He still wasn't quite sure how he got here.
Way too many things had happened between then and now, and at the moment he was too baffled to really be able to figure out when that turned into this.
"Uhh..." Kay hummed, standing at the front of a recreation centre, staring at a bunch of kids of various ages who were all staring back at him expectantly. While he was usually very good with kids, he was a little too confused to really know what to do right away. He could practiaclly hear Quint laughing at him...and Quint wasn't anywhere even remotely nearby.
"So...What...are we supposed to be doing today?" He asked the crowd of kids. He really didn't know; He never bothered to ask how or why. It was apparently something to do in a group though, since...yeah, there were a bunch of kids staring at him.

Maggie had left Lilah in the rec room only a short time earlier than the strange young man had entered it. She had watched him curiously as he went to the front of the room. Was HE their instructor today? Sweeeeet. He reminded her of a story she had read...but she couldn't remember what one right now. Hm...
He seemed confused. If he was the teacher, shouldn't HE know what they were doing? OH! Was it a trick? Maybe she'd get a reward for paying attention!
She raised her hand, and stood on her tippy toes, and wiggled her fingers around.
"OH, OH! PICK ME!"

Kay leaned on one leg, scratching his bare ankle with his own toenails, a hand on his hip and the other hand raking through some of his dreads. Yes, he was that lost and unsure. It didn't happen often, but when it did...well, it was bad. His one eye surveyed the room, naturally falling on the little blonde with the pretty gold eyes.
Her enthusiasm made him laugh, and after dropping his hands and fishing around in his pockets, he pulled out a rubber band. "Mmmkay! 'Me', What're we doin today?" He questioned in amusement, staring at her while fishing the feathered and feline eared serpent from his hair, having a mild fight with the wiggling thing until he was successful in putting the elastic muzzle over it's snout. Nahual was not amused, and showed it by hissing in pure annoyance; as always, he was ignored by his host.
"And uhh...what's yer name?"

Lilah went a little pink under her tanned skin. She hadn't thought he'd actually call on her (Nevermind that there hadn't been anyone else that had actually raised their hands).
"Um, well...it's...we're," she started, having trouble finding her voice. "I forge-" she started, which seemed to be the answer most kids came up with, when called on (even when they KNEW the answer). "OH! Arts n' crafts!" she said, clapping her hands. "Are we doing Art's n' crafts?"
The little blond girl watched him wrestle with...something in his hair. After a minute, she determined that it was a pet of some sort. Heeeey! Dexter and Mimi and Henry and Sohan had wanted to come, but momma said that pets weren't allowed here!
She repeated as much to the man. "And I'm Lilah," she added, now huffy.

Kay grinned, resisting the urge to laugh at the suddenly shy and awkward girl. It hadn' taken him long to realize that she was a Curio like himself; it was just a sixth sense he had about those sorts of things. So not only was she amusing him, but he was already mildly interested in her; moreso what item she came from and whatnot. The rest of the kids agreed with the whole arts and crafts thing, and the teenaged Shaman looked thoughtful before nodding. Before he could continue though, she brought up something about pets. Pets? He didn't have a---Oh!
"Well yer Mama's more'n'likely right! I can't leave 'im at home though, see?" Still grinning, he grabbed the hissing serpent just under the jaw, tugging the angry little thing, proving that he was, in fact, literally attached to it. Nahual was still not impressed with this turn of events, and headbutted Kay's hand the moment he could. "He's kinda stuck."
"Anyway, Right, good job Lilah! Nice to meetcha, I'm Kay...and I'm apparently your Arts n' Crafts teacher today!" Now that he was getting back on his feet, he was starting to plot ways to get back at the pretty thing for throwing him this far off balance. But, before then...
"So, who wants to pet the snake?" Kay laughed out. And, for once, he meant it literally...no innuendo attached.

Lilah reached up her hand again, but didn't wait for him to call on her. "Why did you glue him to your head?" she asked, with the kind of curious inflection only a child could make. "I don't think he likes it up there very much." She knew her rats might be pretty mad, if she tried to attach 'em to her head. Momma would probably be mad too....
She didn't wait for an answer, though, as she jumped out of her chair (knocking it over, and nearly falling over herself) in an attempt to be the first up to the 'teacher's' desk to lay a hand on the funny head-snake.
"I do, I do!" she exclaimed.

Kay stared at Lilah...and burst out laughing. "Whaaaat? I didn't glue him to my head! I was born like that. This, too." Chuckling, he knocked on the skull half of his face. "Naaaaah...Nahual doesn't like much at all. But s'okay! He can't bite anymore."
It really didn't surprise him that the little blonde Curio was the first one to reach him. Little over achiever, wasn't she? Haha...it was adorable though. Still holding onto Nahual, Kay went to kneel on the ground to be more at their level, turning his head a bit so they could touch the feathered thing.
"So what kinda pets d'you all have?" He asked conversationally, knowing he'd get a myriad of answers from the group of eager children.

Even though she was the first to make it up to the front, Lilah was hesitant as she reached forward to pet 'Nahual'. He didn't seem like he was going to mind it, so she petted his head and giggled. What a funny snake-thing!
This time, she waited for some of the other children to answer first, knowing they'd start shouting stuff, and she wanted to make sure to be heard.
"I've got three wats!" Lilah cried finally, reverting to her mispronunciations when excited self. "And a fwog." She blinked, then coughed. "Frog," she corrected.

Again, the girl managed to make him crack a smile. She was just so eager for everything! It was adorable. Nahual certainly didn't like being touched, and he especially hated Kay for allowing children to do so. He was plotting horrible, horrible things the moment that the band came off of his jaws.
Kay's question received a bunch of answers; Mostly Puppies and Kitties...but the girl named Lilah once again delivered something more fun. "Rats and a Frog, eh? Well well, aren't we a storybook Princess?" He said jokingly, having a notion that he could guess what sort of item this particular girl came from.
"Well well, Show and tell is over. Lets...Hm." Now would be a good time to exact his revenge on their actual Teacher, eh? The one who blindsided him with this? "Lets get the paint, and show your Teacher how creative you all are by painting a mural on the walls!" He threw his arms in the air, his voice as excited as he would be as if he'd just given them the best idea in the history of ideas.

Lilah beamed. Yeeesss. Exactly like a storybook Princess. She was liking this guy more and more. He was certainly more fun than the normal teacher. She was a bit stuffy.
"Paint the walls?" she asked curiously. He seemed really excited about it, but...well. She was iffy about it. Momma let her draw on the walls at home, but those were HER walls, so that made it ok. Momma had always been very specific about being nice to other people property.
Most of the other kids had already jumped up with their paints, though.
