The afternoon was well on its was into evening and the air was cooling slowly, making her trek all the more comfortable. Ikinya didn't really have a destination in mind, like she had before. Nowadays, she just felt a little lost and alone. Sure, there was always at least someone to meet for a time and gods know that there were no shortages of interesting folk around. No. What Ikinya was craving was something more familiar. She had seen lions and leopards and cheetahs, oh my! But, her interactions with her own kind were sorely lacking. She did miss it and, above that, she missed her family.
Every so often she'd pick up some tidbit floating around about their parents or how everyone was doing, but sometimes this information came from less than trustworthy characters so who knows how good her information was. It seemed so long ago since she had seen any of her siblings. She wondered what they were up to and how they were? Did they have mates? Maybe she had nieces and nephews she didn't know about. She was torn on whether to hope for that or not. Ikinya did want to know any children her siblings had. The idea of being a total stranger to the next generation of their family didn't sit well with her. Heck, whenever she got around to finding a mate or just some fella that knocked her head over paws, she'd want her family to know her children, should any come her way.
Ikinya paused, arching herself in a stretch before shaking herself out. She'd have to call it a day soon. She was feeling a bit tired and rather thirsty, so water first, then she'd have to find somewhere to sleep for the night. Having had a big meal during the day, her hunger was sated well enough to not have to go hunting or scavenging this evening. Licking her muzzle, she pressed on. There was bound to be water somewhere nearby. At least, the patchy wild dog hoped so. With all this on her mind, she was hardly paying much attention to her surroundings. Every now and then her ears would turn this way or that, but she was sort of off in her own little world.

Being off in their own little world was probably genetic of some sorts. Earthchild was absorbed with a conversation her and her mate had just had the other night and she found herself wandering towards the edge of the pack lands. She looked to the sky, it was clear, the moons beautiful face shone in a welcome to the night. She smiled sweetly and heaved in a strong breath.
"No rain tonight.." She whispered smoothly, tail waving slowly, she had a lot to do it felt like, but right now she was more focused on getting away for a little. Her mind was cluttered with pups, mating and other things she cared not to mention for it felt even to naughty for her own memory. At this she giggled softly and bushes. "Oh Zube.." She mutters lovingly.
that was when she heard a breath, nothing deep.. nothing to weary, and a familiar smell. It was something that seemed to break through her walls of thought, smashed into her brain and burrowed deep. She furrowed her brow and stopped her step, ears flung forward and tail at a medium height, unsure of what she just smelled. "It coudl not be.." She murmurs softly. Figuring she has the upper wind she takes her time to think. "Ikinya."
Earthchilds mind was set, it couldn't be any other then her and that was when her search for her long lost sister came to begin.

Ah, it seemed luck was on her side. Ikinya caught sight of a medium watering hole a little ways off. Weaving through the grass, she paused and looked skyward. She did enjoy the night, especially when the skies were as clear as this and when the moon shone as bright, but it seemed, for her at least, that the best time to avoid having to deal with unwanted predators and competition for food was to travel during the day, since she was on her own and all. The heat was something she had grown used to, but she missed the coolness of night. Feeling a little pick up at the sight of the water, she leaped above the tops of the grass before nearly disappearing again. Her ears and her back could be seen as she meandered through the grass.
The height of the grass diminished the closer she got to water. Ikinya was rather enjoying the feel of the wind against her as she lowered her head to the still water to quench her thirst.
The wind shifted and carried whole new scents to her, bringing one to her attention almost immediately. Ears pricking forward, she seemed to freeze. The scent seemed oh so familiar. "Think, Ikinya..." She urged as she pressed for an answer. When it came to her she stood up again. "Twana..." Could it really be her? Could she be really that fortunate? Ikinya could scarcely believe it if so. Maybe if she leaped out of a bush, she might startle an impala to death for an easy supper. Of course, that may well be pushing her luck.
Angling her head back, she sniffed at the air. It had to be her. No one else in the entirety of her memory matched it. Ikinya looked in her immediate area, spinning in a small circle where she stood, which caused her to take a few steps into the water. Her tail was up about mid-height and wagged faintly. The scent wasn't right on her but she had to be relatively close. If she were truly alone, then she would have reason to worry about calling out, but if she were correct in her assumption, then her sister might be the one to answer her.
"Twana?" She called out, shaking her hind foot that was in the water as a frog had brushed past her ankle, which had startled her slightly.

The winds changed, her mind swirled dangerously and she sighed softly. The scent was gone and she sighed softly. "I knew it.." Her whimpers were soft, almost unheard. Twana could feel heartbreak settle in briefly then a call came over her own sorrow. A cry that matched non-other than a sister she hadn't seen in a long time. A sister she treasured [secretly] most of all. Ikinya was in the Peke Na outskirts and Twana had found her.
"Ikinya!" She beckoned in an almost whimper, she felt light tears on the pelt covering her cheeks. They glistened from her pelt to the moon. She had found a family member, something she'd been longing for such a long time. Still uanbel to see her Twana called again. "Ikinya!" The sound of water splashing echoed and she giggled lightly.
The smell must have startled Ikinya as much as it had startled Twana. The sound, probably the outcome of the startled wilddog. "Ikinya... I've missed you.." Twana's feeling was right and pure. As she rounded the bend, bushes, trees and a small pond in her way.. she found Ikinya. Her tail and a hind leg were dripping lightly, pelt glistening as per usual.
"You haven't changed one bit." She whispered softly in shock and awe, a sibling in the flesh. Her eye's watered even more, tears matching the trail made by the first couple.

There, a call in return! Oh, it felt as though her heart stopped for a minute at the shock and the joy that was overwhelming her. Her breath hitched in her throat as she choked back the urge to just break down. After so long, she could see her Twana again!
"Twana!" She called again and gave a weird little laugh of her own at hearing her sister's giggle. Ikinya moved away from the water to follow her sister's voice. It almost seemed too good to be true. If she were dreaming and woke up right now, she would feel utterly devastated. Right now, it felt as though she was treading on air, flitting like a feather on the breeze. A few elated tears trailed down her cheeks.
When her fair sister emerged and came into sight, she paused and just beamed to her sister. Something close to a whimper escaped her as she closed the gap between them. "Oh, Twana, how I've missed you too..." She spoke in something in something just over a hoarse whisper, as she tried to speak over her emotion. Ikinya chuckled, in fact half laughed and half cried, as she gently nudged her long lost sibling's shoulder with her muzzle. "It has been far too long."

Twana was relieved that Ikinya, the beautiful 'long-lost' being before her, was real. Her entire body relaxed, beyond a slight lump in her belly and thoughts in her mind. She smiled warmly, and was very quick to get as close as possible to her sister. She felt a dire need to be close enough to make sure thsi wasn't just a cruel nightmare fantasized by her unusual sleeping patterns recently.
"It definitely has been far to long, Ikinya. Where have you been wandering? Damu hasn't even heard of you, seems in even longer days for him though?" Twana questioned lightly, speaking quickly as to avoid the tears that were fighting to brim and shower her cheeks more heavily then was already happening. Her eye's glittered in her sudden happiness.
Her tail flicks lightly, showering her scent and the scent of the Peke Na all over her sister. Masking her into the pack until she was ready to leave.. Twana pondered this and corrected her minds statement to 'if she left'. "Will you be staying long Ikinya, please say yes!" She stated excitedly, body language wiggling with excitement. "I have so many.. bundles for you to meet! And perhaps even more, Zube will be pleased to meet a relative of mine."
Getting ahead of herself was easy these days and she barely stopped to breath, realizing she'd taken control of the conversation she laughs in a shy way and smiles, waiting in a calm silence for answers.

It felt wonderful to be so close to her sister after such a long time. To hear her voice, to smell her again, to just be near her, it felt like a dream, but it was real! Ikinya nestled against her sister and relaxed, sighing in contentment. She knew at the back of her mind that she, herself, had been the wayward sibling and learning of her status with their brother definitely cemented this. She bowed her head and smiled sheepishly. "Here, there, and everywhere. I've had no destination in mind and pretty much went where the winds carried me. Oh, how I've thought on you, on all of you." Ikinya gave a thoughtful hum. "I suppose we'll have to send him word of me sometime real soon then. Not now though."
The scents of her pack were intriguing to the long time lone traveler. Not bad, not at all. It made her curious as to the sources and the souls to which they belonged. Ikinya gave a bit of a laugh at her sister's question. "Twana, I don't intend on going anywhere anytime soon. I think I would like to staying put for once. Traveling has been nice, but I think settling would be equally enjoyable. Heh. So, that's a definite yes to staying long." Ikinya paused, blinking to her sister, absorbing the information she had just been given. "Bundles? As in, pups?" She asked a bright, wide grin spreading across her features like wildfire. "I want to meet them all, Twana!" She chimed excitedly. "How many? I want to start memorizing names now! And I'll be glad to meet any mate of yours. They must be making you happy for you look like you are positively glowing."

The wonder of having family so close by was great, she was seated right in the center of perfection, especially as the words from her sister seeped into her head slowly, but surely sinking in. "You'll stay!" Twana, not truly a calm soul was ready to bounce out of her seat, but managed to sit still enough beyond moving her head to stare happily into the eyes of her sister. She was sure the both of them were a little teary eye'd, or maybe she was the only one? She was always so emotional.
"Yes, as in puppies.. though the lot of them aren't nearly puppies anymore. There are so many that even I'm not familiar with all of them. My Zube is such a loving Father to have brought them home and continue to care for them and let me become a Mother. Being a Mother was always my dream... it and being a healer and able to help is the life for me." Her head tilted and she sighed as if slipping into her dream world once again, but the world shimmered and fled so the conversation didn't die.
"Well, we should get you to meeting some others soon and get you familiar with the territory if you're sticking around Ikinya!" It'll be so great to have you around. I've missed everyone so much since we all split up, but life isn't so bad.
