Okay, I recently heard a hypothetical situation and I wonder what everyone's choice would be or what everyone's opinion is.
Suppose you see a vehicle like a train or trolley that is out of control, and there are 10 people aboard it who will die unless you switch the track. The problem is that there is a person on the only other track, meaning that if you do switch the track and save the 10 people that it will still cause the death of one person.
So what would you do?
Is it immoral to be responsible for a person's death even if it saves other lives? Or is it immoral to sit back and watch people die when you could save them?
this may sound kinda sad but i find this funny. I was watching Stargate Atlantis and a character posed this question to his team.
Anyway in my opinion, there are not enough variables explained... But going off of what you have stated, I think it would be better to switch the track. If you are a moral person you would feel horrible Either way because the loss of life is sad when it is truly lost. Life is to short is my conclusion. Either way both would haunt me for the rest of my life but 1 i think would haunt me more than 10....I think I have never been in this kind of a situation but i think thats what i would do.
Oh
Sonicrunner001 is sitting right next to me (Hes my hubby) He said he was going to post that question here soon anyway because we were both watching that episode...So thanks for beating me to the punch he says.
