Ashakiran was ... just a bit nervous. It was his first full day inside these new pride lands, and apparently he was supposed to go to some kind of lessons. He didn't know this was going to be like. Would it be about hunting, or speaking properly, or ... or ... dancing or something like that? Nooo clue. But he did have the feeling there would probably be a lot of others there who knew exactly what was going on. Which meant he would look stupid. Probably.
Shifting nervously about, the largeish juve was currently waiting on someone to tell him where to go in this big ...whatever it was ... for the lessons. All he'd been told was to come here at this time. Nothing else, really...

Each morning several of them would seek their parents' or uncle's company after the morning prayer, generally just to find out if there was anything they could help with that day. With so many siblings and at least four eager to help with the pride's smaller tasks there wasn't always something for her to do, but today her mother had asked if she and Sher could make sure that each of the cubs got to their lessons.
Their older sister, Sher, who usually took on such a task, wasn't available, and the girls certainly didn't mind.
So they'd gone separate ways and now Maa was making her way through the temple halls just following her nose and ears. There was time yet, so she didn't rush, and it wasn't as if they were going to be scattered everywhere. As she understood it there were just a few new faces that might not know where to go yet. She smiled at the prospect of helping them find their way.
A flash of reddish brown and sandy fur caught her eye as she reached a bend in the hall. Ah, there was one now, in fact! As if his coloring wasn't enough a giveaway (She was quite familiar with all of her cousins.) then the lack of braid was. He hadn't been born here in the lands, but he was young enough for lessons. Lately all the children coming into the pride had been born there, for the most part. It was a joyous thing, for certain, but it also helped sorting new faces out.
"Hello there, young one." She purred with a cheerful little smile on her muzzle as she came closer. "You seem nervous. Are you lost?" She asked, friendly, not teasing, but definitely upbeat.

Asha jumped just slightly when a voice came out of nowhere - having been lost in thought. But then he realized there was an older female talking to him. And she had all kinds of shiny neat jewelry on. Which meant... she was one of the ones actually from this place. And she was really pretty.
C'mon Asha, be cool, be cool. No reason to be nervous. "Uhm... I was told to come here for some kind of lessons but I don't know ... where they are exactly," he answered, shifting his paws around a bit again.

She just grinned a bit as she waited for his answer, unaware and not even pondering the possibility that she made him feel like he had to focus more on staying calm.
"Oh, you've got a bit of time yet, but don't worry. I was sent to make sure you and the other cubs all find their way there. The temple can be a bit confusing the first day or so."
Or at least, that was what she'd been told. Having grown up there, been born and raised there, she knew it better than the back of her own paw.
"I'm Maa-nefer." She left off her title this time so as not to make him feel anymore self conscious, if he already knew her by name then that was different, but she didn't think much of it. Sometimes she introduced herself by title and other times she didn't. Most of the adults knew her already after all.

Oh crap, he was being kind of rude wasn't he? Eek, these lessons better not be about manners. "Sorry... I'm Ashakiran," he replied, smiling a bit. Then he looked around and decided to ask a question.
After all, if she was supposed to help, she wouldn't mind, right? "This place is ... a what? Temple? What's that?"

"It's alright. I greeted you with a question, after all." She giggled, a bit sheepish but not minding. "This temple? It's a place to pay respect to the gods, but it's also our home. Everyone dens here, and above us--"
Maa directed her gaze towards the ceiling overhead, then back.
"--is where our patron gods live, our protectors. The priests and scribes will show you some of the murals sometime soon during your lessons, too. They're my favorite part of the other rooms and halls!"

Asha's eyes widened a little at that. He wasn't at all used to gods living so close! Weren't they supposed to live far away and just watch the mortals down here, or something? This place... was definitely interesting, that was for sure.
"I don't know what murals are, but... they sound pretty cool," he replied, trying to seem like he wasn't a total idiot.

"They're very nice to look at!" She agreed. "They tell stories all on their own. I hope that you'll love them too." She smiled, then finally began to lead them the way they needed to be going. "Come, come! It's this way, Ashakiran."

These ... murals told stories? Okaay. Asha didn't exactly understand, but he guessed if they were something to look at, he would see them anyway. Then maybe it would make sense.
Jumping up to his feet, he padded along after her, looking around him as they went. "Who made this place?" he asked after a few minutes.

"It's been here since before my father's father was born. When my parents came to reclaim it it was like this, and even before that. I wonder if it was always."
She mused out loud in answer to his question. She turned contented eyes back on the cub again as they walked.
"You'll learn more about it during your lessons." She purred, but with a playful tone.
((Sorry for the delay! I wasn't sure how to answer his question and forgot to come back to this.))

It had always been here? Well that was ... really neat, actually! He wondered just how long 'always' was. It was too big of a concept to think about right now, though.
"What else are the lessons about?" he asked then, peering around as they continued walking.
(( tis okay! XD Young ones ask hard questions? lol ))
