 Horus frowned wondering just where he had ended up. He was supposed to have met up with Aylin, if the girl had remembered herself, and had some how got lost in his meandering. He chewed on his bottom lip trying to find something that looked remotely familiar.
Over to the side was a small forest and brush area and to his other was a river which in a few hundred feet crashed into the ocean. he let out a small whine knowing he was now completely lost.
As the sun overhead beat down on him Horus decided that he might as well make the best of the rest of the day and walked over towards the nearest large rock content on relaxing the rest of the day. Oh well here was hoping Aylin had forgotten as well.

 Jaci was very happy at the moment. She was always happier in the water, more like a little otter than a fox. What made her especially pleased was the view just a few hundred feet up the river. The ocean! Jaci had never seen an ocean before! Words just couldn't describe how big and magnificent the whole thing was!
Jaci actually wished she could be swimming in the ocean water right now, but was quite different from what she was used to. It stung at her eyes and made it hard to see, plus with so much more room and openess it was harder to catch food. And Jaci was hungry. So that was how she got back in the river, and now she was hunting.
Jaci was small, not very fast. She couldn't catch big prey. Even rabbits were a little out of her depth! Rodents were okay, but a lot of them scurried up trees or down tiny holes. Such a pain. Now fish, fish were easy! Jaci was a good swimmer. She actually did swim like a otter, having observed them before and finding their methods quite superior to her previous ones. And fish seemed to find something about her multi-hued coat fascinating, so they would swim all around her when underwater. It was just a matter of picking the right one and snapping!
Jaci's catch today consisted of a rainbow trout, a big one! Had to be as big as her whole body!! In the water this wasn't too much of a problem, being a strong swimmer with needle teeth that held firmly to her prey. It was getting onto land that proved hard. The fish wasn't giving up, and flopped around furiously. Little as she was, it took all her strength just to keep from getting pulled back into the river. She dug her feet into the mud and grimly hung on, hoping the fight would go out of the fish before her jaw muscles gave way.

Horus quietly lifted his head up from his rock perch and looked over at sound that had awakened him from his sleepy state. With a curious gaze he watched as a small kit swam around in the river finally catching a fish about the size of her. When he noticed she was struggling to keep from the fish dragging the both of them back in the water he wondered if he should help. He could ask but then it might lose its fight against the fish but since it was just a kit if he tried to help out it might get offended if he offered. Well he supposed if she did lose the fish he could always help her get another one. "would you like any help with that?"

Jaci had managed to get her feet pretty stuck in the mud, which was a double-edged sword. On one hand the fish couldn't pull her into the water. On the other, she couldn't back out. And her neck was getting tired.
The sound of a male voice startled her. She hadn't been above the water long enough to get any scents, and her attention had been entirely on the fish. It still was. She only guessed the male was male by the timbre of his voice.
"Mph mfees!" Translation: Yes please! She didn't even care if she had to share some of the fish, it wasn't like she could eat it all anyway. Without help there wouldn't be any dinner!
Jaci braced herself as the fish started a fresh round of flopping.

Horus decided the young kit had asked for help and quietly leaped down from his rock and walked over. He could slam the fish down but it was rather on the large scale. The best bet was to get his own grip on the fish and haul it further up the river bed. As he walked over he pinned the fish down by the tail with his paw and clamped down with his jaw lifting the fish up. When the poor fish was finally secured on land he decided to take a better look at his new fishing acquaintance.

Jaci unclamped her little needle teeth when she felt the fish lift, 'lest it take her with it. She opened and closed her mouth a few times, rolling her neck, then dove back in the water. She popped back out a moment later though, only wishing to wash the mud from her neon-colored paws.
She shook herself off, sending droplets everything and a fine mist that made quite the pretty rainbow as it passed through a shaft of sunlight. Her fur stuck up in odd tufts here and there, but that would smooth out as she dried.
For the first time she was able to get a good look at the male who helped her, for he was indeed male. His coloring was mostly made up of black and shades of red. There was another color that Jaci couldn't quiet pin as being either green or yellow. A bit of green subtly popping up here and there, and a white dot in the giant patch of red.
All in all, he looked quite cool. Not as cool as her, but then she thought her blue and neons was unbeatable by default. She trotted up to him, unafraid, tail swishing in the air behind her. "Thanks! I normally don't go for guys that big, but he was trying to eat my tail!" Jaci made a face.

Horus kept a chuckle to himself as the little kit dove back into the water obviously very comfortable in the liquid environment than here on land. "It was no problem. Yes, that can happen you do seem to have an almost lure shape for a tail." Horus stated sitting down so he was at her level. It was rather rude for her to have to peer up the extra two feet. "Although it looked like you were doing pretty good yourself. It was very impressive."

Jaci brought her tail around and wiggled the tip a bit. "Huh, ya think? Maybe I can use that next time." Though if it only worked on big fish, that would be a problem. Sometimes staying little forever was just no fun!
Her little body puffed up a bit in pride. Jaci was something of a sucker for compliments. Well, as long as they weren't condencending, which the male wasn't being. So much the better! "Thanks! I'ma real good fisher! They can't get away from me!"
She plopped down on her haunches next to the trout, placing a paw on it's side. It didn't seem to have kicked the bucket quite yet, but was almost there. Not that it mattered that a little life was still left, she'd eat it anyway. She looked up at the black and red male. "Wha's your name? I'm Jaci!"

"Yeah I see it all the time on those weird pole contraptions the humans use to catch fish." Horus pointed out recalling the strange fish catching ritual the fur less ones preformed. It was just so much easier to go hunting for fish in the water.
Horus smiled seeing his compliment had gone over well. It was good it had gone the way he intended. He always liked to give praise where it was due. "Yeah I would guess. You seem to be very comfortable in the water. I'm not to bad of a fisher myself but I prefer hunting on land just a bit more. I had a bad experience with fish that actually bit back... a lot. "
he watched as she moved closer towards the fish and asked for his name after giving her own. " My name is Horus... but you can also call me Heru if you want."
(ooc: and Horus thats why you dont go fishing for piranha. )

"I'ma little girl, I can't really hunt. Ever try taking down a rabbit as a kit? It ain't easy!! And my legs are so short that running after small critters usually gets me nowhere!" Jaci paused for a moment to pout a little, then continued.
"But in the water it's better! I can take down something heavier than me, cause weight doesn't matter much! I can swim faster than most adults too since there's not as much of me for the water to fight against! And fishin's easy once you get the hang of it!"
Jaci smiled at Horus, then leaned down and torn at the fish. She got a nice-sized chunk off, first try! She settled down with it and began to delicately tear away, not wanting to hit another of those tiny bones again! After the first couple bites when her stomach quite yacking at her she went to grab another chunk. With what was left of the first, it would be enough to fill her up.
Jaci looked back at Horus, then nudged the rest of the fish with her nose. "You can have some too if ya want, Heru! I can't eat it all, plus I kin always catch another if I get hungry later."

"yes it would be rather hard though not impossible, you just need to set it up so that you dont have to run after them. I don't really remember much of when I was a kit but I remember coming up with all sorts of ways to catch different things. However you seem to have a system down in the water and there is no need to change that. I always believe you should go for what works best." Horus pondered. It was about then his stomach decided to make its self known. luckily not loud enough to growl but enough to tell him he should eat. He frowned wondering when he had eaten today. At times if some one didn't remind him he would often forget to eat meals. "Yes that's true its not like there are a shortage of fish. I think I'll take you up on your offer." he said reaching down to rip off his own portion.

Jaci paused in her own eating to watch Horus. She couldn't help but giggle a little. "You eat so fast!" Well his stomach was probably better suited to handling bones than hers was. She went back to delicately picking at the fish, leaving the bones she found in a neat little pile next to her.
After finishing the first chunk she pulled the second one up to her. "So, whatcha doin' up here, Heru," Jaci asked curiously, leaning down to n** a small bone out of the fish and taking a bite.

"Yeah I guess I do. Its just you never know when some one else is going to attack you for your food so I learned to eat pretty fast." Horus pondered. "well I was supposed to meet my friend but I got rather lost. So I figured since it was so nice around here I would relax for a while.

That made sense. Jaci usually had problems with birds trying to steal her food. But with a fully-grown adult around they were staying away. It was one of the advantages of having others around actually.
"It's a very nice place," Jace agreed, nodding. "Maybe your friend will show up here, if they wander around looking for you."

"its a possibility but she's gone into this weird mother mode ever since she's been taking care of a bcr so who knows" Horus sighed shifting ever so subtly into the shade. The sun was right overhead and on his black pelt he often over heated quite rapidly.
Now that he thought about it, the cool breeze from the ocean and river was probably why he had chosen to stop here. He was less likely to become sick.
