One down, two to go.
Seth decided if he was going to talk to some of the other godlings the ones Vale had mentioned would be a good start. Hmm, guy who poisoned him versus guy who he barely remembered. Yeah, that was a obvious choice, even if what he remembered about Writ was little more than him having pointed ears and that he hung out with Quinn at some point.
Unlike Vale he'd take his chances at the front door rather than loitering outside radiating sleep over the building.
He knocked on the apartment door. He'd only just come from Vales place, sometimes he really hated insomnia, no real excuse to just go home and rest. Not that anyone was going to give him a scolding, but he couldn't imagine Percy being happy if he slacked off.

It had been a long time since Writ was with his family- let alone actually doing stuff with them. After stumbling into a god's niche of the universe, and taking a boat ride through the underworld, Allison and Leroy came to the consensus that Writ, despite going through some kind of divine transformation, was still their son; and not a crazy poser man.
It was movie night in le cheatau de Campbell, and Allison was emptying a bag of microwave popcorn into a bowl when there was a knock on the door.
"Coming!" Writ's mom opened the door, popcorn in tow.
Alison looked at the strange visitor, the pale skin, the sleepy; almost dead eyes... She came to the obvious conclusion.
"Writ! Your friend's here!"
"Which friend?" Writ yelled from the living room.
"Uh..." Alison took another look at Seth, "He kinda looks like a vampire!"
"Like, really really pale?"
"Yeah!"
"Oh, that's Seth, he's cool, let him in."
"Alright then." Alison beckoned Seth inside and led him to the living room.
The living room was minimal. A hardwood floor, a window, a place for a small couch. There was a slightly fizzled movie playing on the black-box TV.
Writ was crunching popcorn kernels with his dad when Seth and Allison came into the room.
"Hey Seth." Writ waved a hand over, "Come on down, we're watching Terminator."

Seth would have said something, but he was taken aback at the person who answered the door, he defiantly wasn't expecting Writes family, let alone his mom.
"Err..." Was all he managed to get out before the exchange between her and Writs voice that was coming from somewhere in the apartment.
Being referred to as his friend didn't exactly make him feel any more comfortable either.
The Vampire part, well it wasn't the first time.
Writs parents here, popcorn and a movie this really didn't seem like the best time to try and have a serious talk to him like with Vale.
"Erm, hello Writ..." He was still reeling on how warmly he was begin received considering how few times they'd ever met, one of which he was stoned for.
"I wanted to talk to you, but if your busy..." Apparently Seth could deal with a guy who'd eaten his heart better than watching a movie.

"It's alright, come on, sit down." Writ insisted. He pat an empty spot on the couch. Seth seemed like a guy who'd enjoy a movie. It was a good thing that they weren't watching a zombie movie though- He might get the wrong idea.
Alison sat down between Writ and Leroy, and the two men promptly began to grab handfuls of the buttery kernels.
"So." Writ said between chews, "What's up Seth?"

"Okay" Reluctantly Seth took at seat next to Writ.
Seth thought over how best to try and bring up what he and Vale had talked about, though he was made particularly uncomfortable with Writs parents sat next to them. Then again, considering their reaction to him they didn't exactly seem to care much.
"...I wanted to give you a message about trying to be discreet" His gaze was distracted by staring at the popcorn and Writs mouth.
"Not that I'm singling you out or anything..."

"Wait wait wait!" Writ shushed Seth before he started to speak, "This is my favorite part."
Arnold Schwarzenegger pulled out his gun. Writ held his breath as Arnie raised it, and went, "Hasta la vista, baby." the gun went off, and the frozen cop exploded, the pieces rained down like copper pennies.
"Oh man, I love that scene, he's just all cool, and then he gets up, says 'Hasta la vista' and boom!" His sound effects were accompanied by some very enthusiastic arm gestures, he almost slapped his mom with his arm at one point.
Writ finally heard Seth, and stopped his reenactment to say, "Discreet? Hmm..." He looked up in thought, "What does that mean, exactly?"

"Err..." Seth found himself too flustered to speak again. He just stared blankly at the screen, movie and television in general where all so distance to him, most of his childhood had been spent reading, remembering it now, it was really boring.
"I...suppose" He really had no idea what to say to Writs arm flailing.
He sighed. Somehow, Seth was starting to think he should have taken his chances with Quinn.
"Discreet? Look just...just try to lay low for a while, I'd prefer not memory wiping most of the city"

"Wait, you can do that? That's awesome." Writ was impressed. It wasn't as badass as shooting a frozen, liquid metal entity in the face, but not many people could boast about giving an entire city simultaneous amnesia. Writ could cause some mass chaos, but his god-given powers didn't exactly accommodate what he did. What he did took actual work.
"Oh, lie low? Sure I could do that...." Writ trailed off, spacing out in front of the TV.
His parents had fallen asleep, but Writ only noticed when Leroy had started to snore.
He looked at Seth. Oh. Right.
"You kids get all the luck. My powers aren't anything special."

"Not quite...I mean, I could...but, it'd take time" His own hand gestures accompanied his failed explanation. "...I can't cover for everyone all the time."
"Oh sorry" He'd forgotten to try and keep his sleepy aura contained.
"It's not like I fight anyone, being scorekeeper suits me more..." He trailed off himself, looking back he'd been beaten up more times that he'd have liked back in southern.

"But that's the beauty of it Seth, you don't have to fight. You could make a whole room sleep on your command, and make anyone still awake forget." Writ kept on making his manic arm gestures, he wasn't even watching the movie anymore.
"Man, if I had those kind of powers, I'd abuse them like crazy..." Writ sat back and watched the credits roll.

"Yeah I know that much, it's a lot more potent since I became scorekeeper...but it didn't help much with Vale" He glumly started into his lap while Writ stared at the screen.
But he was right, he could get away with whatever he wanted to now. Really, the thing that held him back was his position was of authority, and he felt he should try and set an example.
"Maybe...I mean, I really shouldn't..."
He hated to admit it, but Writ was tempting him a lot right now.

"Oh come on, what's the use of cool powers if you can't use them?" Writ got up from his seat and flipped through the stacks of DVDs. It was action movie night, leaving Writ to flip through such classics as Rambo, Bad Boys II, and for irony, Hot Fuzz.
Writ liked irony. He snapped open the case and put the old DVD in the player.
"We'll make a day of it." Writ plopped himself back on the couch, "We could have all sorts of fun and nobody will be the wiser." He clicked on the movie through the menu, "You know, because they won't remember."

"I guess your right..." He trailed off, hoping he'd be about to come up with a argument against it. Nothing aside from him being Scorekeeper. Though Seth wasn't doing his job well if he was completely letting it slip his mind that Writ was supposed to be a trickster.
While Writ sorted through DVDs Seth tried to make himself more comfortable, pulling his legs up to sit cross-legged. If he was going to stick around for another movie he might as well.
"A day out? Erm...I don't know what we'd do" He gulped, feeling like he was failing at his half of this. "...Not that I knew much of what people did on southern...aside from stoners"

"Think of it this way, you and me, we're in the same boat, I don't have any idea how people work in this city either. I mean, just the other day, I go up to some kids with some less-than-legal substances, and they just look at me like bunnies in the headlights. People in Southern would've been all over that in a second." Writ snapped his fingers.
"I say we go out in the city for a day, have some 'fun'" He emphasized the word, "And figure this city out."
Writ hoped he made it clear that this wasn't going to be the average, go to the mall for a laugh type fun, this was high grade, divine mischief type fun.

"They would have yes" Seth nodded, if there was anything when it came to dealing with people that he was experienced at, it was dealing with 'substances'.
Seth cast his mind back to Edith, he was relativity clean now, but knowing the drug scene was far less prominent here he wondered how she'd manage. Abuse of his powers came to mind but that wouldn't exactly make her forget her addictions.
"All right then, it'd be nice to forget about this kind of stuff for a while"
Though there probably was a great deal of difference between his and Writs own definitions of what was 'fun'.
