there, shall we?" His tone had leveled out, giving him an emotionless presence about him. Muscles pulled and rippled as he swung his arms behind him; stretching his left arm and obliques first, then moving on to his right. He instinctively pushed his feet deeper into the soil while he waited for his superiors instructions, his feet devoid of traditional japanese sandals and instead were wrapped with cloth that provided him with support while giving him unparalleled freedom.

"Oh, you'll out do me, eventually, man." Tezuka chuckled before clapping his hands once and turning to walk towards the row of dummies at ground level. "Easy peazy s**t right there. I'll get'cha sorted out 'n no time." Eying the nearest dummy he found what he was looking resting in its outstretched arms, forever stuck in an air hug. Stabbed into the very marionette-like being was a kunai, the whip chain laying loosely about the arms as if the links were really some sort of coat to be tossed aside by an imaginary upper class individual to his butler. It was all rather silly in its presentation, making Tezuka smile to himself as he ripped the kunai from the wood's blood-stained surface and gently pulled the chain away from its loosely strewn state. It was weighty in his hand, but most of it was in the blade making it an excellent anchor.

He smiled as he turned around to walk back towards Lerato, standing just short of the man as he lightly hefted the kunai in his right hand. "Alrighty. I'm assumin' ya' know the gist of the kido, so I'm just ganna summarize it n' stuff. 'Kay?" Tezuka gripped the kunai before suddenly whipping around, releasing it in a flash of simplicity. It slammed against the wooden dummy it had occupied just moments before with a loud 'thonk', causing the thing to sway back and forth on its spring pole a few times before settling down. "Hado number eleven. Tsuzuri Raiden, if I remember correctly? ******** it. It'simple s**t. Electricity based. Likes to do that sneaky s**t and creep along what you cast it on. Good for being a ********' d**k to your enemy, but still powerful enough to make sure they know ya' mean business." Tezuka waved his hands here and there about his explanation, a few random faces too. All the while the chain in his hands uncurled before being wrapped around the man's left arm.

A small spike in his reiatsu indicated his imminent usuage. "It's almost like a set it and forget it kido. I mean, look." Tezuka turned his back to the dummy. "I could takeout someone without even lookin' at 'em! Hado 11:Tsuzuri Raiden!" His hand momentarily went aglow with his signature light bluish reiatsu suddenly getting a color change as the yellow harshness of the lightning spat forth and raced down the chain. In seconds it reached the dummy, setting the object into a wild frenzy as it was assaulted by the shock:arms flailing about as it shook on the spring pole. The shocking subsided a few seconds afterward, but the damage was evident, smoke rising from the wooden figure as the smell of burnt lumber filled the air and Tezuka's nostrils. He flared them a little bit as he huffed the smell from his nose before turning back to Lerato, left hand stretched out to let the man have the coiled up chain in its grasp. "Your turn, Slick. An' it's not live anymore so don't worry about any residual shock or nothin'." This was followed with a genuine smile, eyes creased at the corners as Tezuka waited to see what would happen next.

"You sound like you're giving up, Tezuka. That isn't becoming of you." He laughed as he watched his trainer walk and grab a chain with a kunai from the dummy set into a perpetual hug. "Reminds me of someone I knew from a past life." He chuckled as he remembered one of his few friends and how she seemed to always be offering those around her the friendly embrace. Standing back he watched as his old friend explained the kido in the barest of terms which lead to Lerato shaking his head as he stifled a chuckle. 'No one could ever say he wasn't blunt about his teaching methods, that's for sure.' He thought to himself. He took careful note of the slight increases in reiatsu and how it transformed into electricity as it flew down the chain and radiated from the kunai anchor. "Oh, this one'll be lots of fun." He said under his breath, the half smirk touching down on his features as he slowly strode up next to Tezuka.

Something deep within him shook when he grabbed the chain from Tez's grip and an unconscious flair of reiatsu threatened to send the kido prematurely. Tightening his grip on the chain he snapped his hand back forcing the anchor to come flying out of the dummies’ stomach and into his other hand. "Sorry about that. I guess I'm just a bit overly excited about getting something new in my arsenal." It was a lie. He was indeed sorry, but he wasn't anxious. In truth he had no idea why his reiatsu had flared like it had. 'It's just like when I first shot off Byakurai...' A scene flashed through his head, back before he had left the academy of the first time he used white lightening and how it had dwarfed those conjured by the others in his class. At the time it didn't seem that odd since his natural reserves were far above those of his peers, but looking back he noticed how strange it was that a student was able to cast the kido so proficiently. That experience had the same feel as just now, the only difference being he was able to stop the kido from firing off this time.

He could feel the energy building up within him the longer he waited. By this time a steady string of bird chirps and twitters were synchronizing themselves into a melody of songs that erupted from his zanpukato at his hip. After a quick nod in his friends direction he released the kunai from his hand, but before it even had time to hit the ground he had snapped the chain as if it were a bull whip and sent the anchor flying at it's intended target, the chain already coming to life with emerald green energy that slowly faded into a bright neon yellow. "Hado #11, Tsuzuri Raiden!" The anchor of the whip sunk in to the dummy about four inches with an almost identical 'thunk' as Tezuka's. Releasing all of the pent up energy into the kido caused the metal spring of the dummy to turn bright red, then white as the electric current now flowing through it heated it up, making it melt and keeping it from swaying any longer. Once the dummy had slumped over like a sick child it ignited into flames, "Oops." Lerato looked over to his friend with wide eyes. "I'll make you a new one, I promise." He laughed, rolling up the chain and kunai so it could be hung up for a later use. His intention was never to set the thing on fire, nor to melt the spring, but electrical kido always seemed to become over powered when he used them. "I better work on controlling that, eh? It shouldn't take long. I was able to fine tune my Byakurai to a point where it wasn't.. uh.. uncomfortably dangerous.. and this one should be that much easier." He scratched an itch that seemed determined to drive him insane on the back of his head.

[Sorry, it's just so similar to my shikai I thought I'd make it a hint lol.]

Tezuka chuckled lightly at Lerato's comment, folding his arms as he watched the man almost nervously work the kunai and chain. "If I ever went n' gave up it'd be the death ov me fer sure there, boyo." His smile receded, nodding towards the target while watching in silence as Lerato went about gauging the target. It was over quick, though, surprising even Tezuka as the dummie's structure failed under the weight of Lerato's power with the simple spell. It was, as Tezuka thought, <********' crazy' to say the least. "M'kay then!" He said with a raised eyebrow, turning back to Lerato as he stepped in to steal away the coiled up chain. Tezuka stuffed it away in one of the folds of his kosode, licking the front of his teeth behind closed lips.

"S'what's next, eh? You wanna keep with the hados or go to bakudos or what? Hmm?" Tezuka was pacing as he said this, not really sure of what to think of what just transpired before him. The whole thing with the lightning was a little much, even for his standards of over the top actions.

The ends of his lips turned up into a small nervous smile as he handed over the chain to his trainer, feeling a bit embarrassed at the fact he surprised Tezuka. "It's good to hear you say that. It lets me know that I'll always have someone there to test my skills against." He had begun to chuckle, but his laughter was stopped when he caught sight of the smoldering form that had been the test dummy. Then he saw Tezuka looking at him, eyebrow raised in some sort of silent question. "Don't look at me like that, you make me feel like I'm some type of oddity in nature. My kido don't normally come out like that. The only other time something like that happened was with Byakurai." He explained, rubbing the right side of his face. He had forgotten to shave, the mornings growth just under an eighth of an inch.

"Let's just keep the hado going; get it wrapped up, you know?" He watched, eyeing the man as he paced back and forth, back and forth, now starting to wonder if he did the right thing by learning the previous kido. "How about we start with Hado #31: Shakkaho, then work our way up to #32 and #33." Walking forward he laid his hand on Tezuka's shoulder to stop him. "Hey," he looked up, trying to catch his friend's attention, "are you alright? You look... shaken." The worry in his voice was nothing short of obvious.

[Hey, sorry for changing on you, I just figured it'd make more sense to work my way up through the kido instead of skipping around. If you only want to teach one of them, it should probably be 31.]
PostPosted: Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:55 pm

((Lulz, I only know 33 right now. xD Gotten a little bit busy with other things to take care of that. That and you only asked for Hado 11, 33, and Bakudo 39. Rules, broham, rules!))

Tezuka stopped his meandering, eyebrows shooting up as he eyeballed Lerato with a gaze most would consider describing as complete obliviousness. "Nawh, I'm coo', man. You should know that beh now." Tezuka said, letting a lop-sided smile show through his lips as he shook his head slightly and stepped out from Lerato's hand. "Let's go wit' 33 fa' now." His accent peaked out at this point, letting the world know Tezuka was slipping back into whatever mood he chose to go to with little care for what the repercussions were.

Taking a few steps towards the broken dummy Tezuka put some volume in his voice, letting his reiatsu trickle out from beneath the veil a little as he gathered energy again for the continuation of the lesson. " Hado 33:Sōkatsui. Somethin' a little more up the Cap'n's alley in terms of characteristics, but still available t'all of us here down in the stratosphere. Makes fire magically pop from ya' hand. Lotsa fire. Especially in d'hands of a ********' pyromaniac. Fawkin' beautiful, really." He chuckled as he talked, blue reiryoku dancing on his hand as stared at it and then back at the dummies. "Got 'n incantation too. Pretty gnarly piece o' work. Goes somethin' like dis: 'Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws! Hado 33:Sōkatsui!" With a little jerseyan flare to his pronunciation Tezuka aimed his right hand at the smoldering mess of dummy Lerato had made earlier, letting his reiryoku flow freely as the hado ripped from his hand and flare outward towards the column of dummies.

The fire was wild, but controlled to an extent, consuming its prey and turning the wooden figures into nothing but ash as it ate their lacquered flesh. A snack, in this environment, if anything. Tezuka huffed slightly and then turned back to Lerato, a smile on his face. "Like lightin' the Christmas tree on fir'a or somethin', eh? Heh, your turn." Taking a few steps away from the firing range Tezuka put his hands on his hips and prepared for more interesting occurrences.

Lerato nodded his head ever so slightly as Tezuka’s tone went back to it’s normal carelessness. ‘At least he isn’t asking questions.’ Folding his arms over his chest, he watched in silence as his mentor explained the next Hado. “I thought the Captain didn’t use kido…” He looked puzzled and it wasn’t until he set eyes upon the kido that he understood what Bloodsport had meant by up the Captain’s alley. “I should have guessed it was going to be something like that.” He felt his cheeks reddening in embarrassment having not put two and two together. “It is beautiful.” The crooked grin blessing his features was cast in a blue tinted shadow, the flame heating up the surrounding area.

Stepping out from behind Tezuka, Lerato stationed himself in front of another dummy. ‘Like lighting a Christmas tree on fire… got it.’ The picture, vivid in his mind, made him chuckle. A twelve foot blue spruce wrapped in tinsel and bulbs bursting into flames, the tinsel melting to the needles and the bulbs shattering from the rapid expanding of the atoms. Steadying his reiatsu and forcing his reiryoku into his hand he concentrated on the incantation. Slowly but surely a ball formed in his palm, radiating heat forth. "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws." Reciting the incantation as though it was a well practiced poem Lerato spoke without missing a single syllable, the words flowing from his tongue in a song-like rhythm. Surrounding his hand was a blue flame, fickle in size and generally unstable for his idea kido. A few seconds later the small blue flame extinguished itself.

“Well Damn…” He mumbled. He was sure he knew what had went wrong. He had let his worry cloud his mind and had kept him from releasing an ample amount of energy out for his attack. Shaking off his nerves he let Tezuka’s reaction to his Tsuzuri Raiden. ‘Don’t worry about him, this isn’t about him or his view on you. Just concentrate.’ Rolling his neck he started again, letting his reiryoku seep out and his reiatsu become a thin visible layer about his body, a darker blue at his right hand then anywhere else. "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws." The incantation once again flowed over his tongue, the layer of reiatsu around his hand growing darker and darker until it moved forward into the space in front of him where it grew into a giant ball of bright blue energy. Once he had finished the small verse, the ball of bright cerulean flames rushed forth and spread out, scorching the earth down to the top soil beneath them. A few seconds passed and the area cleared of smoke to reveal the blackened ground. One dummy was still on fire, flames silently licking up it’s length while another one seemed only to be slightly charred.

Lerato took a seat on the scorched earth, stretching while he took a short break. “Better, but still needs a certain amount of finesse, wouldn’t you say?” Thinking about it, the question could have been rhetorical so the young man continued, “Next time, I’ll draw it back some. I think I know now just how much energy to put into it so it’s a decent size and so I won’t have to sit down afterward and catch my breath.” He laughed. The scent the swam around them was priceless, reminiscent of his home in the summer before his death.

‘Alright, time to get this s**t right.’ Lerato took in one last deep breath before pushed himself off of the ground and back onto his feet. He felt his head start to swim from getting up so suddenly but concentrated solely on the task at hand. After igniting his reiatsu and focusing it into the palm of his hand he spoke the words that had come second nature to him by now, “Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws.” He threw forward his hand making it seem like he was literally trying to push the kido from his body. A blast of blue fire, larger then normal for his rank but still within range, ripped forth from his hand licking at what vegetation had been left from his previous attempt. Tezuka had been right. When the hado was controlled it was rather like lighting a Christmas tree on fire. With a small smirk placed precariously on his lips he turned, eyebrow raised, “Hey,” he called, “you think it’s possible to learn enough control to focus all that heat into a singular point?” He laughed and rubbed his hand on his pants.

Walking over to the lieutenant with a satisfied expression on his face he held up two fingers. “Two down, one to go.” He smiled and lifted his arms up and put his hands on the back of his head. “I guess that means we should get Enkosen done so you can go home and rest, eh old man?” He joked. He wasn’t sure was his friend would do once they were done, but he was going to go bar hopping across the different squad territories. Lerato stood waiting for further instructions, gazing up at the sky as a light puffy cumulus cloud drifted by.

((Sorry for taking so long. Just kinda meh way too often nowadays. Sorry man.))

"Pssh, old man, my a**!" Tezuka scoffed, hands drawing to his hips as he shifted his weight from his right to his left leg. He chuckled regardless and began to make his way back over to Lerato, sauntering casually with his arms flowing slowly by his legs. "Bakudō # 39. Enkosen. Pretty decent if ya' like hidin' behind s**t, but still useful to tha' ev'ryday man. Hell, even I've used it before!" Tezuka laughed a little at his own remark, letting his spiritual energies bubble a little as he drew towards Lerato. Bakudō#39:Enkosen!" Shooting his hands up as Tezuka spoke the shield popped up about a foot away from Lerato. "Lookad'it, man. See the spin? Good s**t, good s**t indeed." Tezuka stood there for a few minutes, hopefully giving his student enough time to examine the mid-level bakudo before letting it shatter into minuscule particles of reishi and dissipate into the air. "Now yo' try it."

Taking a few steps back, Tezuka shifted his weight back to his right leg again, arms folded neatly together as he observed in relative silence.
