She sat motionlessly there, the wind blew and her long fur ribboned out in little fine streamers and her burnt umber eyes looked passively at the clouds above her moving slowly in the wind, rolling, darkening, ever changing shape and form... passing the world by like nothing was of consequence and nothing was being left behind. Some days were bright and without clouds, she'd come to note, other days were over cast and the clouds danced when the wind sang... these were the days she liked the most.

She stood slowly and turned from where she had been sitting. She sought out the white female decorated in red...the Sure-Claw Hunter who was once a student of the great Bear-Claw Wolf. She followed the scent she had caught in the forest and trailed it until she found the female, and stopping a few feet away she sat down and lowered her head in respect for the older wolf. "Sure-Claw Hunter... Please Teach me." came the soft spoken voice of the small pup.

Following the prey. Clio was hunched into a low position, trailing behind a large male stag. Only a few feet remained and she had managed to sneak quite close without scaring the beast away. A grin splayed over her lips as her pads made not a single sound on the branches below her. Grass bent to her will and her weight was carefully spread. Her mixed colours had allowed her to follow the creature for so long, she had been lucky to have avoided a chase.

Her ears flicked as she heard a distant sound of movement but in the midst of her concentration she ignored the distraction. She had taken a step forward and was about to leap onto the stag when the sound grew much louder. The rustling was not that of a large beast, but either that of a creature not yet accustomed to the forest or one that didn't know stealth of the greens. Suddenly, the stag bolted. Clio nearly began chase of the creature when the shaggy pup appeared. The female was taken aback. A yelp of surprise and the stag was forgotten. For a moment she was silent. She had been so focused on her prey that she had not paid attention to her surroundings. "A p-p-pup!" Clio sputtered, saying the first thing on her mind. The female was a rather anti-social wolf, and being suddenly forced into contact with another sentient being -especially a pup- had sent her brain into a lock down of sorts.

Her mouth was gaped open for a few more seconds as she finally processed what the small female had told her. Blue-orange eyes peered to the side awkwardly for a moment, "Umm... s-sure, I-I guess..." She said, peering down at the creature. It would be best not to deny a pup training, even more-so if they were looking for it. While she was honored, it dawned on Clio that she had no idea what to do.

Marie winced when she saw the stag getting away. She expected the female to be angry, but she didn't seem so. "I'm sorry." she said, her ears laying back against her head. "I didn't realize you were hunting... I've been considering this for a few days and I didn't stop to think you might have been doing something." she said softly. "I can call a pidgeon for you or something, if you'd like." she siad with a timid smile. "If you're hungry."

Marie did feel bad for startling the female's prey and she felt like she owed her an explanation. "I've heard good things about you, and I've heard the Bear-Claw taught you so you've got impressive skill..." when the female agreed the pup looked up at her with a small smile. "Thank You so much, miss." she said softly.

Clio could still hear the panicked stag raging through the forest to avoids its death and gave a light sigh. She turned back to the small pup who was clearly repenting, surprised Clio's eyes went slightly wide. When the small female offered a meal to her a tinkle of a laugh swept through her. "No, worry not. I was just hunting a large meal for the pack." She found speaking of matters that related to her hunting much easier to speak about.

Her ears perked as she listened to the explanation of the small pup. Clio suddenly felt a sense of self-conciousness wash over her as the pup spoke highly of her. Where she heard of her lessons with Sjunheal, she did not know, but a twinge of happiness sparked in her as her skills were praised. Still, the awkwardness returned to her. "I-it's no problem." Clio said a little too quickly. Once more she cast her gaze to the side, letting a few seconds of awkward silence pass through the. "So... what would you like to learn?"

"So... I just cost the entire pack a Meal..." she said softly, eyes turned down. "Oops..." she mumbled. Now she felt really bad. "Well... I guess I should probably learn stealth... and the stag just took off, so there'd be fresh tracks, right? Maybe you could teach me how to track?" she suggested, not really certain either.

She closed her eyes and flicked her ears. The sound was fainter, but the stag wasn't too far off yet.

Clio's blue-orange eyes softened for a moment, grateful for the young pup's repentance. She lowered her head, leveling her line of sight with the younger being. The sincerity in her eyes reminded Clio of herself, many moons ago.

"Again, worry not, young one. A simple stag is easy for a pair of huntresses such as us." The brown-white female with a swirling pelt gave the little pup a small wink, trying to overcome her inner awkwardness using the connection she felt. She listened to the cracking in the distance; branches being broken by a raging deer. Clio realized the pup's ears flick. "You have the makings of ones, yet." She turned her back to the pup, taking a few steps after the deer.

White ears swiveled towards the girl followed by her head, she eyed the pup for a moment, gauging her ability and stance. Clio had never taught before, throughout her life she had always been the pupil, learning from the bear-wolf Nurse. She held a paw in the air for a moment and spoke, "The stealth is all in the paw. Each step is careful and in tune with the forest, gentle, but fierce." Clio stepped forward, lowering the paw. The ground beneath her made no noise, even the small branches in the way did not give.

Her brown nose twitched lightly to the side and Clio swung her head down towards the upturned earth she had padded towards. The hoofs of the deers had dug deep into the ground, churning the soil and leaving the deep musky scent of the stag. "Find the scent, and follow." She said quietly and begun to pad silently along the path of disturbed soil and broken bushes.

Marie felt comforted by this she wolf. She was kind, and she forgave her so quickly, and she was agreeing to teach her. Marie's heart lifted and so did her spirits. She heard the older Fae's praise and smiled up at her.

She observed the female's body language, her behavior and her actions and followed as closely as possible. She watched her movements and heard her words. She tried, but noise was made, so again and again she tried. For a few moments it would appear the pup was dancing in a circle, and could almost be imagined to be singing, "In a Circle I must go.", but upon closer observation, it could be seen she was practicing her step, and when she went full circle three times soundlessly she looked up at Clio, tail wagging, eager to learn more.

Her ears perked forward and she watched the other she wolf sniff the ground and she watched the way her head moved. Marie's nose was sensitive, so finding the scent was easy enough when she set her nose where Clio's had been. She followed the female, tail up, ears back, steps careful and measured as she followed after Clio, the scent of the Stag leading her on as much as the scent of the brown and white fae's pelt above and ahead of her. She learned quickly and she tried hard when she trained.

Clio paused and turned back, blue-orange eyes peering carefully at young whelp. Her lips curled into a soft smile as she watched the brown pup learn quickly. This would be easier for her. Once more she stalked forward, lowering her stance into a position she'd often seen her mother in many years ago. When she herself was a young pup, Clio had followed her mother into a hunt, watching and learning as a pup would.

Once the small pads of the pup sounded close -and the soft scent of a young wolf carried to her nose- she whispered, "Little one, see the broken branches here?" Knowing it would be difficult to show the young pup on such a small path, her tail brushed over the side of a tree she had noticed earlier. The green hearts of the branches were visible where the stag had freshly torn. "Should for any reason your scent fail, these are what you should look for." Once more her tail twitched, now taking the white tip downwards where deeps hoof prints were fresh. "These will also aid."

Not once had she turned to speak to the fae, slinking forwards towards their prey. This is how teaching should be one, Clio convinced herself, remembering her mother's cold words. 'Watch, and if you live, then try.' Shaking off the thought the fae continued.

Marie's eyes were quick to follow the tail as it pointed, her ears were perked forward and she listened and nodded her understanding, determination and concentration painted on her face. She traveled at a quick but silent pace and watched the broken branches and the torn up ground as she moved, graceful and lithe for a pup, quite easily becoming practiced movements.

She scoured the earth with her eyes and nose and heard the deer moving somewhere up ahead, it seemed to be slowly calming and slowing down. She held her breath for a moment as she listened and then she exhaled softly and continued after the swirled female.

Clio paused for a moment, her entire body becoming still. In warning, white tip raised upwards - the signal to stop. Ears swivelled in every direction, grasping at any sources of a sound. Two minute had passed; nothing was heard. "Best to take care than to lose the kill." The fae whispered, the gentle sound easily mistakable for a breeze disturbing the canopies above.

The saying had often been said by her mother, more of a mantra in many ways. The swirling huntress stalked forward, ensuring to step around the deep tracks of upturned mud. Clear hoof prints dug deep into the ground below, churning the forest floor and finding the moist soil beneath. It would give the young pup an example of what type of tracks to follow.

Ahead Clio could hear the stag quieting. Rash movements had slowed and the deer had become more stealthy. The fae hunched her shoulders forwards, determined not to lose this kill.

User ImageMarie observed the female and stopped when she did. She nodded her understanding of the female's statement. She had almost lost the kill for the female anyways, so she really didn't want that to happen. She listened and waited and skirting the muddy holes she followed the fae and waited patiently. When she lowered herself and hunched her shoulders Marie did the same. Soon the beast was in sight and Marie tensed, looking to her mentor for the next instruction.
