Ears perked carefully as the large male dipped his muzzle into the cool stream to take a drink. He was weary, unsure of this new territory he had stumbled upon. There were other wolf smells here, but not of a pack regularly marking this as a territory. Neutral lands, possibly. There were many lone wolves these days, who wished not for some lesser wolf to give them orders.

Sitting at the bank of the small stream, he looked around, heterocromatic eyes striking as he moved a bit, looking in either direction. Hadn't something just moved? Maybe it was merely his eyes playing tricks on him again... He scented nothing upon the wind.

Lips curled into a snarl as he stood to investigate, crossing the small stream to try and gain the advantage of higher ground, and a better wind.

Another wolf went along a similar mission. Though not a complete loner, as she had two other companions, she was indeed without a pack. She had been born in the Outriders, a strong pack belonging to her glorious grandfather. But things had changed and time had passed, and thus she had left with her brother in tow. On their journeys, they had acquired another to follow their lead, thus bringing their numbers to three. The female of the group had dreams of creating a pack of her own, with the other two in the group to be her right and left hand wolves. But today she had sought time away from them, finding their constant bickering and male dominating antics rather beyond her level of tolerance.

"Stupid, testosterone-driven males," she grumbled to herself as she walked along. She had claimed to them that she was doing some scouting, but in reality she had simply wanted to get away. She needed a female moment for herself. Yet it seemed that she wasn't allowed to get as she wished, for in the next moment she scented another male in the vicinity. This was one she did not know, and though she was tired of the testosterone, she was also thinking about adding more members to her 'pack.'

Curiosity perked, the black female followed the trail, nose quivering as she tried to read any messages in the scent. All she could pick up was that this other seemed to be alone, for it was only his scent among the other stale ones that stood out. This didn't particularly bother her, but she did wonder at his reason for being alone. Figuring that it would all be explained in time if she could simply find him out, she continued along, not bothering to conceal her going. She thought that it would probably be best if the other knew she were there, so that she wouldn't startle him into reacting defensively.

The smell of water caused her to lift her head and glance around. She wasn't the best tracker, but she was pretty sure that his scent might be lost if he crossed through the water. Not wanting this opportunity to be lost, she decided to call out and see if he would come to her.

"Hello?" she called out, rather loudly. Her voice echoed off the surrounding trees, and her tail whisked once in irritation. Her earlier mood wasn't completely forgotten, but she would try to be civil if this wolf came to her.

Ivy had that morning picked Aristo to accompany her for some training. The day before had been Holly and the day before that Briar so it was now her little boys turn. Leaving the other two pups in the hand over their father she had nuzzled Aristo awake and set off early that morning. Her pup following along loyally after her.

They had spent the early morning hours learning the many names of plants and what flowers not to eat and what flowers would help with what. Aristo had done very well in keeping pace with his mother though this wasn't unusual as Ivy took great care in making sure her pups understood completely before moving on to the next thing.

As such when the afternoon rolled around she allowed them to stop near a cool stream. She lay under the shade of a flowering tree as Aristo ran back and forth between her and the water. "Stay close my little one." She commented softly as she let her eyes fall closed her ears trained on her son.

Aristo had been beyond excited to go out with his mother that morning, and his energy had yet to diminish. When they had been allowed to stop he had been so excited at being allowed to romp that he almost tripped over his paws three times in his running.

He had splashed through the shallows of the stream making his fur wet with its cool touches. He was pleased with the feel and thus only splashed that much more. As such he caught the sight of the male bounding across the stream and his ears caught the females voice.

He glanced back at his mother who was dozing in the sun. She either didn't hear them or didn't care... either way... these people could be fun. As such he padded downstream just a bit. "Hi!" He called happily his little tail swishing back and forth so fast it slung water.

Viene had been wandering for who knows how long, no recollection of where she came from. She was content not remembering, happy traveling mostly by night. Her dark colors hid her well, and her fluorescent markings scared others away unsure of what lay in front of them.

Traveling by day was something new to her so she stayed close to the bushes and the shadows of the trees. She could hear others up ahead of her, a small pup and an adult female. The pup was so cute, and full of life and energy. It made Viene excited for she was the energetic type and often times forgot that she was an adult.

She had been traveling for days and had not any water nor much food 'sept for what she hunted herself in the night, mostly smaller animals, and a staple of leaves and berries since sometimes prey was scarce. The water looked so good, cool and refreshing. Viene couldn't resist her thirst. In a daze she wandered over to the riverbank. The light reflecting from the water put her in a daze.

Suddenly she was at the waters edge not even realizing how close she was to the other wolves. A voice echoed in her head foggy at first but it snapped her back into consciousness. Her ears perked up and that playful feeling filled her veins. "Oh....why....hhh hello."

Her voice stammered as she often forgot how to behave around other wolves and was seldom in contact with them. She hoped however that they would be friendly. She was foolish to get this close. She kept her head low in respect for the other wolves and quickly lapped up what water she could.

Females. All of them. Three... His two-toned gaze watched carefully over them for a moment before leaving his perch and making his way down the small incline towards them. Interesting... Wanderers, for he didn't smell a pack on any of them...

Well... Maybe that one. Glancing to the pup he moved towards it, chuckling quietly. "You may not wish to wander so far from your mother." He growled gently, scruffing the little one in his jaws and taking him close to his mother once more, dropping him lightly on the grass.
