This is just another example of pointless legislature, and government hands where government hands shouldn't be.

Fresnel Because water is a precious resource that we cannot afford to waste, lest it disappear forever. .......exactly... so people shouldn;t waste it with there 12 Gal. / min shower heads... right? maybe? ur 2nd line looks like u lean towards letting people waste as much as they want and not be worried... so idk where ur playing this one to... question and @junky they arn;t comming after peoples shower heads... there going after manufacturers so that people of tomorrow don;t have as great an option to waste a gross amount of water... unless they have enough money to buy a pre-2010 shower head... which i assume they would if they are planning on paying the 12 Gal./min water bill... xp it;s almost like auto emission regulation (but naked-er)... GM or Toyota can;t make a car that spits out half-burnt leaded gas like u could a long time ago... sad day for people who want that "feature" neutral (non argument part) u know we could have a new pre-ban / post-ban thing going on here... xd "i just bought a pre-2010-ban shower head, so i have full auto water cool " "AWW DUDE! that;s such a kool shower! u can get so clean so fast now!" xd xd idk i'm laughing my a** off at this xp

Massive, dripping sarcasm. You know what happens when I flush my toilet? I do. The water travels through the sewer pipes to the Water Rec facility on 91st Ave in Phoenix, where it's treated into semi-decent water. It's then pumped to Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, where it's further processed. Then it's pumped into one of their four cooling systems (probably the fourth), where after a while it bleeds off into the atmosphere as water vapor (they vent something like four billion gallons of water a year, and the plume is visible from 50+ miles away), only to come down later somewhere else as rain. Exactly how do you expect us to RUN OUT OF WATER?

Where I live we get roughly 60+ inches of rain a year. We have a good sized river that splits the town in two. There's also a spring not too far from here with even more fresh water. Along the river we get our water from there aren't any towns that are in the desert that desperately needed water so we aren't stealing it from people who horribly need it.
I could see how this could be an issue in a middle of nowhere town in Arizona that doesn't get much water and needs to save all the water they can. Around I don't see how it so terrible. I don't personally want a water waster but if it's not causing anyone a problem I don't see the problem.

ok so short of writing an essay, this s**t is hard to explain, so pls give the benefit of the doubt that some reasons i list are going to be weakly proven confused heres a documentarywe all know that 2/3 of earth is water, and only ~2-5% of that is clean drinkable water... so lets be reasonable and agree that, all in all, there isn;t an "infinite" source or water... yes, that 2-5% is replenished as water evap.s from the ocean etc. and rains onto land, but at what rate? is that rate more or less than our consumption rate? i believe the replenish rate is far less than our usage rate... in a world where over 1 Billion people already don;t have access to clean safe drinking water, i don;t think we, as people that do have the fortune of having clean safe water, should be pissing away 12Gal/min (which is like 12 DAYS of drinking water per minute)... but i'm reasonable and agree, yeah people need showers and laundry machines etc, and those things all "cost" water... but a gross 12 gal / min vrs a reasonable 15.-2.5/min... i'll support the low flow xp and a historical point, in the 1970's Saudi Arabia discovered massive aquifers below the sands of there deserts (any and all water from the last 1000 years had drained through the light sand until it hit rock and just stayed there) so they went on a massive expansion of there agriculture sectors, basically giving away free land (like Canada and America back in old west frontier times). all this new agriculture land needed water, so wells were dug and water was pumped out at an alarming rate and soon the saudi gov't realized "hey, we're going to run out of water" so they basically shut down most of there agriculture sector and went back to oil xp current point Coke in Indiapoint being, if you use it to fast, u don;t get to use it anymore for a long while... i.e. if u use 12 gal/min today, that's 5 wasted other days u (or someone else) could have used just 2 Gal/min... honestly... there are no infinite resources... we can run out of oxygen at some point in the future if we for some reason decided to burn down or eat all the plants and tree's (hint hint rain forest xp )... idk, know i'm conservative and whine that i'm a crazy progressive liberal cool and @Rabble: yep alot of places (especially Canada) have alot of water... u know who doesn;t have alot of water? China and India... i wonder how long it will be before some guy in China or India is willing to pay more for ur water than u are? what are ur rates? mine is (ballpark) $2 per 1000 L (~225 Gal)... pretty 1000 poor dehydrated Chinese people would pay more that that... alot more... only need 2 Yen per person to be on par (minus transport fees)... i think they could scrape up a fine bit more neutral ... on the plus side, u may finally pay off ur massive deficit after all mrgreen

I do not care if someone uses 50 gallons per minute in their shower in Michigan. I can literally walk 25 yards from where I'm typing this and drown. Somewhere where water is drawn from the ground and the whole town shares that groundwater? Yeah, I could imagine being pissed at the guy wasting all the water.

Maddness91 i believe the replenish rate is far less than our usage rate... This is the central statement of your argument, and also shows your biggest flaw.

When I first arrived in Boise last year, I took a trip East up into the mountains to Idaho City. Along the way, I followed the path of the Boise river. During the long geographic history of the region, it had cut several deep canyons.
Stopping for photos, I looked down at a primary source of drinking water for my town. I was shocked to see that people were allowed to drive their vehicles, oil leaks and all, down the same path my water was running.
Least you think me the only person in Boise who is concerned about the nature of man made run off, the vast majority of locals, conservatives and progressives, want no more mining upstream from the city.
The water filters into a deep underground layer. Most outlying communities rely on well water for everything. I would hate to find significant traces of oil, gasoline and other unhealthy poisons in my water.
Yet, there they will be.
I'm no liberal. I just want to know that I don't have to fear for my long term health because of stupidity and lack of attention to simple things like keeping poisons out of water.
Just because you manage to get a good rainfall or snow runoff does not mean you're getting clean water.

Just because you manage to get a good rainfall or snow runoff does not mean you're getting clean water. If you're on city water, the city has almost certainly planned for that, and filters the water appropriately. If you're on well water, the people who manufactured your filter planned on it, etc. etc. etc..

If there's an infinite resource, it's water. Seriously, the s**t is everywhere. It falls from the freaking sky. There are literally planet-sized chunks of ice out in space. Most of the earth is covered with it. People are supposedly made mostly of it. The sun will go red and fire will fall form the heavens before we run out of water. I take twenty-forty minute showers, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. Granted, there are areas on the Earth that experience droughts that affect local water supplies, but it can always be had somewhere--hey, it's starting to rain right now!
