Chandra loves her family (most of the time at least), and was starting to feel her life was falling into place. That was of course everything except one thing, and it was a large area at that... love. The problem was that Chandra was in love with two males. One was her childhood friend who meant the world for her for a while, when he left it had always been as if he had taken a little bit of her with him. The other was her teen friend, the one she finially learnt to fly with and went on adventures to find out where the sun went at night. Alistair and Sonnet. Sonnet and Alistair.
Love.... the one topic she really wished she knew the answer to, she just couldn't bring herself to harm either of them and at the same time she felt bad for leading them on. Then there was the more pressing issue -she didn't want to lose either of them... ever!
That was part of her reason for going to bug her brother, out of her siblings she felt as if spending time with Mal actually calmed her and made her happier. Probably because he had a habit of speaking his mind and she liked that. Io on the other hand made Chandra feel happy in a different way, Chandra always felt competative towards her older sister. She loved them both dearly.
Trying to put a skip in her step she called out for her brother, "Mal?" She stopped and looked around, "Malchediel!" Strange, she was sure he would be here -training or whatever boy stuff he usually did.

Though his sisters would have any reason to guess it, Malchediel also had romance on his mind that day. He had met a mare, a beautiful mare that had captivated him almost instantly. Deirdre was her name and she had the saddest face that Mal had ever seen. Something about her just made him want to make her smile, to be the one that made her light up. He hadn't managed to get that far yet but he wasn't about to give up easily. Stubbornness was high on his list of qualities after all.
In the midst of these ponderings he heard something. He heard the footstep of his sister a moment before his name. Suddenly his ears perked and his heart pounded with chagrin. The last thing he wanted was for her to know about his romantic dilemma. Quickly, he composed himself.
"Chandra!" he shouted back. Now that he was certain that she wouldn't catch him with a stupid expression on his face he emerged into view. "What are youuuuuuuu up to?" he asked with a grin.

"There you are." She chirped before trotting over to him and nuzzling his neck affectionately. She knew that sometimes Mal was distant but she would never give him the opportunity to be so with her, after all she was his baby sister.
For a moment she could have sworn she saw something on his face but it was gone and she didn't have time to figure out what it could have meant. "And me....." she grinned and looked up at him softly "...just looking for you. I need someone to bug and you are my faviourite!" She giggled softly and then jumped forward using her wings to carry her forward a little, she spun on her rear legs and looked at her brother. He was always built bigger than her but with his training he was much buffer also, "Am I interupting?" She asked as she tilted her head to the side softly.

Mal adopted one of his usual attitudes, one of smug punkish amusement. He wondered what had brought Chandra over to his practice spot. It was a nice day and he was a little surprised she wasn't out flying instead. Both her and his second sister seemed to enjoy flapping around or gliding on the breeze. Mal supposed that he would enjoy that too if he had wings, but he only knew life on the ground. That was good enough for him. It was good enough for Deirdre too. She was "only" a regular, though if anyone called her that to Mal's face he would have kicked them in the nose.
Mal blinked out of his distraction. Chandra would certainly notice a pause like that. "You're not stopping anything! I was just..." he quickly thought of excuses. "I was just stabbing stuff with my horn." He did a few mock jabs at the air as demonstration. "So far though, the tree still hasn't given up."

Chandra blinked several times as she watched her brother. What had gotten into him? He looked almost as if he had a doppy look upon his face but he always shifted it before she could grasp it. Curse him. Shrugging it off she watches as he pretented to stab the air several times -he really was such a.... well, boy! She chuckled softly before she could stop herself and spoke, "So... are all boys like that? Showing off and wanting to fight?" She blushed suddenly as she realised what she had said? How would Mal take her words? Would he just assume she was being normal and just asking out of cuirousity? Or would he connect the fact that she blushed and therefore was probably asking because she had another boy in mind -ok so two boys in mind? Drats.
"Em...." She turned away from him and looked to the ground where she spoted on of the Moon flowers (looks like a white lilly) her mother and father had the herd bring down from the mountains. They tended to be close in the day but opened magnificently under the moon light, something they got a lot of around the lake. "Oh look. The Moon flowers look like they are getting bigger! If you ever stop training long enough to figure out what a girl is you should totally pick some for her!" Chandra was simply trying to distract him from her early slip up -she had no idea he actually did have a girl he wanted to court.

"Do you think she'd like them?" blurted out Mal before stopping to think about what he was saying. His mind raced for a cover for his slip-up. He had been trying to keep Deirdre a secret but now it would be the exact opposite of that. The indecision and embarrassment were evident on his face as he struggled to find a good distraction tactic.
"What about you, sis?" he asked too loud and too forced to be natural. "Do you have any stallions hanging around that I need to beat up?" He stomped one hoof in a display of bravado that still didn't appear quite honest. Chandra had gotten him flustered and Mal had never been able to recover from that quickly. Just like his sister, he didn't expect that she actually had anyone on her mind. His own defense was his only goal.

"She?" Chandra said, cocking her eyebrow curiously at her clearly flustered brother. Wow, she had never seen Mal so.... so.... tightly wound up? She wasn't really sure how to decribe the reaction she was seeing up on her big brothers face just that it felt as if he was trying his best to hide his own... embarrassment? Or maybe it was just that he had let it slip before he was ready.
Storing the knowledge away for a little later Chandra allowed him to change the subject. "Stallions.... beat them up.... yeah, if only it was that simple...." The words seemed to be drawn out even to her ears, yes there where StallionS, enthasis on the plural. That was the problem... where did her heart truely lie? With Alistair or Sonnet? Sonnet or Alistair? Decisions, decisions... the only problem was the more she tried to figure it out the more she felt confused and like she was leading one on, she really didn't want to hurt either, and in different ways she loved both of them dearly. So much so Chandra had contemplated leaving both of them clearly as 'friends' and nothing more... but... was that what she really wanted.
Huffing out a breath she looked away from Mal's face and to his hooves, she needed to talk, and there was no better person than her brother. She loved him dearly, in their own special way they had always been close... mainly because Mal would put up with her hanging around even when he was busy, she loved him for that. "Mal...." she started, slowly lifting her head so that she could make eye contact despite the fact that her heart was fluttering so fast that she was fear her hooves would force her to bolt away from here as fast as she possibly could if she allowed herself too much time to think. Taking a deep breath she forced out the words she had been hiding from everyone, she could trust Mal. She knew that... it was still hard. "...what would you do if two mares wanted you? If they were forcing you to pick between them? I..." She looked away from him again, ashamed at her own inability to decide and for getting herself into this situation in the first place. "I'm so confused." A gentle blush covered her cheeks and not for the first time in her life Chandra found she was glad her pelt was dark and disguised most of the horrible revealing colour.

The extent of his sister's discomfort distracted Mal from his own. He blinked widely, uncomprehending. Then realization dawned in a flash. His sister had two stallions after her? His first instinct was protective anger, but then he wondered if she maybe didn't like the attention. Or maybe she would have liked it if it was only one. His ears flicked back and forth in uncertainty before he managed to refocus.
"So... you have... two boyfriends?" He couldn't help but tease her a little and the words came out with a chuckle. "I wonder what dad would think. That's crazy, sis." He shook his head, incredulous with amusement.
"Pick whichever you like best... or make them fight for you or something." He kicked up his hooves a little and scuffed at the ground. "If a stallion likes you he ought to want to fight for you too. They'd better be willing... because they're going to need to fight if they bother you." He snorted protectively. No one was going to harass his sister!

Chandra felt her cheeks burn red, she was just thankful that her dark pelt hid the worst of its effects. Trust her brother to not go along with her 'hypothetical situation' and simply address the route of the problem. "Em...." She mumbled, looking away from him. For a moment she just listened... after all that was the reason why she was here -right? She trusted her older brother.
The pinkness started to fad as he mentions their father. She gulped, he would kill her. She lowered her head, her ear wings instinctively flopping on down to hide on the top of her head. "I....I... it wasn't like I.... em.... intended this to happen."
Still Mal was her brother, and no matter how much he teased her he loved her, and the way he explained about them needing to fight if they ever bothered her made her smile. She nipped his mane playfully before snuggling his neck softly. Perhaps with anyone out of her family that motion would be considered romantic, but it wasn't -just affectionate. No matter what happened she knew her family would be there for her.
"I don't want them to fight over me...." She said at last. It was true, the fact that Alistair had returned and that Sonnet had declared feelings for her at the same time.... it was confusing. "I just don't know what to do.... I mean... I like them both. I don't want to lose my friendship with either of them." She pouted looking at Mal for advice.

Mal nipped his sister right on back, pulling up a strand of her mane and tossing it playfully into the air. He grinned as it fell down against his sister's neck. Though they were full grown, in many ways Mal had not yet grown out of foalhood. The habits didn't disappear quickly, that was for certain.
He watched his sister with an almost proprietary manner. She had come to him for help... and he was going to help her! It was as simple as that. He'd make sure that she left with no problems from stallions. He grinned a little at her as he made his next suggestion. "How about I chase one of them off? That way... he's not angry at you. He's angry at me."
He thought about it a little more and then came out with another idea. "I tell them that Dad won't let you have a boyfriend.. just a 'friend friend.' What about that? I'll do whatever you need to to get those creeps away." He gave her a skeptical look. "Though not too far away if you like 'em, I guess."

Chandra shook her head; "I can't lie to them Mal... but thanks." She smiled, hoping it came across slightly more genuine than it felt. "I love you Mal... but I think I have to do this... well on my own. I just don't know who to pick or even how to pick. I know I will destroy the one I don't pick... but... well..." She blushed again and looked away from her brother, what did she want? She didn't know... the whole concept of mates had just snuck up on her, she had been happy being friends... hadn't she?
She growled in frustration.
"Sometimes I wish I was more like you.... your life always seems so easy." She said, for a moment forgetting the hints and clues Mal had dropped about having girl problems of his own.

Mal let out a snort in response to his sister's statement. "My life, easy?" he said it with a bragging swagger. "You have nooooo idea, little sister." He tossed his mane back and looked at her with his blue eyes. "I have a lot more layers to me than anyone knows."
He thought of the mare Deirdre and of her graceful sadness. That was one layer, wasn't it? He wanted to do something for her, to help her. That had to be another layer. He thought he could count her current distance from him as a third layer, and if he continued at that rate he'd have more layers than an onion.
He tilted his head a little to think about his sister's predicament. If he was one of the stallions that apparently was after her... what would he think would be best for her to do? Quickly he banished such thoughts. It didn't matter! She was his sister and that made her more important. "Maybe it isn't your problem if you destroy one," he suggested.

Chandra considered her brothers words for a moment...... was it not her problem? She already knew she would unlikely ever find a way to keep everyone happy... either she picked someone, or she would likely lose them both. But how?
She thought about it for a moment. They both had their good sides.... both made her laugh and smile, both filled her heart with joy and laughter.
Shaking her head she ignored the thoughts for now, she would think about it when she was alone. Make a list... and then follow her heart.
She looked over at her brother instead, curious about his earlier words. "More layers?" Chandra had always considered herself close to her brother, but she supposed it was true that she generally did most of the talking -though Mal did speak to her he was just quieter. "Do tell brother.... is there..." Then she remembered the way he had responded earlier when she had teased him about a girl. "Do you have a girl Mal?" To say she was shocked was an understatement, but this was just the distraction she needed to forget her own troubles, for now at least.
Her little head wings wiggled. "Oh tell, tell! I am a girl.... maybe I can help you?" She beamed up at him. Happy for her brother... and hoping with all her heart that she hadn't misunderstood him.

Mal's smile froze on his face. He didn't know why, but it was hard to even think about talking about Deirdre. It made him feel... embarrassed. He had never had any sort of infatuation with a mare prior to Deirdre so everything about it was still new territory. He didn't even know where to start talking about her. Wasn't this supposed to be about Chandra and her problems?
"There is... well... there is a girl," he said in a gruff exhalation. There. He had said it. Now what could he say next?
"She is a bit of a... I mean, there are some problems..." Problems. That was a very simplistic way of saying it.
