She wove her way through the trees and shrubs, looking for somewhere secluded where she could hide and chew her kill. The birds above screeched warning at her passing, or maybe mourned the death of their comrade whom she carried in her jaws.
She came to a shallow stream and pause, looking back and forth along the water. There was a good hiding place on the other side, she was fairly certain. Now just to make sure that no one saw her go there.

Just a little ways down the river, he was leaning over the bank, stretching his neck out to lap at the cool running water. If he knew someone had approached, he didn't show it. When he finished his drink, he nonchalantly lifted his head, and glanced around. He spotted the female up the river, but he made no move toward her. It was no business of his what she was doing.

She spotted the strange male and shyed away, hoping he wouldn't notice her cross the river and go into her hiding place.
Still, there was a chance he'd follow. She'd have to be careful and make sure she was alone before she got too comfortable.

He was a little bit curious of her since he didn't know too many other wolves, especially not those of the female persuasion. He continued to watch her cross closely, his ears swivelled in her direction, but he never moved from his spot on the bank. Curious or not, it really wasn't his business.

Once on the other side she shook off the excess water and made her way into the underbrush. Not far now. The other hadn't gotten up when she walked by but for all she knew that could have been an act.
Hide for a while. If he didn't appear relax a bit and chew at her kill. Then, no matter what, move on and find somewhere else to finish it. Ideally she should have just looked for another place to begin with but she was too hungry.

Dorje swished his tail back and forth, eyes locked on the spot she had disappeared into. No matter how many times he told himself it wasn't his business, he really wanted to make it his business. If only she'd been another animal, or at the very least, male. He could have left it alone.
Getting to his feet, he hesitated, then began to inch up the bank toward her hiding spot. He had been watching her. Maybe he should introduce himself.

As she settled her tummy rumbled and she lost her composure, tearing into the bird eagerly. He wouldn't follow her, surely he wouldn't. Well, for her kill maybe... but the bird wasn't big, maybe he hadn't seen it. Most likely he hadn't.
She heard a rustling in the bush and lifted her head. Was she wrong after all?

Outside the bush, he paused. Should he even bother? Sitting on his haunches, he tried to peer in to see if he could spot her. "Er.." He cleared his throat, shifting his weight around.
"Hello?"

She felt the fur on the back of her neck rise and she growled. Oh no he wasn't! He wasn't stealing her kill! It wasn't even much! A small bird, and even then not much of it was left!
Running could work, but it would be better if she could hold her ground without having to spend too much energy. He'd leave, she'd make him.

"I don't mean to interrupt... whatever it is you're doing, but I figured that since I was rudely staring at you, I should introduce myself." He couldn't see her in there, but he thought he heard something. "My name is Dorje."

She relaxed a little. Seriously? He thought he was being RUDE?
"Keriyen," she said in reply. Pushing her kill aside so that it was at least a little hidden. "Are you pulling my leg?"

"Excuse me?" He looked a bit confused. "I don't think so... What do you mean?"

She tried to pear through the brush to get a look at him, "I've just never had someone follow me to apologize for staring! It's a bit silly..."
Unless that wasn't really the reason, but why?

He felt his face go hot under his fur. It was a pretty silly reason. "I guess so... I'm sorry. I just don't know very many female wolves, and I thought it'd be nice to meet you."

She stepped forward and stuck her nose through the brush to get a better look at him. "You don't have a pack either, do ya?" it was more of a statement then a question.
