I was running... Yeah. right. Doesn't it all start like that? In actual fact, I was just strolling the beach. I live in a house by the beach and there's a cove just down the stairs hewn into the rock. It was AFTERNOON. Can you believe it? Broad daylight. I was just strolling along the beach *cough* *kicking seashells* when I reached the rock pool. The rock pool's always a fun place to be. Starfish, Sea urchins, etc.
Anyway, I was hopping about the rock pools looking for new things that day. No one was around. If they were they would have chided me for horrible recklessness, who hops around sharp rocks? But I was a bit too curious and... well.... curiosity killed the cat... How ironic.
In a sense anyway, Im not actually dead. But I feel hollow. You see, while I was looking into rock pools, one specific one caught my eye. The light seemed to dance on that one, indicating movement, what i have been waiting for. I made my way to the rock pool and bent over. To my horror, a face that didnt belong to me stared back. I heard a loud shriek and The face just burst from the plane and went straight through me. I was terrified! I felt as if it had taken a part of me along with it. I suddenly felt empty, hollow. I looked down at my paw and it gave me the shock of my life to see it in the rock. Then what did I do? Im a guy, but I screamed. I ran home.
After that it wasn't so bad. I never found anything that explained that spectre, but I came to terms with my new power. It was a marvellous gift actually. I could venture to places without being in any real danger of hurting myself. It was killing me, how much i wanted to go back to the rock pool and see it from a different angle. But it also haunted me, because if that .... thing took my solidity the last time, there isnt much for it to take this time.
