 Hot and muggy no sign of it raining. The weather had been teasing her with the hope or rain due to the cloud cover and humidity but still everyday it remained dreadfully hot. The roses that adorned her were drooping looking slightly wilted from the heat. Still she laid under a big tree's shade. After all, it was better than being out and moving around. This definitely was a day to be lazy and watch the gray clouds play peek-a-boo with the sun rather than to go exploring. Breathing a heavy sigh, she rested her head on the ground. Under this tree it was cool which was a nice feel, even if the bugs were pestering her some.

 Oracle's hooves made a heavy, hard thud on the ground as he trotted down the game trail and into the open, hot plains. He stood at the treeline, his ears flicking as he squinted into the sunlight. There was a river on the far side of the meadow, but the sun beating down on the grass made the effort not even seem worth it. He stepped back into the shade, and caught the glimpse of a figure laying in the shade a few trees down. "Oh...hello," he said, lowering his head a bit shyly. "I didn't see you there."

Hearing the voice made her lift her head and look around. Spotting the white stud she smiled and nodded a greeting. "Hello." Her voice was gentle and sweet like a hint of spring given voice. "No need to be shy, I don't bite." her eyes gave hint to a small smile as she stood up and shook her coat free of the bugs that had been making themselves a nuisance. "I'm Shoshana," She said as she took a few steps closer and stopped not wanting to spook such a shy looking guy off. As if tempting them to step out of the shade and into the hot plains, a soft breeze picked up giving little if any relief from the heat. "Sure is hot out lately isn't it?" She flashed a smile and looked over the grass wilting in the sun as the shade of a cloud passed through hiding the sun for a moment.

Oracle looked behind him, almost as if to check she was indeed talking to him. Relieved to see she was, he stood up a bit straighter and shook out his mane, returning her smile. "Hello," he said quietly. His voice was smooth and gentle; quiet and comforting. "Nice to meet you, Shoshana, my name is Oracle. Wonder to meet you."
The breeze picked up, thankfully rustling his fine mane. He squinted back in the son, off into the distance. "Sweltering," he said, shifting his weight. "Want to get a drink?"

"Pleased to meet you Oracle." A drink sounded quite nice but the walk would be dismal. Still the water she knew would be cool and perhaps the roses would stop wilting if she got a tad bit wet too. "Sounds great to me." She giggled some and shook her mane out some sending the wilting flowers rustling. "I know of a small clump of trees that grows near the river.. so we could in some sense brave the heat till we get there." Without another word, she stepped into the sun and out of the shade. her tail dragging behind her as she walked. The flowers on her tail looked even more pathetic in the heat than the shade. Stopping, she looked over her shoulder and waited for him to follow.

If her flowers were wilting or in any way looked pathetic Oracle didn't seem to notice. He let the mare step out just a bit ahead of him, admiring the long tail and bright red flowers. When she looked back at him and caught him looking he jerked his eyes away and began to follow her. He squinted in the light but kept his steps steady.
"I'm still getting used to this land," he said quietly, "I mean, I've been here a while now, I guess, but I don't get out and about much."

"Ah, i see.." She she continued walking in the direction of the river. "I'm still fairly new here.. but then again I've a knack for exploring so I guess I got to know my surroundings fairly well. Where did you come from if you don't mind me asking." Her tone was still kept friendly and soft as she spoke. The sun stayed hidden longer now as an ever fatter and darker gray cloud passed before it. She was convinced now that the weather was definitely playing cruel tricks on the animals below.

Oracle frowned. "My kind had our own homeland," he said after a moment. "But we have to leave." His eyes darted from her to the sky, looking uncomfortable talking about it. He cleared his throat, not wanting to steer the conversation to anywhere unpleasant. "But this land... it's nice. I like it... maybe better once the summer heat dies down, heh?"

Her ears perked at the thought of someone having to leave their own land. She wondered some but shook the thought away wanting to keep from putting her hoof into her mouth. "It's quite nice. I arrived here during the winter and though cold it was quite nice indeed. I rather liked it so decided to stop my travels and stay." She grinned wide. "Couldn't have very well returned from whence I originated after all.. I rather forgot where it is, I left so long ago." A small giggle escaped her before she cleared her throat and looked off into the distance. "won't be too much further and we'll be at the river.. then we wan walk up it and get to the trees. we'll get a bit wet since I think the trees are on the opposite bank so I hope you don't mind getting a tad wet.."

He listened to her voice... so songlike and light. He just nodded away listening her to a small smile forming on his face. It really had been a while before he talked to another Soquili besides his sister. It was nice...
When she mentioned the river he looked ahead, having mostly been focusing on her. "Ah... no, I don't mind," he got out. "Would probably feel nice with the heat and all..."

"True, I imagine it would." Giving another giggle, she pondered some. "I have to admit though.. I think I rather like this land far more than anything I really remember from my youth. It's so... Exciting here. Always a new adventure to be had lurking around every tree trunk." A sparkle of excitement seemed to glint in her eyes as she spoke of adventures. She looked dainty and pristine be she alone knew how deceiving her looks were. She wasn't known to be much of the princess of the lands though she wasn't above her moments of it. She had a girly side.. albeit hidden by the tomboy she was, the girly side was there none the less.

"You talk like you're so old... but you look young," he said with a small shrug.
Oracle trotted a bit ahead of her, coming to the bank of the river and loving the feel of his hooves sinking into the damp soil. "Adventure... " he pondered the word, looking her over. "You don't look like the adventuring type..." he stopped, realizing how that might had sounded. "Uhm, I don't mean that as a bad thing." He lowered his mouth to the water and took a cooling gulp.

"Old? No but I left my family when i was still a foal.. I heard the call of adventures to be had and just never looked back." She couldn't help but to give a hearty laugh before shaking her head. "Looks can be mighty deceiving indeed. And don't worry, I took no offense." Lowering her own heat to the water, she drank long and deep from the water. It was cool and refreshing, or would have been had it not been for a bee that was determined in investigating her roses. Still she attempted to ignore the buzzing around her ears as she drank more, the roses seeming to perk up with a bit of life.
Unable to help herself, she shook her head to clear the buzzing in her ears. Inadvertently angering the bee who promptly flew around, only to stink her in the rump. Giving a yelp of pain, she lunged forward and right into the river itself. Rump throbbing and cool water washing over her, she looked back at Oracle and gave a small sheepish grin, shaking her sopping wet mane from her eyes.

Oracle balked. Leaving home when just a foal? He couldn't imagine... he was so close with his family, his sister...
But he didn't have time to ponder this long. The beautiful mare tipped head first into the water. "Shoshana"! he called, surprised... not seeing the bee fly away until after she was in the water. Without hesitation he went in after her, unable to hide the relief on his face when she seemed okay.
He found her giggling infectious, a small chuckle escaping his own throat as he looked at her massive mop of white hair falling in her face. "Are you okay?"

"Aside from the throbbing in my rump.. and a bit of hurt pride all's dandy." She laughed some. "At least we're cooled off now though." Standing fully now, she craned her neck as though inspecting the sting. That was going to smart for a while but at least it had just been one. Looking back at Oracle, she smiled. shall we continue to the shade or play around in the water some more?" She swished her tail splashing him slightly before laughing and attempting to make a speedy get away in the water.
