Today was one of those days that were slow and seemed to drag on and on. Snookie got up from where she had been laying on a bag of potting soil and went to the window and jumped up on the windowsill. Krystal, Snookie's owner, was busy re-potting some Snapdragons in the back of the Rainbow Meadows Flower Shop, that was near the local park, which left Snookie with nothing to do. Snookie watched as people walked past the shop and even watched as some stopped to admire "The pretty or cute puppy in the window", but none of them came in to buy flowers. In total, Snookie had only seen three people come in and buy flowers. Usually the shop was busy, but today was a very slow day. Snookie continued to look out the window, wondering when her owner was going to close shop for the day and take her either home or to the park to play. At least she would be able to run and play.

It was early in the morning the phone rang for Mint Travis. Sodu couldn't understand what was happening; Mint looked worried and her voice was high pitched. She yipped at her owner, demanding from Mint an explanation of what was going on.
However Sodu received a small scolding and an order to be quiet. She huffed in response angrily and chose instead of barking to lie on her pillow that was next to the fire place. Laying down, Sodu stared as her master paced across the living room and kitchen as she spoke on the phone: "How badly are you hurt? .... What happened? ... I'll come straight away."
Of course Sodu had no idea what was going on beyong Mint's frantic and rushed tone. She could only assume the worst; unlike how normally Sodu is, she was very hesitant at times when Mint became more worried than normal. Sodu moved closer to Mint as her owner hung up the phone. Mint needed her now. "Oh, Sodu. Mom got into an accident. She seems to be getting hurt more often now." In response Sodu looked up to Mint quizzically, but wagged her two tails in response. Surely if Sodu shows that she's happy, Mint will smile too? Of course! Sodu is never wrong. Watching Mint's shoulders sag as Mint's mood grew more weary, Sodu chose to tug on Mint's socks towards the front door. "So you want me to go out? I suppose we can visit mother on the way to the hospital. Maybe pick up some flowers that she loves."
Sodu yipped in response. "See? I knew it would be ok!" Mint placed the young puppy into her messenger bag to tote her around. Soon, they came closer to a store titled "Rainbow Meadows Flower Shop" with a pretty puppy sitting at the window sill. Sodu perked her ears up seeing the new puppy and yipped, saying hello. "This store? Whatever you wish Sodu!" Just as Mint opened the door, Sodu jumped out of her owner's back and ran to the window sill to bark at the white dog.

Snookie watched as people continued to pass by the shop. Many only stopped to admire the flowers on the outdoor displays or just to look at her and then walk away.
As the time passed Snookie ended up lying down on the windowsill and falling asleep, until she heard the bell on the door ring and the barks of another puppy. Snookie looked down at the puppy and gave it a puppy-ish grin before she jumped off the windowsill. "Hi I'm Snookie." She said wagging her two tails and looking at the purplish-pink pup before her.
Of course after the door opened and it's bell make a jingling noise, she came out from the back room, wiping her hands off on the apron she wore. "Welcome to the Rainbow Meadows Flower Shop. May I help you ?" Krystal said to the new customer, while Snookie visited with the other puppy.

Sodu scrunched up her nose as she hopped back in surprise as the white puppy jumped off the sill. "M' name is Sodu, pleasure to meet you Snookie!" He turned as he heard the shop owner enter the main lobby and hopped over to Mint. She circled her owners legs and positioned herself between the two humans and playfully spoke: "Stand back human! No harm shall come to my owner as long as I stand guard!"
She wagged her butt in the air, swishing her two tails in a happy manner. Mint blushed as she heard Sodu speak only hearing barks as Sodu tried to communicate. "Ah... please be quiet Sodu, that's not nice. Use your inside voice." Mint didn't want to cause trouble for the store and nervously tried to silence the hyper puppy before she was scolded by the shop keeper. As soon as Mint realized that Sodu had nothing else to say, she turned to the shop keeper to respond to her greeting."Umm... Yes, I, uh, came here to buy some flowers before I head to the hospital. Oh no... they don't allow dogs inside. What should I do? I don't want to leave Sodu alone at home..."
Mint looked worried and grimaced at the situation. She didn't see a way out and sighed. Sodu looked up at Mint and whined, placing a paw on Mint's leg asking what was wrong. "Oh dear... I suppose I can't help it. Ah, yes, I didn't mean to ignore you... Can I please buy a peony orchid plant?"

"It's nice to meet you as well, Sodu." Snookie said before she watched the puppy return to her owner. She calmly walked over to her human and whined slightly before Krystal picked her up and held her.
"It's alright. I don't mind." Krystal said as the girl tried to calm her puppy. She listened to what else the girl said before she actually placed an order. She nodded and sat her puppy on the counter next to the cash register and then disappeared into the back room.
Krystal came back a few minutes later carrying the plant that the girl wanted to buy. "The plant is two dollars, as for your situation with the hospital, I would be more than happy to look after your puppy while you visit the hospital. I'm sure Snookie would enjoy having some company. Right Snookie ?" She said. Shortly after Krystal finished speaking, Snookie barked and wagged her tails, agreeing with her owner.

"Oh... I couldn't impose." Mint flustered, taking the plant into her unsteady hands. She was relieved that the shop keeper was ok with Sodu's small yips. Juggling the plant in her hands, Mint struggled to get her wallet from her messenger bag, frightening Sodu who thought the plant would fall. In the end despite Sodu's worries, the plant remained in the hands of Mint and the two dollars was given to the shopkeeper.
Sodu gave a sharp yip in reply: "Close one!" Sodu once more laid a paw on Mint's shin and looked up to see what Mint was doing. Looking over to Snookie on the counter Sodu asked "Do you understand your owner? Haha, I still can't communicate with mine yet."
As Sodu once again yipped at the white dog, Mint tried to hush Sodu once again as well. She truly did not want to leave Sodu alone, but she did not know the shop keeper well enough to care for Sodu without any worries. "Thank you so much for the orchids. I can't believe the price here for such beautiful and well kept flowers." She paused once more, hesitant to reject the shop keepers offer. "My name is Mint, Mint Travis. Thank you for your offer... but... um..." She couldn't say it. At times like these Mint truly wished she was more social. It makes her slightly envious of even Sodu, who was always able to greet strangers with such strong enthusiasm.

"It would honestly be no problem watching after your cute little puppy. After all it seems we both have gotten them from the same place, the Teashop." She said with a smile as she took the money handed to her, after watching the girl's kind of awkward balancing act.
Snookie, meanwhile looked down at Sodu. "Not completely. We've gotten to the point where she can pretty much guess what I want. It shouldn't be too much longer before we can understand each other, but I'm not sure." She said, wagging her tails.
Krystal half ignored Snookie's little barks as she listened to her customer. "You're welcome. I like to keep the flowers beautiful, the plants fresh, and the prices cheap." She said. "It's nice to meet you mint. I'm Krystal West and it's not a problem. I completely understand not wanting to leave your puppy alone, but also not wanting to leave it with someone you don't really know either. I'm the same way, but I'm not too sure what you will do with him or her while you're in the hospital. I doubt you will be able to take him or her in, but I could be wrong." Krystal was just trying to be nice and help out Mint.

Mint smiled at the warm greeting, she supposed she could trust the shop keeper and take her up on her offer. "Thank you so much. I'll be back as soon as I can so I don't burden you more than I have to." Thanking Krystal once more, Mint made to leave. Sodu made to follow her, with a small yip as he stood up. Mint frowned as she thought of a way to keep Sodu in the store as she opened the doors. Mint looked up at Krystal and Snookie that were still at the counter, giving another thanks: "Thank you again. I'm sure Sodu will have fun playing with... um, Snookie."
At the door Mint gave Sodu a stern look, or at least an attempt of a stern gaze. "Don't cause trouble for Krystal, Sodu." By this time, Sodu began to realize that Mint wasn't picking her up to place in her messenger bag. Sodu whinned in response, "Hurry up and pick me up! We're leaving right? Come on, the floor's cold!"
Mint looked down guiltily and Sodu's heart stopped. "I'll be back soon. Thank you again Krystal." Mint left, slipping between the door and the frame to make sure Sodu couldn't follow her. With a last glance, Mint walked to the hospital.
"WHAT!? YOU'RE ABANDONING ME?" Sodu was in a mad frenzy of barks. "How could you!? Well FINE. I don't need you! Watch it, you're going to come back to me! You- You!" Her long outburst came with a small wine as she collapsed on the ground. Her ears were tucked down, her shoulders slumped. She finished with a long sad whine.

"You're welcome, and it's no problem." Krystal said, before Mint left. Once Sodu's owner left, Krystal felt bad about the puppy being sad and alone. "It's alright Sodu, Mint will be back soon."
Krystal picked up Snookie and set her on the floor after whispering in her ear. Krystal told Snookie to make Sodu feel more at home and a bit happier. Snookie walked over and gently nosed Sodu. "I don't think your owner abandoned you. From what I understand, I think she went somewhere that you wouldn't be able to go in with her." The rainbow pup said. "She'll be back soon. In the mean time, do you want to play ball or something ? Or possibly help Krystal with some flowers ?" She was doing her best to make Sodu feel better.

Sodu refused to look at the human as she spoke to her. Her head was firmly slumped against the ground as well as her body. She barely responded to Snookie except for the occasional ear twitch.
By the end of Snookie's comments, Sodu reluctantly got up though continued to look at the door. "Yah that's it. She wouldn't leave without me. I'm too awesome to abandon." Sodu gave a cheeky grin to the white dog. "Let's go play!"
The red-purple dog ran circles around Snookie, hyper once more. She recovered quickly, never to take a middle ground in thought, opinion, or emotion. "Sooooo Snook, what do yah wanna play today?" She wagged her two tails around, playfully batting them against the white dog.

Snookie was happy that Sodu recovered quickly. She wagged her tails and barked happily, before she stared laughing slightly at Sodu being hyper and silly at the same time.
She thought about what to play for a moment, then smiled when she got an idea. "Tag !! You're it !!" She barked happily, before she started to run from Sodu and waited for the other puppy to chase her.
Meanwhile, Krystal was glad to see Sodu bounce back to normal and then went back to work re-potting flowers anf watering them.

"What! You didn't even tag me!" Sodu shouted cheerfully as she began her chase through the shop. "You can't out-run me!"
Sodu ran through the shop, twisting through pots and bouquets, chasing Snookie. CRASH! Sodu hid in the corner, with her ears tucked closely to the sides of her head. She tried to slink away with a guilty face. Pieces of glass littered the floor and the Casablanca Lilies were ruined.

"Oh, well. I still got you to chase me." Snookie said as she ran. She knew the shop well and also knew how to avoid the flower pots when turning corners quickly. However when she heard Sodu crash into one of the pots, she ran over to where she was. "Are you alright ?" Snookie asked.
Of course when Krystal heard a pot hit the floor and break, she immediately came running out of the back room. "Are you two alright ?" Krystal asked, before she saw what flowers got ruined. "Oh no !! Those flowers were kind of rare and the most expensive flowers I have in the shop." She then stared looking somewhat mad about the flowers. "Which one of you did this ?" She snapped at the puppies, until she saw the look on Sodu's face. "Bad puppy. Very bad puppy." She scolded.
She then went to cleaning up the broken pot, flowers, and potting soil. As she cleaned up the mess she realized that it was pointless to get upset over ruined flowers. She looked at both Snookie and Sodu, with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry you two, but I don't want to lose anymore stock, nor do I want either of you getting hurt. Now please be careful and don't run around the shop." She said as she carried the dust pan of trash to the trash can, leaving the puppies alone to play.
"What do you want to play now ?" Snookie asked. Krystal wasn't upset about the flowers anymore, she was more worried about the puppies than the flowers. Especially where the one wasn't even her dog. She didn't want to have to explain to Mint how her puppy got injured.

She looked away as Krystal scolded her. Sodu silently mumbled "I didn't mean to," as she became annoyed the tone of Krystal's voice. It was an accident, and Sodu had apologized. When Krystal came back Sodu huffed as she suddenly became apologetic. Well that's right! She looked over at Snookie and realized that she had asked her a question.
"Oh... I dunno." Sodu gave an empty stare into the outside window. "How about climbing? Is there a way to get to the roof of this building? We can breath some fresh air." Another reckless decision made. But to be honest she was happier than when she was with Mint because Sookie was much more hyper active than Sodu's human. Though Sodu can't resist being pampered by the timid human as well.
"Come on, let's go to the roof!" Sodu shouted as she ran to the back in looking for stairs to the attic. Otherwise large pieces of furniture to try to get onto such as counters and tables. "Last one is a rotten egg!"

When Krystal had gotten upset about the flowers, Snookie had merely stayed put with her ears flat against her head. She didn't like it when Krystal was mad. Afterwards she merely watched as Krystal apologized and then cleaned up the mess.
Shortly after that she looked at Sodu. "Alright." She said wagging her tails. "I think there's a vent in the attic that Krystal leaves open during the day on sunny days." After that Snookie ran after Sodu as she headed to the attic stairs.
