User Image It was beneath him to check around before continuing. That would mean he admitted that what he did was wrong, questionable and possibly even distasteful. He lifted his hind leg and used the jagged point of a piece of driftwood to scratch. Ahhhhhh. Synchronized beauty, he used his longer horn to scratch against a trunk, sighing contentment. He was so relaxed he could urinate. Not a bad idea, really.

Hearsay wandered lazily through the swamp. It had been a slow day. A very slow day. There were not words for how slow the day had been. She had found no one of interest to talk to and even Chitchat seemed to have better things to do than spend time with her, she had flown off somewhere that morning and hadn’t returned yet. Even the weather was monotonous and boring; kind of sunny, kind of cloudy, not warm enough to be hot, not cool enough to be cold, not moist enough to rain, not dry enough to feel it. Rumour droned forward, not really caring where she was going, just knowing that it had to be more interesting that where she had been.

A faint scratching sound made her dark ears perk to attention. Horn on wood. Definitely horn on wood. That had to be something, right? She readjusted her bearings and headed off in search of the source of the noise. It didn’t take her long to find, and once she did she wasn’t really sure what to make of what she saw. Well, at least it was interesting.

“Um… hello there.” Hearsay said dryly, raising one dark eyebrow in the colourful buck’s direction.

He hops forward in an attempt to bring a cascade of hair over part of his face and instead makes an intimate introduction with the previously friendly, useful tree. Bark goes up his nose and he coughs most inelegantly and his hair tangles with nearby hanging vines. This was just not his day. Mussed up good, he finally slows and looks at the other doe. Pretty flashy, eh?

This poor buck! He was proving to be just as interesting in action as in appearance. A laughed bubbled up her throat, perhaps more violently than she had anticipated. It took a moment for her to collect herself enough to make the laughing stop. “One of those kind days?” She asked him good naturedly.

“Name’s Hearsay.” She added as an afterthought, by way of introduction.
