What do you think was the worst Sonic game? It can be any Sonic game. Just say it. If you want put your reason too.

I chose Sonic 3D Blast cause that just wasn't good. All of the other games were decent. I haven't played Sonic Shuffle so I wouldn't know how that game was.

IMO, the three worst (I can't decide on just one) are Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Shuffle, and Sonic Advance 2.

Sonic 3D Blast was too slow and what platforming it did have was nearly impossible (or at the least, a chore) because of the isometric perspective. The controls just generally felt... eh, I dunno, imprecise somehow. It only became marginally more controllable when ported to consoles with joysticks (ie. in Sonic Mega Collection). Really the only thing I liked about this game was the music, both on the Genesis and on the Saturn/PC.

Sonic Shuffle is the anti-fun on 1P Mode, because of the CPU being a giant cheater and reading all your cards to pick your highest numbers. The mini-games weren't all that special, either. Plus the fact that they tried to add a story? In a party game? Not necessary, even if the story had been good, which it wasn't.

Sonic Advance 2 punished you for going fast on levels that were designed for going fast. This I would have not minded much, if not for the additional fact that the special stages are a monumental pain in the a**. They're difficult to get to because you have to collect seven special rings, not die, and then if you actually get to the special stage, it's nearly impossible to complete due to the basic crappiness of the special stage design. I've never even bothered to collect all the emeralds with any character, because I don't feel that the final zone and the sound test (and I liked the music in this game) were worth it.

That should cover it.

I never played Shuffle, but 3D Blast definitely did seem to have a relatively loose control system. Perhjaps it was the collision detection not being tweaked enough to the isometric perspective.

As a result, it was a competent enough little isometric platformer, but it just didn't feel like a Sonic game.

The soundtrack was definitely the highlight - although it was a shame that the ending theme was such an effort to get to.

As much as I hated Shadow (Shuffle is a very fun game, it just suffers loading times and cheating AI and 3d is playable), the loser of all is undoubtably Sonic Labyrinth. The game is slow, boring and has stupidly stupid boss battles.

I never want to waste any more of my life on that game. Ever again.

Since it's a very similar engine to S3D, I wasn't going to mention it. smile

Dr Robotnic's mean bean machine, the AI level goes steep from first to second boss.(it has even made it very hard for me to try and cope with the game so far over the years I have Sonic Mega Collection.)

Same game I think is worst and for the same reason. Enough said.

As much as like to find the good in any game I play, I think I'll have to agree with several people here, and tie 3D Blast and Shuffle as the lower points in Sonic's career.

It's a real shame for 3D Blast, too...Visually, it's such a pretty game to look at, despite it all being practically and illusion. And, as Keptan and Nuala have said, the music's a real treat (thank God Saturn CDs are cd player-friendly!).

But, the extremely awkward movements, aggravating-as-nothing-else Flicky behavior (KILL the red flickies!!!), and the fact that it's perhaps the only game that penalizes you for going into a special stage again upon obtaining all the emeralds (you'll lose them all, at least in the Genesis version) really helps to kill the fun.
To be honest, the only way I've even gotten to SEE the ending was by taking advantage of the cheat codes...

I'd go into my quarrel with Shuffle, but I think everybody else has already covered those bases. : p

Sonic Advance 2, while I did hate at first due to it's frequent speed-related pitfalls, did start to grow on me after a while. Though, it still needs improvement....I still have yet to get to the special stage in that game (once again, gotta love those cheat codes).

Which soundtrack? The original Genesis one reused by SA1, or the Saturn/PC version?

Personally, I actually quite liked Sonic 3D Blast. It wasn't exactly a Sonic game, but it was a decent enough isometric platformer in its own right, and I have a soft spot for the final boss.
Speaking of which, the end theme is easily accessed along with the rest of the music if you stick the pc version into a cd player.

No... my venom is reserved for Sonic Advance 2. Not because it was strictly speaking the worst game, but because it fell so far short of what it should and could have been (look at Advance 3 for contrast). The 3D and isometric games were a dubious idea from the get-go, but I'd never have thought they could mess up 2D Sonic so much.

I kinda liked Sonic Shuffle, and Sonic Heroes always stressed me. Sonic Heroes is worse then.

What is it about Heroes that you find stressful? Personally, I just got sick of falling through glitchy grind rails.

I have to agree with DragonhalfShane on some points when it comes to Sonic Advance 2(why couldn't they let the player only have to get the seven CE once, like in Sonic Advance 1), but I have to say the mini game to obtain the emeralds is(twarting Zero isn't so hard... yet, I have only completed the first Zone's emerald. sweatdrop )

I chose other. The absolute worst Sonic game title absolutely goes to Sonic Labynth. It's for the Game Gear and is just... wow. Basically, the story premise is that Eggman has stolen Sonic's shoes and replaced them with shoes that slow him down and Sonic has to collect these keys or some such... It's excruciating to play, the levels are dull, poorly constructed and poorly designed.

the only way i could even get to the third boss was to set the game to 'easy'. ox;
