The night was warm, the fireflies flitted out in the dark. A big gruff lion watched them fly about. He was stationed in front of tree and promised himself not to move even a step forward. Kusitiri was aware of the little problem he had. Each night he did something, as soon as the sun arose he would forget what occurred. He did not remember it the next day, he didn't even remember what happened the next night!

This was dangerous for a Lion, he figured. For all he knows, one day he will be attacked and wake up bleeding having no memory of what happened. That is not something you want to wake up to.

But it was boring for him, and he wasn't tired at all. A loud yawn erupted from his mouth as he moved to lay down near the tree and then stare at the moon. Not full yet not whole. Was this what they called a half moon?

Sukanya hated the nights when the moon was swelling, filling out and growing fat until soon it would illuminate the whole night and she would be left without the cover of darkness to travel by. It was not absurdly bright that night, but it was still the lurking promise of light which concerned her. It was not simply her that she was looking out for anymore, but her baby. Her mistake. Her precious Makosa.

Her son was sprawled across her back as her slender form weaved across the savanna, her bright blue paws standing out in the darkness, even though the rest of her was black. It was god that her son had taken on his father's dark colours, rather than her own blue. It would have made it hard to hide. She sighed, a little sorrowful that her baby boy would not see the light of day, but he was too fragile, too young. When he was older, when the visions stopped (oh how she hoped they would stop!) then he could choose his own travels. Until then, it was her job to protect him.

Makosa hated walking on the ground, which was why he was always pleased when his Mama lifted him up and onto her back. Clutching onto her shoulders, he wobbled as she walked but smiled harmlessly from her back.

"Mama!" His voice was young, if slightly girlish in tone since he had no male to mimic in sounding 'masculine' and tended to use the same tone his mother did. "The stars are really close tonight!" He whispered, seeing his mother's disapproving glance at his loudness. He stared at the fireflies which were dancing nearby.

Sukanya smiled. Her little boy was so innocent at times.
"They are not stars, my darling," her voice was soft, purposely quiet so as not to draw attention to themselves. She drew to a stop, so that her son could focus on the fireflies. "They are fireflies, little bugs which light up."
She watched the look of awe dawn on her sons face, and knew he wanted to chase and catch them, but it was too dangerous, and she let a pained expression, one that he would not see, show on her face as she watched the dancing lights.

His eyes were closed... shut tightly so to force himself asleep. Many thoughts roamed through his mind though, several of them where of previous memories from the morning as he is trying hard not to create any for the night. But it was just too ... Something was out in the night that made him like this. unable to catch the relief of sleep. Unable to wander darkness in a dreamless daze. He wondered if he was cursed. With the inability to sleep and rememeber during the night.

Wanting to get away from this track of thought, he stood up from the tree and let out a gruff noise. His clenched eyes open, blue eyes staring softly up at the sky once more. The stars shown bright above him. The one thing that settles Kusitiri's fears and troubles. He had always loved watching them.

And then something caught his eyes. Lights moving below the sky! They were fluttering around, rapid in movement... yet angelic in the way they fluttered and flitted about. Kusitiri's brows furrowed for a moment as he tried to rememebr what these lights were called. Some time of bug that was would be used in some of the pride's he has seen... to move through the darkest hours of the night. ... Pondering for several moments he then remembered -- Lightning flies. For they flickered and flashed just as the great sky does during a storm.

A smile pushed its way on his muzzle as he padded forward to look after these bug. Making his way towards them to take a better look and unaware that there were others near by.

Makosa was fascinated by the glowing bugs, his eyes wide and delighted even though he could only see the lights. He had poor eyesight, which meant he saw shadows, rather than full details. This often lead him into trouble, because he just...couldn't see what was going on around him. His mother told him that maybe when he was older, his eyes would get better, but it was hard to tell, when they only travelled at night. He was practically blind in the night.

Wiggling on his mother's back, not bothering to ask her, he slipped down quickly, wanting to follow the glowing bugs and see if he could catch one, but as his paws touched the ground, he cried out loudly, eyes squeezing shut.
Pain, was the first thing he felt, claws digging into him. He felt small, smaller than normal and when he heard the screams, they sounded smaller, squeekier, like something not quite feline, but tinier. He yowled and tried to curl up, trying to hide from the flashes of the bad, bad images but he couldn't. He couldn't get away.

Sukanya had been distracted by the bugs as well, and did not notice her son slipping until he had hit the ground and cried out, not from the pain of hitting the ground but from the visions that crowded his brain and tried to take over. Lowering her head, she grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and tried to twist, placing him onto her back but she couldn't move that far. She couldn't let him touch the ground again, so she laid herself onto the ground, resting him against her stomach, near her shoulders.
"Shh, Kosa," she whispered. "It's okay, Mama's here." She knew he would be trapped in the vision, until it ended but it didn't hurt to try to calm him a little.

He was distracted by the lights that flickered by him, happily watching them and walking further into the night. He thought that nothing bad would come from just watching the bugs, right? So he decided to continue forward, laying low... until a yowl is heard.

His eyes widen at the familiar sound of pain, like the ones he had made when he was younger, almost at least.. Kusitiri rushed at that sound, worried for what poor creature had gotten hurt-- or at least what prey he could find as well.

That is until he noticed dark shadows on the ground and... a strange blue outline on the ground, his curiosity was peaked at this and caused him to move closer, but he made sure to let his presence be known.

"... Is any one there? Anyone hurt?"

Pain. Red. Everywhere was red. What was going on? where was Mama? Mama! Mama!. Makosa gave a low groan as the pain increase, shudders wracking his tiny body as he curled unconsciously closer to his own mama, as a voice that was not his own screamed in his head for it's own mother. Why wasn't she coming?

"Mama," he cried out, unconsciously mimicking the voice in his head, the one causing such pain.

Pain. Pain....nothing.

The vision faded, as if nothing had been there to start with, leaving him panting and clinging ot his mother, a small whimper coming from his throat.

Sukanya hated these visions that played young Makosa. It was a horrible, disgusting thing to possess, she decided, cradling her baby to her as much as she could, protecting him from ever touching the ground.

She couldn't stay focused on him though, because a noise sounded across her ears and she froze. Another creature was out there, with them, and when it called out, she growled low.

She wasn't a threatening creature, she hated violence but she adored her son, her little mistake, and would do anything to protect him.

"Stay back!" She warned the figure before her, but her voice wavered, her panic over her son showing in her voice even as she felt his young body slump, vision finished.

His ears flicked back and then forward as he heard the cry of small cub. He peered close and then hurriedly pulled back shaking his head. HE could hear the female's voice full of panic and he didn't want to cause any misunderstandings. Kusitiri pulled himself into view, but away from the group and stared with a soft weak smile. "I'm sorry I just.. I heard some noises and I thought something was wrong. I didn't meant to.. I mean, am I the thing causing trouble?

He looked worried now and hesitates to leave. The two looked as if they were heading forward somewhere and just wanted peace, maybe he should stay back. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to have gone forward and shown himself.

Kusitiri's ears fell back and he sighs, it was confusing for him sometimes.
"I.. uh, I'm sorry."
