 Hey, You!Are you thirsty?
No? Aw, c'mon have a drink and stay for the night.
New to town? Ha, really? No one new usually comes here.
Yea, we're just a small town, but hell, we sure know how to party.
Yea, here in Tallendale this is probably the most exciting place you'll find.
What? You want to know more about it?
Well, it's a tavern all right, and an Inn I guess.
Though a lot of the people who stay here aren't just staying for the night if you know what I mean.
Yea, as long as they pay people can live here. I guess people like the excitement.
What do you mean this place is classier than you expected?
What, you didn't think we were capable of having waitresses and tables at a small town's tavern?
Ah hell, just take your drink and sit down.p r o f i l e s . o o c

The Tavern, located in the small down of Tallendale, is always the best place to be. With the illustrious owner as it's bartender and it's dramatic staff and regulars there is certainly something always going on. The tavern itself looks like one you'd expect to find back in the good ol' days, but it does have it's modern perks. There's a T.V. for those who don't want to be social and a microphone for the drunks that want to show off their talent. But usually you'll just find people sitting at the bar. Though not always, considering that there are tables scattered about where you can order both food and drink which will be served to you by one of the waiters or waitresses. Yea, it's a pretty nice place for a small town, but most people like it only because it's like a family, even if you're new to town.
Walk upstairs and you'll find the Inn portion of the Tavern, but it's really not much of an Inn since most of the people there aren't planning on leaving. The rooms are nice enough, nothing special. Just a bed, a dresser, a closet, and a bathroom. If you feel like going crazy you can just ask the bartender and she might help you get a fridge or something of that sort in there. Otherwise, it's just a basic room for basic people.
So, are you new to town or what?

R u l e s
oo1. If you’re a beginner role player that’s great, but you’re going to be pushing yourself here. This is a literate role play, and there is no exception to that. One liners aren’t going to cut it, and horribly spelt posts aren’t going to cut it either. That being said, I’m all for people trying to improve, but if you’re new you’re going to have to actually try to do so. If I give you some constructive criticism on your writing you better start trying to incorporate it into your writing. This is about improvement, and if you’re not attempting to improve then it won’t be fun for the rest of us.
The minimum amount you should be posting in a post is five sentences. And please do not attempt to tell me, ‘Oh, Jessie, but I am so horrid when it comes to conversational role play’, because I will not have much sympathy. If you are honestly struggling then PM me and I will be happy to give you some pointers since that is the point after all. oo2. LOLWUT. Chatspeak will not exist in this role play. Not even a little. I don’t care if you think it’s ‘stylistic’ or ‘easier’, it’s just not going to happen. When it comes to grammatical errors I do understand that it’s something to be improved on over time, and I would be happy to help you learn your way around the English language. However, chatspeak is just being lazy, same as with spelling errors. Yet again, as I said in the first rule, you need to come into this role play ready to try and improve your writing.
oo3. I shouldn’t even have to say this but no cybering please. Now, that being said, I’m all for romance, but when layers of clothing start flying off it’s time for the good ‘ol time skip.
Also, just a note on the whole romance subject, please be realistic. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen people fall in love in all of three posts. Yes, in this role play you can say they have known each other for years, but make sure you’re actually building a relationship or acknowledging a preexisting one before you jump onto the love train.
oo4. I love drama, as I believe we all do in a good story. If you have any good ideas for some fun twist or something of that sort please announce it as I would be happy to incorporate your ideas into the thread. However, I need things to be realistic. Do not make yourself an attention whore because your character is not currently in a conversation. That’s just childish and annoying.
Also, violence is encouraged as well when it comes to drama, but it has to make sense. If your character just got released from prison and is quick to anger then let them punch someone in the face. Just don’t have a sixteen year old girl running in to shoot up the bar, please.
oo5. All profiles need to be sent to me in a PM. I don’t need a fancy title or anything, just don’t post it here. And please put effort into your character profile. Your profile determines who others will see your character as, and it is when you make your profile that you are starting off the character development and getting to know your character. If I see any ‘she doesn’t remember her past’, then I will send the profile back to you and tell you to re do it.
This is a realistic role play, no magic, no fantasy. For some writers it’s exceptionally harder to write in a realistic setting since you don’t have as much freedom when it comes to the character so, yes, I do realize this might be a challenge for some of you but that is the point. If at any moment you have a hard time thinking of a history or personality for your character please be sure to let me know as I always have a plethora of character ideas.
oo6. I don’t require super fancy pretty posts, but they sure are nice. I personally like to have a posting layout with a picture and colors and what not, but you don’t have to feel the same way. All that I ask is that you at least have a color or bold your text when your character is speaking just because I feel that that is easier on the eyes. And when it comes to pictures I don’t want some huge image stretching my page, so please don’t make it too big.
oo7. I would love it if this could be a long term role play, so if you join please be intent on posting regularly. That being said, I do understand if you are unable to post for a while for whatever reason, but please let whoever you are role play with know that you will be gone for an extended absence before abandoning us. I’m not going to say you have to post everyday, because I know for some people that just can’t happen. However, if I see that you haven’t posted day after day after day, expect a PM from me asking as to why you haven’t posted.

Being as I have not planned out every aspect of Tallendale and what is in it, I am giving you a lot of freedom to decide such things for yourselves. However, I do ask that you talk to me before you decide to have a character that is a worker at a certain organization or owns a certain piece of land prior to making that character. Here I will provide you with some ideas as to what your character can be, but please feel free to make up another character role for yourself.
If at any moment you are unsure of things, or want to decide who your character should hate and who they should like please feel free to contact me or other members of the role play.

P r o f i l e s Please take your time when making your characters profile. This will reflect who your character and will be what others first get to see about them. It's not a complicated skeleton but don't just write one word for the sections such as 'personality' or 'history'. So yea :]

It was a slow morning afternoon, but that was to be expected. Usually the day dragged on slowly until it reached the brink of the night, for it was at nightfall that life was breathed into the Tavern and Juliet was kept busy. However, it was one in the afternoon and the bell that dangled over the entrance failed to jingle constantly as few dared to trudge into the bar early in the day. Some had come for breakfast, while others had already emerged from their rooms and hurried out the door; though at the moment none lingered in her midst. It was quite unfortunate, but although a thriving business it wasn't always a busy one in the early hours.
But soon things would get a bit more hectic. Yes, it was when some of the regulars strolled their way into the bar or made their ways down the stairs that things always grew more exciting. There was always pointless chatter between she and her regulars, but it was during that time that she enjoyed herself. The cleaning and maintenance were things that she busied herself with during the slower hours of the day, but it was with her customers that she could have more fun while working.
With a quick glance, Juliet looked at the clock that was situated on one of the walls, as though to see if the time had for some reason jumped while she had been lost in thought--but it hadn't. Frowning, she averted her eyes back to the glass that rested in her hands as wiped it and placed it beneath the counter. There were only a few left and when she was done with that she wasn't quite sure what to do. Ah, hopefully someone would make their way downstairs or through her door, for if there was anything Juliet didn't like it was not having anything to do.
A sigh escaped from her parted lips as plopped herself down on her stool placed behind the bar. Things would hopefully pick up soon.

Desmund Haynes"I'm not as think as you drunk I am."
Just after Juliet sat down the bell over the entrance gave the satisfying jingle to announce the arrival of her first customer for the afternoon. Not surprisingly, in stepped a middle-aged man with hints of grey in his hair, glasses, and a well kept goatee. It was Friday, which meant that he'd be staying here for a good long while and also that he wanted to look at least halfway decent given that it was one of the busiest nights of the week. As such, he wore a nice pair of black slacks and black leather shoes that looked fancier than they had actually cost him. Draped around his torso sat a well pressed red button up shirt with the sleeves gently unbuttoned and rolled up to the middle of his forearms. The top two buttons under the collar were also unbuttoned revealing nothing but skin underneath. With a warm and happy smile, Desmund casually stepped up to the bar and said, "Didya keep my seat nice and warm?"
Not really waiting for a response, he swivveled the chair around so that he could sit down and spun just enough so that he could place one foot on the bar beneath the bar. "Damn... it's quiet in here for a Friday." He commented briefly before placing a twenty dollar bill on the bar and nodding to her. She knew what he wanted. Desmund always started the day off with a bottle of Budweiser, no matter what.

Ziva ArmaniThe warmhearted maid. A light, beautiful humming filled the air of the inn as a brunette changed the sheets of a vacant bed. Smiling Ziva checked over her handywork, pleased with the now neat room; it was a vacant room at the moment. Being the tavern's maid, Ziva was in charge of making sure the building was neat, clean and in order. Room wise she only cleaned those that held no occupants, for it was the tennement's job to make sure things were spick and span in their living quarters. "There we go, everything is as it should be. Not a fiber out of place or a spec of dust in sight." She said as she checked over everything. Confidant that the room was clean she picked up her box filled with cleaning supplies and walked out of the room, closing and locking the door behind her.
"It's such a beautiful day out today." She noted as she walked by a window, stopping to glance out at the streets below. Sighing she put down her box only to pick up a couple pieces of paper that littered the window sill. "I swear some people don't know what a trash can is." Muttering lightly she threw the garbage into a nearby bin. Once the litter was taken care of, she picked her box up and continued on to the next vacant room. The light humming continued as she continued down the hall, dress gracefully flowing with each step she took. "I wonder who our first customer is today?" She mused hearing the light jingle of the bell coming from the bar entrance. "Eh, it's probably just the ol' drunkard who stops by everyday. He's usually the only one coming in this early." Without a nother thought she made her way into her next room.

A soft jingle resonated through the Tavern, and it was at that moment Juliet was alerted that she finally had a visitor to keep her company. A smile soon graced her lips, the flawless grin sliding its way onto her features as though it was a reflex to an arrival. It wasn't a newcomer, but a regular's face was one that she always greeted happily. Some likely would've grumbled at the realization of who had just walked in, but Juliet welcomed the return of anyone's whose face did not belong to someone that stirred up trouble. Although a drunk, Desmund wasn't an irrationally violent once, and considering that he was good business, Juliet had to like him.
As he walked towards her she pulled herself off of her stood and planted her feet onto the ground below her. The smile remained of course, and with a swift movement she brushed away some of her crimson tresses away from her eyes. "Well, you're the first who's sat in it this morning, so it's been waiting for you." She said with a small laugh as she watched him settle down in his chair.
Quickly she bent down for a moment, reaching beneath her counter to gather the drink that she knew one of her most valued customers would want. Although it was early in the morning, he wasn't one to wait until the night to party. Soon after she emerged, having popped off the cap of the bottle and slid it across the counter over to Desmund. "Well, you only need two to party, right?" Not that she was about to begin partying so early in the morning. Although the customers could have fun whenever they pleased, she always knew to limit herself.
"So, has anything exciting happened to you in the past day?" It was pointless small talk at that point, but there really wasn't anything better for her to do. Thankfully her workers would begin trickling in soon, which would add a few more people to her pool of individuals to converse with for the time being. Once people got off work was when things grew more exciting, and it would be until that point that Juliet would find herself trapped in meaningless. Not that that mattered.

Desmund Haynes"I swear, Officer, the mailbox jumped out in front of me!"
Seeing Juliet smile always made the day brighter. She was quite the firecracker, but it would take many drinks before Desmund would even THINK about hitting on her. "Thank you, Miss." He said respectfully as she slid him his beer. He caught it quickly and lifted the bottle up to point it toward the nearest light source before tipping it back for a slow pull at the liquid within. Before he removed it from his lips he grabbed a coaster from the edge of the bar and placed it where his bottle would eventually come to rest. With a happy smile he let the lat bit of beer slosh around over his tongue for a moment before letting it slide down his throat.
"That's right, some of the best parties involve only two people, but the more the merrier I say." As he spoke he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small notebook and a pen. If one were to look a bit closer they would notice that the notebook was actually a book full of Sudoku puzzles, half of which had already been solved. He flipped to the first unmarked page in the book and clicked his pen open, dropping his eyes to look at the 81 squares that would eventually be full of numbers. When she asked him about the past day he looked up and took a sip of his drink quickly before answering.
"Stocks rose up a bit, so I made a few thousand bucks, but with this economy who knows when they'll dive again. Either way I'm going to celebrate tonight!" He grinned sheepishly and leaned back in his chair a little since his glasses had slipped down the bridge of his nose just a bit as he'd been looking down and now the only way to see her clearly without adjusting them was to tilt his head back. "So how about you? How's the prettiest bartender in Tallendale been up to, besides work work and more work?"

As Desmund chirruped in about her comment on a party Juliet proceeded to store away the twenty that he left her in the register off to the side of the counter. Swiftly she opened the drawer, a soft ping announcing what she had done, before she slipped the money inside and shut the register closed. It wasn't the first transaction of the day, but for the time being her drawer certainly wasn't bursting with cash. At the moment that didn't bother her though, for it was rather early, and when talking to a customer numbers weren't always the best things to be focused on.
"Well, don't you worry, some more people will probably show up soon." That was inevitable. Between the regular customers that lived upstairs and the workers that would soon make their way to the Tavern that would hopefully become a true statement soon enough. "But for now I guess you're stuck with me." At those words Juliet flashed another one of her flawless smiles.
Strolling back over to the section of the counter where Desmund sat upon the other side, she planted herself down upon her stool, the small seat bouncing slightly beneath her weight as she did so. Later that day she'd likely she running around on her feet, so it was best she sat when she had the chance. "Ah well, it's always best to celebrate whenever you can, right?" It was a logical statement, but it wasn't as though Juliet always lived by it. She could only manage a small laugh when he asked her what she had been up to, for she knew it was quite the easy thing for him to guess. "You say that as though I do anything besides work."
And that certainly never happened.
