Rhys and Yanya had lived with the Ryans for a year now and Sam had long ago run out of normal things for his children to do. Malls and fast food ball pits had been fine for a while, but now that Rhys had grown, he was harder to entertain. His mother was an occasionally-corporeal ghost, after all, and his father could speak to the dead, and both of these facts were infinitely more interesting than most things. Sam always had an ear open, hoping to hear about some strange new destination suitable for an outing.
Today Rhys and his guardian were checking out the Francis M. Halifax Nonlethal Cosmic Creature Exhibit, or what the locals affectionately called the Alien Zoo. The mage had rented some of those self-guided tour headphones for himself and the spawn, but Rhys was far more interested in tapping the glass at the mammal house and sticking various body parts into the Goluba cages.
"Dad! What's that?" Rhys stage-whispered, jabbing a clawed finger at what appeared to be a large feathered frog.
"A... deosa," Sam provided, reading the little plaque next to the creature's tank. "Their call is reported to be audible for fifteen miles. This is a soundproof tank."
Rhys nodded knowingly like he had actually learned something, but was already moving on to the next display.

Indeed, Llujah seemed to fit right in with the rest of the odd inhabitants of the Alien Zoo. Complete with a wagging tail, small fluttering wings, horns, and halos, as well as a very pink and very girly outfit, he certainly looked a sight. As he innocently walked through the zoo without a care, Belinda could not help but notice the confused stares that came from the other zoo patrons. She was afraid that this would happen, but, thankfully, Llujah did not seem to notice, and if he did, he did not care. He was happy, and as long as that fact remained true, the Eilian was happy, too.
Llujah paraded around the zoo happily, making a point of seeing each and every oddity that was available to see. His escapade led him and Belinda into the mammal house, where he gazed at each of the small animals in their glass cages, comparing his own body parts to those of the animals. He made his way to the deosa cage and gazed at the frog-creature affectionately before looking up at the other boy who was walking away to the next exhibit. Llu's eyes widened and he walked over to the boy, pointing up at the metal structures on the boy's head. "Hey," he asked, "what are those thingies on your head? They look neat!"

Rhys turned distracted eyes from the animal in the next cage - a small ferretish creature that looked to be made of solid gold - and gave the other spawn a long look, breaking into a smile as he did so. His thingies? This other kid had wings coming out of... her... waist and floating rings! Rhys took a moment to bask in the fact that someone with cool parts of their own thought he was cool, but it was short lived, as prideful feelings had by envious people often are. "They're just... I dunno!" he said happily. "I've got 'em here too," he added, raising a foot to point at his ankles. "I'm Rhys! You've got lots of cool stuff on you too! How do they do that?" he asked, dropping his raised foot and gesturing at the ring that hovered around Llujah's horn.

Llujah gazed at the metallic structures on the other spawn's body admirably, noting both the ones on his head and the ones on his ankles. They didn't seem to be any kind of decoration of sorts. Instead, they seemed fused to the boy's body. They reminded Llu somewhat of the metal wings that Fitzroy had, but he pushed the thought aside. Llu looked up to the halo around his horn that Rhys had gestured to and smiled happily.
"That's one of my halos," he explained. "I dunno how they work, but they can hover around by body and stuff. I got this one and one more around my ankle." He pointed down to the halo orbiting his right ankle, then looked by to Rhys and giggled. "They aren't part of my body, like your metal thingies, but they're kind of like little decorations that I have, so it's real neat!" Llu swished his tail back and forth. "And my name's Llujah! It's nice t' meet you, Rhys!"

"Yes! Nice to meet you too!" The boy remembered his manners easily, bouncing in place at meeting a new person. "What kinds of stuff have you seen here?" Rhys and his father had only just arrived around a half an hour ago, and he was curious to know what other strange beasts the zoo held captive. "Do they let you ride any of 'em?" Obviously he had some sort of vision of storming through town on a mighty alien steed.

Llujah smiled at Rhys and pondered a bit. "Well, my mama and I haven't been here for too long, so I haven't seen too much, but I did see a really neat crocodile-bear called a slarox somewhere near the entrance." The Greed spawn nodded. At Rhys's next words, Llu's eyes lit up in excitement. He had not seen any kind of exhibits like that, but if there were some, he would definitely want to ride it.
"I dunno. There was someone riding on top of an elephant-like thing a while back, but that may have just been one of the people who work here. That would be neat if you could ride on 'em, though!"

"Yeah!" Rhys agreed. He looked up at Sam, a well-practiced expression of adorable pleading washing over his face. "Can we look for the elephant thing to ride, Dad?" he asked.
Sam smiled a small smile and pretended to think deeply about the matter. According to the map he had picked up at the gate, there were some good old fashioned pony rides at the center of the zoo. Hopefully, on the way Rhys would either find something more interesting to do or become resigned to riding anything by the time they got there. "All right," he agreed. "If that's okay with you," he asked Belinda.
