Jaha lounged lazily under a shade tree as his rediscovered mate napped. Looking closely at the sand, he saw a small beetle, ambling along. He tilted his head in curiosity as he gently prodded it with his paw, and withdrew it quickly as it snapped to attention, widening it's pincers. His were alight with terror, but hastily turned to playfulness. He raised his hackles, butt in the air as he began to swat at it.

He felt a strong sting in his toe, and couldn't help but wail loudly in pain. He shook his paw furiously, beetle still clamped on, being whipped this way and that. Finally the bug had exacted his revenge and ambled along once more. "Y-you're a m-meanie! You st-stupid!", Jaha stammered through his whimpering, tears budding in his eyes.

Hadiya had been napping peacefully, that is until she heard Jaha yelp in pain and start yelling. She jumped up quickly whipping her head around. "What? What's going on?" She would have asked more but she realized it wasn't too serious when she saw a bug scuttling away. She looked at Jaha to see him about to cry. "Jaha, you know you shouldn't mess with those. Let me see your wound." She said, walking over to him. Really, she could barely take a nap without Jaha getting into some sort of trouble.

Jaha's lip was tight and quivering as he choked back his urge to sob violently. He always responded when Hadiya spoke, regardless of discomfort. It was just in his nature. "Yeah I knowishudnbuilookedlikfunnn", he cried, his words slurring almost incomprehensibly through his weeping.

Obediently, Jaha held out his paw, only to reveal two spots on opposite sides of his toe, that appeared to be welling with blood just beneath the surface. It hadn't even broken the skin, but the pain still made him squeal like a young cub. He laid his head down on her shoulder. Hadiya was his mate, but because of his natural immaturity, becoming his adopted mother was part of the job description.

Hadiya sighed as she looked at his toe. Jaha was sometimes just too kid-like, but she had gotten used to it by now. She started to lick his wound, hoping to calm him down. There was no use yelling at him now, and probably no use later from what she had learned about her mate. After she was done, she nuzzled him with her head a bit. "Better now Jaha?" She couldn't help but giggle a little at his situation. Sometimes he was tiring, but he could be so cute at the same time!

Hadiya's licking was soothing, in fact, she herself was rather comforting. Just as a mother should be. Her appearance, her voice, her very scent was enough to make his hysterical flood of tears fade away until he was almost drifting off to sleep. He felt her move slightly, recognizing her laugh. He loved that laugh, but not when it was at him. Bolting upright, he whined, "Don't laugh at me!", beginning to pout. Of course his little hissy fit was nothing short of adorable, even though he was trying to be serious.

He really was nothing short of a cub. He was on the brink of tears once again because of lack of sleep, combined with embarressment. He held his sweet little glare until his stomach rumbled loudly. He had actually forgotten what he was doing, and was talking to himself within his mind. He always looked especially silly as his head tended to tilt to one side, his jaw slackened and his eyes glazed over.

Hadiya laughed a bit harder. Too adorable! "Oh come on, you look so cute!" She managed to say in-between her laughter. Once she started to calm down she looked at him again and saw that he was tearing up again. "Sorry, you were really cute." She said, trying to calm him down again. After nuzzling him a bit more with her head, she heard his stomach growl. "Guess we should go get some food then." She said, starting to walk off a bit, expecting Jaha to follow her. When she realized that she wasn't, she looked back and saw Jaha in his 'distracted' mode. She walked back and poked him a bit with her paw. "Jaha, I was just about to go get some food, do you want to come with me?"

Jaha now looked as if he were simply fascinated by the shade tree, his stillness almost eerie. But that was simply because he was thinking. Echoing through his brain were the words of Hadiya, masked by his argument with himself.
"Why did you have to go and growl like that?!"
"I was hungry... you big baby!"
"I am NOT a ba-"

Jaha awoke with a violent flail. "Agawagaha!", was the gibberish that leaked from his mouth as he reeled onto his hindlegs, forepaws swiping the air in surprise. "Uh? Oh! Food! Yeah, let's go!", he exclaimed.

Hadiya quirked an eyebrow, but that was it. She wasn't sure what Jaha usually thought about, but she almost expected for him to react in surprise when she interrupted him. "Sorry to interrupt your thinking Jaha" she said, slightly guilty. She thought she might have done it a little too often and although Jaha was easy to forgive, she couldn't help but feel guilty. Once she started walking again, expecting Jaha to catch up to her, she wanted to have a talk with him.

Jaha was never one to get angry, and if he did, it was never for long. The only time he could remember being hateful was when Hadiya had left him, and had almost forgotten what she had done when she returned. But of course, he forgave her within minutes when she apologized and promised to stay with him. And she had held true to that. He had is mate, so what could he be angry about? "It's ok!", he said, bright and bubbly. He just wanted food now.
He turned on the spot and trotted up next to her. Heh. He was going to get food. His naive nature made him very lovable, but also easily hatable by those who were impatient or disliked rogues.

Hadiya smiled a bit. She could never stay too angry at Jaha, but she was definitely more likely to get stern when she needed to. She looked around. Hadiya knew that Jaha liked fish more than anything, but she wasn't sure if there were any close watering holes. She still had to have him practice catching meat. Even though females were usually the ones to catch the prey that was when they were in prides, and 2 rogues would just have to do. "What do you want Jaha, fish? Or meat? You still need to practice hunting prey."

Jaha furrowed his brow at the choice. He had raised himself on fish, but he also knew that red meat was delicious. Just the idea made his mouth water. Yum. "We should get some meat," he said, almost as if he could just go to a store. He hadn't thought about the ordeal of actually catching something. But his mind was made up.

He didn't realize that it was easier said than done. Hadiya had caught a gazelle before, and had let him taste it, and it was the tastiest thing ever. He had completely forgotten that she was panting and her heart was pounding afterwards. Well this would be fun!

Hadiya licked her lips a bit. "Good choice." She perked her ears a bit trying to find some prey. Once she had heard some she started to jog a bit in the direction towards them. "Follow me Jaha, I found some, but we will need to be quiet."

Jaha trotted after his lovely mate. The promise of food made him giddy with excitement. He could barely contain himself. Jaha just had to focus on the dirt, examining it. That way he could keep from shouting for joy. Brown rock, brown rock, white, brown, black, wh- "Oof!" He had been staring at the ground so intently that he had forgotten to watch where he was going and ran into Hadiya.

"Sorry...", he whispered meekly. He was always one to be a screw-up. He was just lucky that they weren't close enough to scare the prey. Mmm... Prey... Oh! Right! The ground. Brown, black, black...
