It hadn’t taken long for Ilyrosa to tire of watching her little brother and look for a one time babysitter. She needed new clothes and, despite the boy not needing them, couldn’t exactly bring him into stores and buy things. So, she managed to snag someone named Aludra to watch him for the afternoon at a nearby bowling alley. But of course, despite having left the kid in stores before while shopping nearby, things weren’t going as smoothly as she had hoped.

Seth didn’t entirely like the idea of being in the care of someone else, oddly enough. “B-But... I can stay home wiff daddy o’...” Ily sighed and shook her head gently. “Dad’s gone till dinner and I need clothes and you can’t stay home by yourself. Besides, I promise to pick you up at five thirty, as I’ve said a hundred times already,” she reassured for the tenth time during their short journey. And yet he still wouldn’t calm down and stop fidgeting. It was as if he believed she was giving him away or something. “Here, hold onto this. Dad got it for me so you KNOW I’ll be back for it. Besides, you’re my one and only little bro and I’m not gonna let anyone take you,” she continued, handing the charm bracelet to him after a bit of hesitation and struggling with the clasp.

But, it was worth it as the naga suddenly calmed down and placed the almost-too-big bracelet around his wrist. That is, till they entered the alley where he insisted on climbing down and looking around from the ground. “That’s probably him over there...” Ily muttered to him, having heard that the teen was a child from the facility as well. At least it made him easier to pick out in a crowd... Still, she memorized how he looked just in case she had to go and kick his a** later or something. Yeah, he was older and taller and probably stronger but so what? Seth was HER brother and NO ONE had her permission to injure Seth in any way, shape, or form. Somehow, she’d get revenge and they would be seriously sorry afterward. “Behave, kay booger-butt?” Seth giggled softly at the nickname. “Kay~” It wasn’t like he would have anyways...

Aludra was accustomed to babysitting, but it sometimes got boring sitting around his house and making food while the kids he was watching watched television or old movies or the like, fell asleep, and then had to be carried home. As a result of all of this boredom, he'd decided to invite his next charge to meet him and his younger brother at the bowling alley. Considering they had made an earlier plan to meet at a particular time, Aludra and Haleriun didn't arrive long before Seth and Ilyrosa showed up, Aludra busily bickering with the man at the counter about the fact that his brother didn't have feet and therefore didn't need to pay for shoes.

Hale was the first to notice the appearance of the other two Sevens children. Busy looking around and easily ignoring the sound of his brother's bickering with the turn of a knob in his hearing aid, it was no surprise that the sudden amassed amount of brain-shatteringly bright colour immediately caught his attention. Rather than approach the two of them, however, the typically not-so-social child slithered behind his temporary guardian's legs, eyes wide as he stared at them from his hiding place, tugging gently at Aludra's pantleg and pointing in their direction.

When the elder spawn finally noticed that his brother was trying to get his attention, then being pointed toward the two he was supposed to be meeting, he smiled a bit, signaling the irate man at the counter that he would be back in a moment. Silently, Aludra hoped that the time it would take to get Seth would allow the man to cool his jets, considering the fact that it looked like the boy didn't have any feet to be shoe'd, either. As Aludra stepped forward, Hale slithered along behind him, making sure to stay at least a bit hidden. It was odd where the shyness had come from - he'd been much more social as a toddler.

"Hello. You must be Ilyrosa, am I correct?" Aludra questioned with a slight smile, glancing down at the other snake-like boy. "And I am only left to assume that this would be Seth. I believe you are aware of who I am, Aludra By'arre. To business - how long would you like me to be caring for Seth this afternoon? Situation-depending, I may need a phone number in case the three of us go anywhere else."

Ily watched the boy stop arguing with the man for something and glance over. Probably shoes, since the kid behind his legs was similar to Seth in that his legs were more of a snake tail than legs. Well, now he's going to have to deal with two kids footless and thus not needing special shoes. Ah, well, less money they had to spend and more money for games, she supposed. Not having legs was a great way to save money, she suddenly realized, since one wouldn't need shoes, socks, pants, OR underwear.

"I am Ilyrosa, yes. And I was going to pick him up around five thirty, so about three hours. If you think you'll need my number I can give it to you," Ily replied, not really expecting them to go elsewhere. Or at least, HOPING they wouldn't. But, if it would get the boy off her hands for a bit then she supposed it would be worth it. Reaching into her purse with one hand, she managed to pull out a very vivid orange neon pen. "Uh... I don't think I have any paper," she replied suddenly, also realizing that Seth hadn't let go of her hand yet, making writing about ten times more difficult.

Seth, hand holding onto Ily's clawed one, watched the two move over to where they stood and blinked at the far shy-er child. He had a snake tail too? Smiling softly, he waved gently to Hale. "Hai," he said softly, not instantly realizing the boy might be deaf or had a hearing problem of sorts. But, he said no more than the quiet hello as he waited for the older kids to sort things out. The tall one had to be older than Ily, but by how much he wasn't sure. Being a child most adults were basically lumped together as being 'old'. The differences in age were fairly lost on him. Yet, he could tell that the boy had similar looks to possibly belonging to the facility. Could that mean the boy behind Aludra's legs also came from there and be his brother?

Aludra listened carefully to what Ilyrosa was saying, though his brother's fingers tensing on his pantleg was rather distracting. In his odd, childish defense, the little boy pulled out the dagger his big brother had gotten him, a small metal thing that was extremely dull, for Aludra's credit. He had believed that it wasn't quite fair for him to be practicing swordplay without letting Hale at least have something similar to his own sword. So far, the boy hadn't picked up any kind of form from Aludra, but the sword was definitely one of his favourite things, which was good enough.

"Oh! Well, in that case, I suppose there isn't a reason to have your phone number. More likely than not, we'll till be here around that time," he said rather quickly in response to her pulling out a pen and needing paper and being held in place by a young child. Geesh, even if he needed it, he would have probably just written it himself with all of her being as tied-up as she was at the moment. A faint blush followed how quickly and... oddly assertively he'd said that and he gave the female a faint smile.

"As long as there are no special requirements I need make for Seth, I believe that I can leave you to your peace and quiet now," the teenager teased good-naturedly, trying to smile away the awkwardness that only he seemed to notice about the way he'd spoken so frantically.

Haley, on the other hand, was busily inspecting this new boy. Odd, the other one looked at least a bit like he did, though with a lot more colour than Hale had. His furred ears flicked a bit when he was spoken to, seeing only the mouth movement without any kind of sound. After a brief moment of being confused, he flicked the knob on the hearing aid, wincing as a wash of white noise gave way to the still-foreign and quite loud sounds of the bowling alley. "Ha-i," he replied choppily, waving with his dagger as though he hadn't just been thrusting it at the other naga from behind his brother-shield.

Ily just smirked at the slight blush of what had to be embarrassment and the teasing comment that followed. "Well then, I guess I should be going then. I don't believe, other than the lack of legs, there's much to accommodate for," she replied, dropping the pen back into her bag before looking down at Seth. "Alright squirt, time for me to go. See ya later," she muttered, tugging her hand free of Seth's.

Seth stared up at her sister for a moment, hugging her leg in goodbye before looking back at the two new individuals standing before him. The tall one, whatever his name, looked like a giant from his position on the ground. Coiling up and making himself even smaller, the boy withdrew a bit from them. But, at the younger boy's greeting, his usual soft smile returned. "Hai. I'm Seth. Who you?" he asked rather shyly now that his sister had left. Sure he had been around people without his sister, but they hadn't been OLDER than her and he had never been left alone with one before...

Aludra took it upon himself to wave as the girl left as well, though it was a bit more of a detached gesture as he looked between the two small naga cautiously. The two boys were small, that was for sure, so it would be easy for the both of them to get lost in the large crowd of people. At the same time, there weren't a lot of colourful naga children slithering through the mass of people in the first place. Tapping gently on Hale's shoulder got the child's attention and his gilded violet eyes glanced up toward his elder brother. "I'm going to go talk with the man at the counter about shoes," he said, keeping his speech clear and well-enunciated, though not patronizingly so. "Keep an eye on Seth and don't wander too far. Actually- here are some quarters. Go over to the crane machine and try to win something. I'll get you when it's time."

Hale stared up for the most part, nodding a few times and squeaking when the roll of quarters was dropped into his hand. He smiled up at his brother and gave a firm nod, completely willing to go off and talk with the other little snake-boy instead of listening to Aludra argue with an angry man. Gesturing for Seth to follow, he slithered his way through the people who were mostly standing around conversing, making sure that the smaller boy didn't get lost at any point, not bothering to answer his question until they were in the tiny excuse for an 'arcade', standing at the crane machine, which was one of the only working games that wasn't pinball. And Aludra didn't believe in pinball.

Hale raised himself up as high as he could on his stubby tail, trying to look through the window of the game, glancing around at the different prizes, though it didn't make a lot of difference, considering all of the prizes were in little plastic balls that probably cost more than the prizes. Finally, he turned, breaking the roll and handing one half to Seth. "My na-em ith H'leriun. You c'n call me Ha-el," he finally said, voice just a little too loud for the abnormally quiet room. "I'm Loodra's li'o brother. It's ni-ees to meet cho, Seff."

The boy watched Aludra explain to the other boy what he was going to do, as well as instructions on where to wait, before walking off to argue with the shoe man some more. It took him a moment to realize the other snake-like boy had wandered off to the arcade. As quickly as he could, Seth raced after the boy without getting lost amongst the dozens of people already in the alley and walking around.

"Hale? Nice t' meet chu too," Seth replied, smiling happily. Perhaps being left alone with Ludra and Hale wouldn't be so bad after all. He hadn't been there ten minutes and already they were playing some sort of game with a giant claw in it. "Tanks," he added upon receiving the half-roll of quarters. "How you pway?" The strange contraption was new to Seth, as was the the whole idea of arcade games. It wasn't as if Ily brought him to arcades, only saying that most of them had banned her for violence or something. Probably got upset and started hitting or kicking the machines, which didn't surprise Seth in the slightest.

Hale smiled happily back at Seth, nodding in agreement that they were both glad to meet each other. When he was asked how to play the game, he looked back toward the highlighter coloured male that reminded him vaguely of his mother, and then glanced back at the machine. "Ahummm... you god'da put a core-rer-ter in da li'l thing, an' then yoo move dis," Haleriun explained, poking gently at the joystick, which moved slight, but did nothing to the machine itself. "Den yoo pew-wess da red buddon, an' da claw goes down an' gwrabs a per-ize if yoo-er lucky. An' den it puts it in der and yoo get it hewre," he continued, opening the little door near the bottom of the machine.

"Hewre, I show yoo," he said with a firm nod of his head, taking a quarter out of the half-roll that he had, slipping it through the small metal slot. Immediately, the machine buzzed to life. He took hold of the joystick, slitted tongue poking between his pointed teeth as he awkwardly navigated the claw's way through its small home. Once he was assured of victory, he pressed his thumb onto the red button, and the claw dropped down, spreading its mouth wide and latching onto the stuffed animal that Hale had tried for. The little stuffed caterpillar appeared to have been caught for a moment, raising up from where it had been, before the mouth closed all the way and it dropped back down. Pouting, Hale smacked his furred tail-tip on the ground behind him, glaring daggers at the machine. "'Toopid thing," he grumbled unhappily, looking over at Seth once again and slithering back from the machine. "Wan'na try?"

Seth watched in amazement as the machine burst into life and Hale maneuvered the claw with skill only for the prize to drop back down at the last moment. “Wow… Ah-huh!” the naga replied, nodding his head enthusiastically. He took up the spot Hale had stood in and put a quarter in the slot. As the machine started up the sloth spawn stretched himself up higher to see what was going on within the colorful glass box and to grab the black controller handle. With what seemed like a mix of awe and happiness, the spawn guided the claw over to where the caterpillar was and, after carefully aligning it, dropped the claw down onto the plushie.

Somehow, the claw managed to keep a hold of the prize as it slowly rose and moved back to the chute where the poor plush was released into a black abyss. Seth just stared in wonder and amazement at his catch. What luck! As he reached in and pulled the toy out, the naga looked at it for a few moments longer before offering it to hale with a soft grin. “’Ere. Yoo can have it,” he said, figuring he himself could have the next one he managed to snag. It seemed fair, right? And Hale looked like he needed a true friend that would be forever there for him or something. Well, the kid just looked kinda sad and toys made people happy usually so why not?

The entire time that Seth played the little game, Hale watched with large, hazeled-lilac eyes. There was a small, arrogant part of him -likely one of the many traits that he both inherited and preened in the hopes of being more like his father- that had him convinced that there was no chance that someone younger than him, no less someone who had never done this before, would be able to win a prize. His eyes narrowed as the caterpillar was grasped between the metallic hands of claw, lifted for a fraction of an inch…

Wait! Hale’s eyes widened in surprise when, not only was it lifted for a moment of blind hope and temptation and then dropped again, but it was actually raised all the way off of the ground, past the other stuffed animals, and dropped into the collection bin. Haleriun continued to stare on in surprise and melodramatic horror, looking between Seth and the machine as the smaller naga dug out the plushie. When it was offered to him, Hale’s eyes narrowed once more, wiping the surprise from his face as he pouted faintly.

“I don’ wa’ it,” Hale stated matter-of-factly, obviously displeased by the offering, as though he thought it pitying. He slithered around the younger boy, taking a place at the machine once again, slipping in more money and flicking his pointed tongue at the cold glass, far too focused to control the action that was more remnant of his mother. “I ca’ ge’uw-one myseh’wf.”

Seth looked instantly unhappy, whining softly that he seemed to have upset his friend by simply being incredibly lucky at getting the item. "Kay..." he sniffed, coiling up by the machine to watch Hale have another attempt at getting a prize. With his ears lowered and clutching the little caterpillar plush, the boy made no noise whatsoever as he watched, looking pretty unhappy at the same time.

Vaguely, the boy wondered when the older one that was supposed to be watching them would return. Purple eyes glanced around at the other games, pondering playing them once Hale finished his game.

Hale... wasn't raised in the most selfless sort of way. He didn't really seem to notice the fact that Seth was busy sulking in the corner, playing the claw game again and again. He threw a miniature fit reminiscent of his father each time that he lost, but he eventually managed to win himself a ferret plushie. Clinging tightly to it, he slithered back over to Seth, looking a bit guilty.

"I'm thowwy I go' mad. I dinnit mean tah. Wanna play shooty game?" he asked, pointing over to a game that was probably just a little bit too tall for them (unless they managed to drape themselves over the main portion of the gaming unit, which Hale would probably do), but interested Hale because it had real-looking guns as the controllers. Well, sorta; aside from the fact that they were bright pink and blue.

Seth glanced up at Hale as he came over and spoke, his temporary depression instantly lifted. "Issok. An' sure! Wooks fun!" he replied, smiling softly before peering at the game itself. Definitely too tall to reach without some kind of help or place to perch from, but when did that ever stop a naga who could climb better than most children?

Already uncoiling and heading towards the machine, Seth quickly tried to think of a way to actively get UP high enough to reach the game without tiring himself out. Physical activity, one thing his sloth DNA absolutely abhorred doing and yet, there was no other way.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 8:47 pm

Unfortunately, Hale was suffering a similar problem to Seth. He was just as small - smaller, in fact, considering he had the luck of being only about as long as his dad was tall. Sure, his dad was pretty tall... but for a snake, that left him pretty short. Actually, he might be even shorter than that... The deaf little ferret-snake shook his head, getting rid of the silly inner-musings about how long he was and slithered over to the shooting game as well. He looked up at it and tipped his head to the side. "Howwe gon'na geddupit?

A chuckle sounded from behind the both of them. "Need a little help, boys?" Aludra smiled softly at the children, looking up at the game curiously. In his opinion, it looked a little too violent for kids, but they probably didn't care. When he was that age, it was about the controller, not about the game itself. As such, he had no objection; on top of that, he'd finally won the argument with the stupid shoe man. Sure, it lead to him paying for nonexistant shoes, but it didn't matter; after all, his dad had enough money to buy a country. It wouldn't make that much of a difference.

"I 'unno... Weally high..." the naga commented sadly, unsure if they could actually get high enough to reach the brightly colored controllers or even see the screen. Then, if they could somehow get up, he'd be too tired to get back down. If only there was someone taller that could give them a boost up...

Seth squeaked and turned at the sound of Aludra's voice, having forgotten completely about the teen that was supposedly watching them. Taking several moments to get over his shock, he turned his gaze back to the game for the briefest of moments. "Ahuh. Up?" he asked softly, pointing to a spot that he could both see the screen and play the game from. Not to mention it wasn't scarily high up.
