I have played the new game Final Fantasy XIII and it has a few notable resemblances to FFVII

Like how the main character lightning (what a name) weilds a gunblade just like squall, although the model is different between the two blades, they are technically gunblades

Also, this lightning person shares some similarities to the way Squall acts and how he deals with most dangerous situations

The both are young elite soldiers who always hold a cold yet calm disposition most of the time and they prefer to handle things alone and to be alone...they usually depict theyre allies as a hinderance in battles and missions and aren't very open to others

and one famialirity is from ff7...(if you played ff7 or at least got to the scene about barret and cloud not getting along at first in tifas th heaven) it is the scene in the beginning of a game where lightning (the soldier) fights off a huge robot with (forgot his name) some black guy who uses firearms just like barret, which after the battle has concluded they have this short little convo. that reminds me of the moment that barret and cloud had........maybe i'm just looking too deeply but i cant help but notice it

Anyways ffXIII is a pretty good roleplaying game and it definitely has new abilities, a new way of fighting, and lots of other elements in the game that previous ff games did not have before

the game seems just a little boring in the beginning but it gets alot better as you progress through the story, not only does the progress in the story change, but so does the fighting style...as you keep playing into it you get a whole cool complex system of fighting and leveling up, maintaining your character, upgrading your weapons, and lots of other crap

all in all its a decent game, not the best ff in the series but its worth a shot

after getting through the beginning I got more and more addicted

oh and in m opinion, Lightning is no match for Squall, for he is the best gunblade user

yeah it does get addicting..I wonder if the same people from ff7 and 8 worked on 13

Lightning totally isn't a match for Squall, l'Cie or not. xd

XIII is pretty good and there are a lot of similarities between Lightning and our beloved Squall Leonhart as well as the bits and fragments that reflect Final Fantasy VII (The black guy you mentioned earlier? His name's Sahz Katzroy. =] )

I think I got hooked after the Paradigm system came into play. It's simple in it's complexity, which is kinda what attracted me to the Draw and Junction systems in VIII.

I do agree that it's worth a shot for anyone who hasn't played yet. =]
