Seth stood around the corner of what, according to Percy was where Vale could have been staying. Vague yes, but it was the best he had. Seeing how Vale was the reason he was, for want of a better word, dead, he figured he should meet him.

Okay, he wasn't here for revenge, not really.

Not like he was allowed to do anything like that anyway, he was supposed to be impartial. That was his job now, he sighed, being indifferent was what he was best at after all. So naturally he figured best to have a word with the kid who was liable to go around killing people and eating their hearts, that wasn't going to make his job any easier.

Frankly he didn't think any of the players where going to help in the slightest.

He was sleepy. He supposed this might have had something to do with the fact that he hadn't slept in the past two days, unwilling to delve back into the nightmares his girl had always chased off, and too prideful to go skulking back to Quinn's apartment for the same.

Then again, he was really tired, and his pace was slowing with every step, body strongly suggesting that he simply lay down somewhere and die for a while. That in itself was strange; his predator instincts never rested easy unless he was safely ensconced in his own bed, nook, or cranny.

Therefore, he had an inkling as to what it may be. And so it wasn't with much surprise that he turned the corner to the apartment complex and found one particular Ascended and Scorekeeper loitering outside. He stopped, frowning.

Loitering outside his apartment. The one he'd given to the twins, who'd been nearly driven mad by living with their mother again. That meant Seth was here, for him.

His chin lifted beneath the hood, undaunted, and he strode forward to meet the god, stopping just shy of attacking distance and hands digging into his pockets to keep his fists from curling up.

"V'hat do you v'ant?" he asked, bluntly. "The Scorekeeper has never shown interest in visiting me before."

Probably because his god had not entered by legal means, and probably because Valeriu did his best not to give Persy reason to follow up on the confused child who'd once darkened her storefront.

Normally Seth would have made more effort to keep the sleepy haze he radiated a bit more, but he was sure that'd get Vales attention. Especially now that it spread out far more than ever before. There where probably civilians knocked clean out right about now.

Speaking of.

Nice to see Vale knew his place and kept his distance. He rather liked being the authority figure for once.

"Not just you, but I'd rather you, and the other players try to be a bit more discreet than before" Clearly he was sidestepping they last meeting. "I'll only cover you asses for so long"

Admittedly Seth didn't know anything about Gods entered via illegal means, but really, given his experience Gods weren't the most pleasant bunch so it wouldn't be hard to believe.

His mouth drew down into a deeper scowl. Standing there before Seth, all his godly attributes hidden behind clothes and hoodie, he suspected it was more than that.

"I am discreet," he muttered. "Then, and now. You should be talking to Quinn and Writ, not me."

A thought struck him, then, so that his head tilted, curiously.

"Unless I am the only one whose activities could really draw any serious attention so soon." Quinn was flashy - bright and colorful and unabashed about what he looked like, but he didn't do much. Writ was often the same way - causing havoc and chaos where he went, but his tricks could always be written off as human dissent.

But where Valeriu went, he left heartless corpses behind. People nobody would miss, bad and terrible people, but people nonetheless. Back in Southern, the Blacksuits hadn't cared about the serial killings in Downers, if they'd heard of it at all (and nothing, nothing he'd done had ever made the papers as far as he was aware). Here, it might be different.

"If that is v'hat you are v'orried about, I v'ill keep to Oldpeka."

"Hmph" Well, he wouldn't call him discreet, killing people didn't exactly equal discreet now.

Quinn, he remembered him well enough, he'd attempted to zap him just because he saw a cat once, and subsequently poisoned him. Writ he couldn't recall as much, they'd met once prior to Seths memories being lost, now they where still blurs.

"I need to talk to them as well at some point too." His eyes rolled, not really taking it Vales expression or tone of voice.

Seth would have continued but Vale seemed to have come to a realization of what he was referring to.

"Good, I really can't memory wipe everyone who reads the newspaper if that got out."

"It v'on't." Probably, maybe. "But if you really do not agree v'ith it, you may take it up v'ith my god."

Valeriu smiled, pleasantly, in the way that said he would enjoy watching Seth trying to take on Tezcatlipoca.

Battle of the gods.

"Hn, but maybe it v'ill be good practice for you, da? Otherv'ise your Scorekeeping job v'ill be so very boring. A few exercises to keep you in shape."

His smile darkened.

"Like those men, who murdered all of Southern. Maybe they v'ill make the newspapers."

Every last single Blacksuit there ever was.

Seth looked genuinely confused for a moment. Right his god, well that didn't sound like it would be easier. Admittedly Vales god was a hazy area for him, but if he encouraged eating of human hearts he'd bes way well away.

"You know fighting isn't really my thing" He gave his own smirk in return.

Probably best not let slip he wasn't exactly a god per se yet.

"You know I can't do anything about that, especially not here" Seth sure was pulling a lot more expressions than usual, since he looked rather sad now. He wouldn't have cared much, but that was before he had no idea what his parents looked like.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 23, 2010 2:14 pm

"I don't expect you to," Valeriu replied, dismissively. "No, everyone is so very v'illing to forget v'hy v'e are here, and who put us here. And if they remember, they do not plan to do anything about it."

He stepped forward then, breaking the barrier of distance between them, lips set in a grim line.

"I v'ill take care of it. You just try and keep it out of the papers, da? If you can manage that, Scorekeeper."

He stopped just short again, but this time with only a small radius of distance strung between them.

"Anything else?" The gently mocking bite to his words said, quite clearly, that there was very little Seth could warn him of that he'd feel inclined to take to heart.

Face only returned Vales little speech with a lopsided frown. That was exactly the kind of thing he'd prefer Godlings didn't go round doing that.

Civilians on outlaw parts of town where one thing, Blacksuits where another.

"Papers maybe, the rest of the Blacksuits...well I doubt that"

Seth's sleepy aura bubbled out some more during the tense moment, it'd hardly sent a Godling aside from newbies to sleep, by most people felt drowsy regardless.

"If you get hurt it's your own fault Vale"

What a strange thing for him to say. Valeriu blinked at him, suddenly awash in a new wave of drowsiness, and laughed, tiredly and bitterly. The shadows at his feet shifted, scraping against the pavement, before settling sedately.

"Maybe that's v'hat I am looking for."

His eyes suddenly became a lot keener, a lot more piercing.

"You are the Scorekeeper. Do you know v'hen this Game v'ill finally end?"

Seth watched for a moment, the shadows at Vales feet, not them again. it didn't pan out so well last time....

Great, Godlings that just want to get themselves hurt and fight. No wonder Seth had done so terribly when they'd been in southern.

"End? Percy made it sounds like it would take years" He rolled his eyes, casting a gaze further down the street.

"...especially since it doesn't end until someone wins" Really that was a obvious statement, all games ended like that, though here, the losing side where most likely going to be long dead before hand.

His eyes fell at Seth's confirmation, suddenly disinterested and disappointed.

"Years, huh? Already knew that."

He shook his head, moving past Seth and towards his apartment steps, key in hand. He paused, before turning back to the other Godling, a dubious, desolate look on his face as he hesitated at the bottom step.

"By the v'ay, I am sorry. Not that v'e fought, and you lost, but-" He shrugged, wordless, gesturing at Seth. "This. They v'ould have been kinder to let you pass."

Of course Seth wasn't so bothered about the game lasting a long time, he had the eternity to look forward too. The possibility of living forever was something he was still coming to terms with.

Not that he wouldn't have liked to give him an answer, he'd have liked to know how long he'd be doing this as well.

Seths eyes widened. Sorry?

"Maybe" He sighed. "I've kind of gotten used to it now..." He looked glummer than usual, not looking at Vale but rather the floor beneath him.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 24, 2010 2:37 am

"Used to it," he echoed, rife with disbelief. He scoffed, gently, and turned back to the stairs.

"I v'ill keep your v'arning in mind," he muttered. "For as long as I can."

He started up the steps, giving Seth one last glance over his shoulder.

"Best to return to your duties. If there's nothing else, then good night, Scorekeeper."

"Hmph" No, not quite, he'd probably never get perfectly accustomed to knowing there'd never be an end. There was always Lethe...

"Thanks, hopefully it'll make things easier for all of us..." His voice a little cheerier than usual, still not really looking directly at Vale.

At least this was one potential thorn in his side trimmed for the time being, there where a lot of other godlings that where likely to cause trouble.

"Night" Well, not for Seth anyway, it'd be a day or more til he needed to sleep. Insomnia hardly made divinity any easier.
