Pacing pack and forth Faiyrn found where she now waited a place of memories bitter and sweet. She had fallen here, and watched A'Cuil Fall... she had met with Andragos here, and it was here that they became mates... She continued to pace, even as these memories surfaced. She reached the edge of the water and looked down into the current... remembering the image of the snake skin marked warrior fading into it's depths. She closed her eyes, and not for the first time, sent up a prayer that A'Cuil be safe and return.

Suddenly she lifted her head and returned to pacing. Their Alpha thought that she should lead another pack, that she should take a group of wolves willing to follow her.... But who would want to follow her? She wasn't even sure what Andragos or Kora would think about all of this... More so.. She wasn't sure what she thought of all of it... She had her doubts and she knew, soon, they would be addressed.

What if she couldn't lead? What if no one wanted to follow her? What is she lost track of someone? What if she spent so much time worrying about the pack she neglected her family? She was nervous now, and she understood how Icarus had been feeling.. but at least Icarus had earned his place...

Soon she heard foot steps and she fell still and sat down, looking up, her ears back and head lowered in respect. She knew who was coming... she'd been waiting for him, after all.

Icarus emerged from the cover of the forest, head held high now that he had released most of his concerns. The pressure that had once weighed him down had finally freed him. He slowly padded over to Faiyn, lowering his head as a greeting and as a sign of respect. "Sorry I'm late, Faiyrn. I was introducing Sjunheal to the pack." He stood beside her and looked her in the eye, realizing that she seemed to have something troubling her.

A soft sigh broke the silence. Icarus watched Faiyrn with pale-blue eyes then stole a glance at the water nearby. The light trickle of water seeping into Lake Lux from the Spirit River brought back memories of their battle. He cringed for a mere second then quickly returned his attention to the femme. "You heard me in the forest back then, right?" He asked, needing to assure himself that she had heard him before the bear wolf romped into their discussion.

He looked hard at the femme and then continued speaking. "Faiyrn, I think you should lead the second pack." Icarus narrowed his eyes. His words were genuine and there was no quaver in his voice. He was certain of this decision. Although Rebel had been his final opponent, he was still an adolescent. Another young Alpha would likely not be the best option.

"Don't worry about it. I wasn't expecting you immediately... I mostly came out to think before we spoke..." she followed his gaze and when he asked if she had heard him she nodded. "Aye... I heard..." she replied quietly. When he restated his earlier decision she stood. "I... the thing is.. I don't know if I can... I didn't win that battle Icarus... A'Cuil would have had me beat and it was luck that I lasted against you as long as I did... I don't have the strength they need a leader to have." she said, her blue eyes wide and her ears back.

"I am honoured you think so highly of me, especially as my Alpha, but do I really have what it takes to lead a pack?" she asked him, her eyes lowered and she stared at her blue tipped paws. "I think I may be Unfit to Lead." she said honestly.

Icarus watched her carefully with his blue eyes. While he was glad that he hadn't made her wait too long, her response made his mouth quirk. "I'm glad you think it's an honour, because I truly do think that." He walked to the side a bit as he considered his words. "The only reason I beat you was because of the fight you had with A'cuil while I went after him. If you do not think you are fit to be a leader, then that means neither am I. Do not mistake your ability for sheer luck."

He once more gave her a hard look. His ears swiveled on top of his head as his concentrated on hearing. It would not be good if there were eavesdroppers at such a time. Satisfied that they were not being watched, he breathed a sigh of relief. Icarus rose his eyes to her and gave her an even look.

"If it's the match we had that's making you unsure..." He trailed off and paused for a moment. Icarus' eyes flicked to the side for a mere second and then said with confidence to her, "Then let's have a rematch." He gave her a wolfish grin and added, "A fair fight between you and myself. No interferences."

He padded in her direction until his face was close to her's. "You are wise, Faiyrn. You are strong, you've seen an Alpha. I'd say you are more that fit for such a position." Icarus stepped backwards, giving her some space. He had used such a close proximity to emphasize his words. "It won't be a challenge... just a rematch between friends." He said, smiling with his eyes.

Faiyrn looked at him, and when he said that if she wasn't he wasn't either her ears flicked back apologetically. She hadn't meant that... She sighed and nodded slowly. When he suggested a Rematch her eyes grew large. "But..." she was worried that their fighting would draw a crowd. If she lost, it would secure his place as the Alpha and she knew starting her own pack would be even harder... but if she won, would others question his authority? She sighed.

Decisions, decisions.... she looked at Icarus and nodded slowly. "Okay, A Rematch. Not a challenge... Just between friends," she felt like this was something she needed and she was glad he was offering it to her because she had been too afraid to ask for it.

The outcome of this match didn't matter much to Icarus. He was thinking similarly to Faiyrn, though the consequences weren't too much. If others heard word of this match, which they likely would, either outcome would cause some sort of response. If Faiyrn won, it would be clear that she is an able leader. Even though it would put his ability to lead in some question, it was only logical. Faiyrn is the stronger, older, more experienced warrior. It would only hinder him for a little while until he gained some age and was given chances to prove himself.

Still, even if she lost, others would follow Faiyrn for sure. 'Dragos and Kora would obviously leave with her, he knew that. They were her family. As always, the moment one has the courage to leave, others will follow suit. The fact that she had enough strength mentally to go against the Alpha in a test of power would clearly show her willingness to lead.

Icarus grinned, glad to know they could finally have a rematch. Though his mind flitted to A'cuil for a moment. Now that he was an adult, he would have definitely requested a rematch with him... He sent a prayer to the spirits for his safety and hoped that wherever he was, A'cuil was fine.

He took a deep breath. Now was not the time to distract himself, he and Faiyrn had a rematch to begin. Icarus placed some space between himself and the femme. "No hard feelings." He said with a grin, mimicking the start of the three-way match of the past. The orange wolf's shoulders tensed as he spaced his paws apart, a battle-ready stance.

Faiyrn smiled. "No matter what, little Brother." she winked and took a solid stance. The same stance she took when she howled. Solid, unbreakable. She smiled and slowly started moving in a rotative pattern. "Alpha gets the honor of Attacking first." she said with a grin. "Let's do this Icarus, Warrior to Warrior."

Icarus gave a hearty laugh and returned the wink. He matched her walking pattern and circled as well, moving with the ground. Instincts of the Haven placed his paws effectively, gripping the group with precision. Still, he was nervous facing this femme. Icarus had barely scraped through last time and she had been already near her end when he had to chance to face her. Faiyrn was a strong warrior of the Sure-Claws, that in itself would be one heck of a challenge to face. He could only hope that the training Olek had given him in the short weeks after the tournament would suffice.

"Warrior to warrior." He repeated with a grin. Naturally, his lips peeled back and his hackles raised. He bared his ivory teeth and launched himself across the distance between himself and the swirl-covered female. Icarus was grateful for the solid earth beneath him as he pushed off his hind legs and flew towards her.

Faiyrn waited until the last second and tried to dodge, that of course hadn't been the best idea. She laughed when he happened to catch her back half as she dodged, throwing them both off and she stumbled and rolled a bit, though was not hurt. She stood and shook herself off. "Okay, that woke me up a bit. I need to get my head in this." she said with a chuckle as she shook her head. She turned to face Icarus and saw he was quite out of her reach and she shook her head. "Okay, I'm back in my head." she said with a grin. "Sorry about that."

Icarus laughed himself, they both had missed their attacks. So far, they seemed evenly matched. A smile came to his lips as he realized that so far, it was repeating their match. She had missed many times in a row, and later on, he did as well. His ears swiveled forward as he focused his sense of sound and sight on the femme before him.

He needed to concentrate, there was no more jokes in this match. It was a serious battle between two warrior, testing their abilities against each other. He let one last guffaw out, "Let's not repeat last time." Icarus smiled for a moment but soon his expression went sullen. He entered the state of mind Olek had taught him. For the next little while, the wolf before him was his opponent, one that he needed to defeat. It was difficult, but he pretended that she was an enemy of the pack that he needed to bring down.

It was time to bring an snarl into the match. He let one rip through his throat as he became serious. The warrior before him was strong and more than able to rip him apart. He decided it would be best to rush forward. Icarus bounded forward at the femme, paws raised at the female and front legs extended.

She dodged him well enough but when she turned to retaliate, nothing. She missed, She snarled angrily at herself, How did she manage that? She had some notion in her head that this was all going to repeat and she was going to lose like last time. She shook her head. She didn't want that to happen. She bared her teeth and her hackles rose as she looked at the male. "I'm losing my touch." she muttered.

Icarus growled deeply, outraged at the constant missing. After he realized Faiyrn had dodged him easily, he had changed his direction to avoid a counter. They were evenly match so far, and Icarus was both surprised but angered. He thought that Faiyrn was holding back on him. Icarus circled her for a moment, "I suggest we both start focusing." Icarus said in a low half-snarl. It wasn't as though he was angry at her, but the fact that there had not been a blow yet showed that neither of them were really thinking about their attacks.

Granted, they were both dodging and maneuvering in such a manner that was skilled. Still, one of them had to land an attack soon enough. Mid-way through a step, Icarus turned his body sharply and charged at the gray female. He bared his incisors at he shoulder, though he did not put enough strength into the attack for puncturing skin.

She was rearing and ready to attack. She was feeling pumped up and when she made her way at him and he passed her harmlessly against she spun too fast to retaliate and over shot, stumbling into the dirt. She rolled until she found her feet and she shot up with a Snarl. "Dammit!" she growled in aggravation. "This is Ridiculous!"

He was beyond irritated now. This was simply outrageous! The Alpha of a pack and one of the warriors he held in such a high position mentally should have landed an attack by this point! The chance that such a succession of misses could occur was slim, almost none. A true snarl tore though his body. His hackles raised and his stubbornness kicked in. He refused to continue in this manner.

Icarus crouched his body low to the ground, raring to attack. His body hummed with excitement and a warmth flared around him. There would no be another miss. He had to make sure of that. The only way a true battle could spark is if he managed to land this attack.

He pawed at the ground, his tail twitched behind his, clearly agitated. Icarus bared his teeth at the warrior, finally releasing all the shackles in his mind preventing him from going all out. Lips peeled back he spat, "I agree, ridiculous!" Icarus pushed off the ground beneath him and released all the pent up energy he had in his legs, charging at Faiyrn with his teeth.
