Plot

Everything that lives must one day die. When a human dies, their soul is either reborn as another human, as a pokemon, or rests in the realm of heaven should they have earned their place. When a Pokemon dies, it becomes a ghost until it can be reborn again. But what happens when a Legendary dies?

Under normal circumstances, Legendaries reincarnate themselves, retaining their memories, powers, everything. But all that changed when Cyrus and Team Galactic attempted to remake the world. While they failed to destroy the old world, a new universe was created and enclosed. In this act, all of the legendaries were tied to this new world, and when they die, this dimension would lose the Legendaries forever. Should that happen, the universe would go into a state of destructive chaos until all becomes nothing. And that tie to the new universe is quickly sapping the life energies of the Legendaries away.

To prevent this, the Legendaries must apply a new tactic. New legendaries must take their place. However, the imbalance caused by Cyrus has left Arceus powerless to simply create new entities. Instead, these new beings would have to be made by altering a select few of the living beings of the world. Primarily humans.

In order to ensure that those chosen would be suitable to become the next legendary Pokemon, each Legendary would personally choose their successor. Those chosen would start to develop powers related to their companion legendary. Over the next few months, their bodies would begin to change. The process itself would normally take a full year before the human became a permanent Legendary Pokemon, but if the human uses their powers often enough, then this process would be certainly sped up.

But some Johto scientists have caught glimpses of this occurring. Eager to capture the would-be Legendaries and bring them under his command, the president of Johto has set his military and secret service at high alert. Their orders: to capture these humans and have them brought into his custody where they can be subjected to experiments and brainwashing in order to bring the world under his command.

Your Role

You are one of the humans that a particular legendary Pokemon has chosen to become their successor. As such, you bare a mysterious tattoo somewhere on your body. You must learn how to do the things you would normally command your Pokemon to do. You must learn how to live a completely different way of life and how to cope with leaving behind those you care about.

You must also defend yourselves and each other the Johto government's attacks and traps. Unite together and take them down, try to take Johto's military on by yourself, or try to live a life on the run, the choice is yours.

Another road you might take: you can play as a normal human who has found out about these going-ons and you want to help protect the legend-humans from the Johto military. Perhaps you're a childhood friend of one of these legend humans, or a travel companion, or even a rival.

About Your Powers

As a legend-human, You will be able to transform into your counterpart legendary a total of seven times before the change is permanent. While changing into a legendary form is as easy as simply willing it, changing back into a human becomes more difficult with each time. After the fourth transformation, your body will keep certain features. Your skin may become a different color or grow fur/grass/feathers/etc., you may develop a tail. Only when you are in your legendary form can you use that Pokemon's attack moves. However, you may have powers while in your human form that are attributed to your legendary companion. (ie., The ability to hover/fly, being able to read the surface thoughts of others are fine. )

Such a strange feeling this type of flying was. I had been used to riding my Altaria, but this psychic flying was truly unique. It was not by my power, but Mewtwo's as he guided me to the meeting place. As we landed, I could see how much Mewtwo had weakened. For a Pokemon that was said to be the most powerful of all, such an ability could not have normally been a problem. Evidently, this whole mess concerning the former Team Galactic was truly taking its toll on the legendary Pokemon.

Mewtwo guided me into the dimly lit passageways of the ruins and used his powers to open a hidden doorway which led into the inner sanctum of the ruins. The room was huge, in both height and space. It was as if it could be used as a meeting place for the majority of the Legendary Pokemon. Of course humongous Pokemon like Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza certainly wouldn't be able to fit. The walls were lit by torches, flames created by Moltres and Ho-oh so they could never be extinguished. But even those flames felt weaker, barely illuminating the grand, large room. It sickened me how people could be so self-centered in their own desires that they would bring such tragedy to the universe just to satisfy their goals. While Team Galactic was no more, I know there would always be people like them. If history has taught me anything, it has been that much. Good and evil will always exist in the hearts of people and pokemon alike, but people are the ones who can shape the world the most, even though they may not possess the powers of a Pokemon. Perhaps that is why Arceus and the other legends decided to select humans to take their place, in the belief that we ourselves can change this world and prevent a tragedy like this from occurring ever again.

Mewtwo spoke into my mind. So, I was about to meet the head honcho of all of the legendary Pokemon. Any normal trainer would be excited with their hearts racing. However, given the circumstances, my heart was sunk. All of the most powerful and magnificent Pokemon in the world were coming close to their death beds. While I lost everything I loved save for my own Pokemon and thus had nothing to lose and everything to gain, for those with something precious to lose, I could imagine how difficult this whole thing must be for them.

Soon, the Alpha Pokemon, the God who created all that is, appeared in the ruins before them all. There were still may more legends that were not accounted for, but time was growing short. Those present would have to relay the information should they come across the others. Arceus stepped forward to address those present. "Greetings. I am certain you have all been made aware of the situation at the very least in part. We are dying. Under normal circumstances, when those of us that hold important functions to the flow of the universe die, we are reborn shortly after to ensure the safety of this world and the many others that inhabit this universe. However, when the one known as Cyrus created his universe, the red chains did more than just bend Palkia and Dialga to his will, they bound the souls of every legendary pokemon to his new universe. That unnatural bond is what is siphoning our lives away, and when we are reborn once more, it will not be in this universe. Without us, this universe would crumble into chaos and inevitably, oblivion. Even the realms of the afterlife and the reverse world would not be spared." the Alpha pokemon spoke.

"You may wonder why it is you were chosen instead of Pokemon or why I did not simply create new versions of all that is needed. Normal Pokemon, while they have personalities, hearts and souls of their own, do not have the kind of influence on the world that humans do. Humans can shape the course of the world, for better or for worse. They have determination and cunning minds greater than normal Pokemon. It is in this that I feel the task is best suited for humans to take upon these roles. While I could simply create new versions of ourselves, I no longer have the strength to do so, at least not for so many. It is easier to simply imbue that power into each of you and let it grow naturally."

Once more the creator looked to those before him. "You humans have been embed by your respective partners with their essences. You must adapt to your powers and learn how to use them within one year. As time progresses with our absence, the world, and even the universe, will start to suffer. You will be forced to use your powers to counteract these upsets. In order to do this, you will need to transform yourselves into us. This can be accomplished by simply willing it to happen. However, the simplicity ends there. When you first transform, you'll find that maintaining your new form is very difficult and taxing. Your clothes, carried gear and Pokeballs will be melded into your new body, and your Pokemon will be forced out of their Pokeballs so that they are not absorbed into you.

At most I presume you'll only be able to handle the strain for maybe five or ten of your minutes before you revert back to your human form. Each subsequent time you use this power, the easier it will be to maintain your new form, and the harder it will be to revert back to your human form. I would say that after the fourth transformation things will flip. After the fourth transformation, you will be unable to return to a fully human form, and eventually being in your human form will become taxing and exhausting.

Upon your seventh transformation, you will never again be human in the physical sense. You will truly be one of us and your essences will be permanently tied to this universe. Most of you will probably live for eons before you die, and even then you will simply be reborn as the legendaries you are about to become. This is the great cycle of life, death and rebirth.

There is one last thing, and this is vital. It has already been proven throughout history and especially by the recent actions of Team galactic that humans with evil intent will try to capture and enslave you in order to serve their own purposes. Always be wary of whom you trust. Always be aware of those who might try to take advantage of you." Arceus concluded.
