She grumbled to herself as she lay in the shade, her eyes open but unfocussed and staring at nothing. She kept having to remind herself why she had done it. Why she had allowed that male to stay with them. It was for Dez'i and Dez'i alone. She had promised to help him become a warrior and if that male could do that, then...she supposed it was worth it.
But just because Dez'i liked him didn't mean she had to.
The pain of the last male she had called friend was still fresh in her heart and she hated that she still pined for him. He'd truly broken her heart...
With a growl, she pushed up onto her paws and moved out towards the water. She needed a drink.

Dez'i ducked his head under the water once more as he got himself close enough toward the deeper part of the water. He looked around where he was before huffing and then glanced back at the male who was teaching him. Today's lesson was one on working with water. the male nodded at him. Letting him know how to maneuverer in the water because it was occasionally needed not only in fighting but also for later use when it came to hunting in the water. He motioned toward the water and the male mocked the motion a bit of a communication thing that they've both made to be able to talk because of Dez'i only hearing when some one was close to him.
He held his breath then ducked his head back in and then looked around under the water for something it was a rock, a nice size rock a heavyish rock but one that he could grab into his jaws and then carry it out of the water. He grabbed it then started to wade his way back out of the water a grin growing on his face behind the rock as he walked back toward them. He dropped it down in front of the male who was also wet from placing the rock and shook out his coat and grinned at the male.
"You did great!" The male laughed slightly before looking at the cub. He looked like he was in between an Adol and a Juvenile. On top of that he could see the male getting bigger and a little more capible of some of the things we were doing. "We should rest some and then we'll do some sparing int the water." He said with a grin and a nod. He pawed at the male for a moment and sat back on his haunches and then chuckled slightly. Then pawed at the cub. "So rest up for now." He laughed slightly as he looked at the cub and nodded.
Something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. He smiled as he saw the lioness that was in a way taking care of Dez'i but not only Dez'i but also himself. She was sweet and pretty cute and he really liked her but he was kind of wishing that she would be alittle more open to him. But he didn't mind at the same time. Hello there!" He called out with a chuckle.
At the sound of the hello his ears perked up at the sound of the older male saying hello. He laughed and his face lit up as he dashed toward the male and then nudged him with a grin. "Hello Mama!" She chuckled slightly and nuzzled her ankles.

She snorted softly at their greeting and moved steadily towards them. To Dez'i she gave a wide, affectionate smile, but the smile fell away the moment her eyes landed on Ceyx. She hated the fact that they had to rely on him and wished that she was able to teach Dez'i what he wanted to know.
But she was no warrior.
"Hello Dez'i, love. Yoos okay?" But despite the smile, there were sad thoughts in her head...
...She was a scavenger and no good for anything else. That was her talent in life. A feline version of a vulture...how pleasant...
She moved to the water's edge and dipped her head to drink, lapping thirstily. It had been particularly warm today and she had to admit that playing in the water was a pretty good idea. A good way to cool down in any case.

Ceyx looked at the female a little confused for a moment. He was noticing that she really wasn't getting used to him. He found it very odd. He didn't do anythign that would make her not like him. Maybe it was because of the time he was spending with Dez'i. But yet at the same time he wasn't that sure of what to say. He still held a smile though on his face he couldn't help but want to become a little more involved and learn more about the female. She was pretty cute. But for now she was trying her hardest not to step on toes. That was something that was avoided a lot.
Dez'i giggled and nodded as he looked up at his mother. He shook his small growing mane before he leaned against her feet. "Having fun!" He giggled again before nibbling at her ankles. "Ceyx is making everything fun." He laughed as he looked up at her his little 'mane' sticking to his body along with the rest of his fur from being wet. He flicked his hair out of his eyes and then licked his paws. Before looking up with her with a grin.

She lifted her head, water dripping from the fur on her chin. Her gaze went from Dez'i to the large 'warrior' and she couldn't help but scowl a little.
When was he going to go?
She just didn't feel comfortable around males any more (Dez'i being the exception, of course). It wasn't personal. It was the way she would be to all males. After being so used by one, she'd utterly convinced herself that all males must be tricksters with something to gain.
What did Ceyx wish to gain?
"Ah'll leave yah too it, then, kiddo. Ah'll jus' be over there." She indicated where she'd been resting before, beyond the hedgerow in the shade.

Dez'i looked at his mother and then grinned before he turned his attention back toward the large male then he bounded over to his mother. "Mama! I found something for you and I put it away. I'll be right back!" He giggled as he started to bounce his way toward another side of the lake. His nose to the ground as he looked around. The large grin still was on his face he was determined to find what he had before he wanted to give it to his adoptive mother and he wasn't' about to lose it.
Ceyx looked over at the small male as he bounded away and he chuckled and shook his head a few times. He look back over to the female. He was trying to figure out how he could gain her trust. He flicked his hair out of his eyes once before he started to make his way over to her. His large paws making imprints on the ground. He glanced over amking sure that the cub wasn't that far away.
He quietly looked at her before laying across from her and then smiling. "You know you are doing a wonderful job raising him." He chuckled slightly and then nodded at the idea. "He does nothing about talk about how awesome you are." He smiled slightly at the idea he remembered when he used to do the same about his mother. He knew that his mother was sad to see him go but the pride just wasn't for him and he had a better thing going now. "It's a really amazing thing you're doing for him." He looked a her then looked down at his paws not really sure what else to say to her. He never really liked tense moments.

She paused, looking after her son as he scampered away to fetch what he had found. She was still looking in that direction as the other male came and lay across from her. Her eyes snapped back to look at him and she curled a lip, though did not utter a growl.
"Weh're both rejects." She snapped. "Weh understand one ano'er." She replied moodily and set her chin firmly on her paws, drawing her eyes to glance in any direction but at him. He was so friendly and nice...but why? Why was he being nice? There had to be some ulterior motive there.
"Ah dun do anythin'." She muttered at length. She really was a rather useless female, now that she thought about it. Nothing but a scruffy rogue who could scavenge from vultures.

Ceyx noticed the female's discomfort with him being close the way he was and talking to he. He shrugged it off he knew it wasn't anything to really worry about. He had a feeling she wouldn't hurt him. Sure he wasn't one hundred percent sure about it but he was going to take his chances but he felt it was worth it. He wiggled his toes out in front of him before looking at her as she said her first comment. "But it's nice that you took him in." He said with a nod before he turned to her and shook his head.
"Oh no." He said as he looked at her his face was serious he knew that she did more and he didn't understand how she didn't know that. "You clean him, you listen to him talk about his day, you curl around him when he sleeps. Do you know how happy that little cub is?" He asked arching a brow at her. He was a little annoyed that she even said that. He grunted slightly as he shifted his weight and looked at her in the eye. "He does nothign but talk about how amazing you are. You do a lot Ka."

Ka blinked and finally drew her eyes back to him. A frown was heavy on her features and for a moment she lay perfectly still with only the end of her tail twitching from side to side.
Then she rose onto her paws and glared at him. "Alrigh' cut the act, yoos." She bristled and her square - almost masculine-shaped form - gained a more defensive posture. "Wha' d'yoos really wan', eh? Are yah tryin' to catch meh unawares, eh? Cos yoos ain't, ah'm tellin' yoos now. Ah know about yoos males an' yer ways." She waved a forepaw in the air momentarily but then continued her glaring at him.
"Yoos stop actin' all nice, yoos 'ear meh?!"

Ceyx looked at her a little confused for a moment as she stood up. He wasn't really too sure of what was going on. He didn't know that she was going to do what she was about to do. He was confused. In his pride he never met anyone like this, aony one who was determined on proving that he was trying to do something bad. Or for that matter some one so stubborn.
He sighed and shook his head as he looked at her. He wasn't going to get up and fight with her about this but he was going to defend himself. He sat up but remained on his haunches as he shook his head at her he spoke. "I want to help. I want to help this little boy do what he wants because he seems to be such a brave little one." He shook his head again. "I'm not acting nice. I'm being myself. And you know you aren't going to get that far like this." He growled slightly, this had to be the first time in his life that he was getting annoyed. He pushed himself to his feet and moved closer to the female his large frame making her look really small. He lowered his head to look hims straight in the eye.
"If you continue to act like this toward me the only thing you are going to do it make yourself miserable and eventually that little cub," He glanced over at him and shook his head before looking at the female again. "Will understand that you are miserable and become it himself. Because he wants you to be happy."

She growled, getting back onto her paws, angry and frustrated. She wanted to claw his eyes out, if only he would give her an excuse to!
"Shut up. Jes shut up yoos." Her eyes were blazing with anger and, after casting another glance at her son, she decided she needed to be alone for a bit. She hated herself for it, and she wouldn't go far. She just...needed to think.
Clenching her jaw, she turned and pushed her way into the undergrowth, disappearing from sight.

Ceyx waited for the lionesses's reaction. He was really curious on what it was going to be. He rolled his eyes when she told him to shut up. He couldn't believe that was her reaction! That was really all she had to say to him. He shook his head a few times before he growled and rolled his eyes again as he wandred away. She really couldn't believe it, that was really annoying.
He looked over at the little cub. He was going to keep him aorund here a little longer before they headed home. He was a little annoyed at all of this but he wasn't going to let the little cub know that.
