Annabelle walked into the cabin, dragging her heavy gray suitcase. She slid it over next to an empty bed and sat down on the bed. She laid down and stared at the ceiling and started thinking about a bunch of different things.

Scipio walked into the cabin, his hands in his pockets. He couldn't wait till he was determined.. but for now he would have to stay a nobody, which suited him just fine.

Annabelle sat up when she heard someone walk through the door. "Hi! I'm Annabelle. I'm eight years old. What's your name?" she asked in her disturbingly perky soprano voice.

Scipio looked at the girl, "name's Scipio." He said, raising a hand in a sort of wave.

Annabelle waved back enthusiastically. "Cool name. I once read a book about a man named Scipio. He was a general in a war somewhere in Greece, I think," she said and smiled.

"That's cool. I was just named Annabelle because my parents coudn't decided between Anna and Isabelle, so they combined it," Annabelle grinned.

"Oh, neither have I," she whispered. "Before I came here, I asked my dad why I had to leave. He said it was because I was special and that it had something to do with my mommy. Are you one of those special people, too?" she asked in a hushed tone.
