Jianyu was in the midst of an argument.
"Twelve gold Lunarians is quite an adequate price for three bushels of corn." he said, for what seemed like the hundredth time. These farmers were just too stubborn and out of touch with the rest of Lunaria to find that what he was offering was, in fact, several Lunarians above the normal asking price. He folded his arms across his chest, glaring at the farmers.
After quite a bit of arguing, some haggling, and finally an agreement, Jianyu handed over thirteen gold Lunarians to the moronic farmers and headed towards the grain shed to pick up the pre-ordered corn. Pushing open the doors, he walked over to where his food was normally held.
Except this time there was a slight problem.
Well. More of a slight person. Jianyu frowned.
"Er." he said. "What are you doing with my corn?"

Cais had been sent on an errand, which he outright resented. Though his family was "in", or what could be considered "in", with the regulars on market days it didn't make things any easier to call on them for supplies. This day showed no difference, leaving him muttering snidely to himself while picking corn from the grain shed. "Aye, go pick some from the shed yersself." he mocked quietly to himself, repeating the words that the farmer had instructed when he had arrived earlier. To add to his dismay the farmer had failed to spare a second glance, quelling any protests he may have had to suggestion. Thoroughly unamused, he made his way to the shed, stepping inside to a brand new headache. He had failed to ask where, and now the Lunarian found himself floundering to locate the corn in question.
Attempting to hurry with the egregious task at hand, he had inadvertently stumbled across a stack of bushels, neatly (as neat as it could be) packed away. A sigh of relief escaped his chest as he greedily took hold of the first bushel.
Suddenly he heard a voice behind him.
"What are you doing with my corn?"
His vibrant eyes glanced the way of the voice. "It's yours?" he questioned, still keeping a hold of one of the bushels in question.

Jianyu frowned. This boy was looking at him with a defiant expression, still clutching the corn to his chest. Jianyu's corn that he just spent the past hour arguing with those idiotic farmers about. Yet what was this...this kid doing with his corn? From the way that he was gripping it, it was clear that he was just as confused and determined as Jianyu was, though Jianyu was not quite certain as to the reason for that. It was obvious that it was, in fact, not his corn, but Jianyu's. He picked it up from the same place every week, and the fact that someone else was trying to take it was not acceptable.
"Yes." Jianyu said cautiously, eyeing the boy with a wary reluctance. "Yes, that is mine. I have paid the fees for it, and I do not appreciate you attempting to claim what is not yours."

From his stance Cais could see that the young man before him was trained. He wasn't aware in what precisely, but the sharp gaze from his eyes were those of a fighter, someone trained in the ways of battle. Cais gritted his teeth but held his ground. Regardless of the warning gaze he held tightly to the bushel.
"Forgive me to point out the obvious," he began, turning to face him directly, "But there are no names written on any of these. How can you prove that these are yours?"
He was annoyed. Why would the farmer sent him in to collect corn that could possibly belong to someone else? Eventually he and the farmer would have words, but for now he held his attention to the task at hand.

Jianyu was slightly flummoxed. He did not much appreciate the insinuation that this boy was making; that he, Jianyu, a Fighter of the Legion, was, in fact, not telling the truth. Despite the fact that there was no real way of determining whether or not the sacks of corn the boy held were Jianyu's, he got his grain from the same place each and every week. He did not like that his routine had been disrupted, nor did he like the fact that this...this boy was attempting to steal what was not his.
"That is my grain. " Jianyu said hotly, his fingers absently touching the wood of his bow. "And I do not like what you are implying. Who are you? And what do you want with my corn?"

Adrenaline coursed through Cais's veins as the fingers of his opponent gracefully made their way to his bow. The tension in the air grew tighter while the fighter before him sliced at Cais with his words. Behind the tone of his voice Cais could feel the aggravation escaping off every word... though he didn't much care for it. Scowling, he turned back to the pile of bushels, tossing the one he had been clinging to back where he had found it from.
Turning his attention back, his eyes sharply found the fighters'.
"It's no implication." He started, feeling his emotions flush, "You can't prove it's yours, which makes it free range, wouldn't you agree?" There was a pause between them, then with another breath. "I also don't feel the need to explain myself to you."
After he had finished, their eyes remained locked, another wave of tension billowing out into the air of the hut.

Jianyu scowled. This youth was quite too volatile for his own good, not to mention his stubbornness and unwillingness to admit that he was stealing was downright irritating. Jianyu found that he quite disliked this boy.
"It is my corn - " Jianyu started to argue angrily, but he was interrupted by a loud, rumbling noise. Turning his head, his eyes fell on a rather large, rather horrific looking...thing. A snarling, slobbering, growling creature from the depths of hell itself.
A dog. And by the looks of it, not a particularly friendly one. Jianyu took a step backwards, haltingly casting an irritated glare back at the boy.
"I will prove to you that it is mine." he shot at him. "And I will take it back from you."
The dog snapped its jaws. Jianyu took another step backwards. Then another as the creature advanced towards the both of them. Jianyu nearly collided with the boy standing behind him in his haste to move out of the animal's path.
"Well, don't just stand there, idiot!" he snapped, and with a quick push he darted around the youth just as the dog leapt towards them, its jaws cracking open and a hostile snarl escaping its throat.

Cais was thrown from the adrenaline of an imminent argument to a sudden fear which gripped him. Hearing the rumbling growl of the beast averted his gaze towards it. Was it... a dog? Or what seemed to share a similar body. As the fighter moved closer to him his words became a mutter, blurring out to the grumble of the dog. With a snap of its fangs Cais could see the fighter move within inches of him. Frozen, he could see the wiry beast move forward, inching closer to them, jaw snapping.
"...idiot!"
Cais snapped out of his daze just in time to duck away from the jaws, flustered he fell backwards, landing hard.
"Nnh!" The sound escaped his throat as he scrambled back up to his feet, now opposite the fighter. "What the-" he began, watching the beast shake his head, rolling it back and forth. Another low growl rumbled in the hut With a grunt he managed a, "Now what?" with a shocked look to the fighter.

"How the hell should I know 'now what?!'" Jianyu snapped, skirting around in a lopsided circle around the snarling beast. It turned its massive face towards him, drool lining its jaws. That was rather disgusting, Jianyu thought, but he refrained from showing his horror at the loathsome creature. Instead, he grabbed for his bow - only to have his hand come away empty.
"What the hell - ?!"
In his haste to get away from the creature (both of them, Jianyu thought, eyeing the boy with an expression of great dislike) he had shoved aside the boy and scrambled around him, knocking into him. The movement had jostled the bow tied to his waist, and the rope had loosened, his most prized and precious possession now lying on the dusty, dirt floor...right in front of the feet of the dog. Jianyu let out a string of profanities, most of which were quite foul and that he usually reserved for Bataar.
The dog advanced towards him, and Jianyu hastily backstepped, twisting his body slightly as his fingers touched a bundle of hay. They were stacked four high, and with a quick heave, Jianyu pulled himself up onto the bales of hay, teetering unsteadily on the uneven surface. At least now he was slightly above the creature, who seemed to be deciding which way to go, him or the other boy.
"This is all your fault!" he grumbled, shooting a dark glare at the boy across from him. "If you hadn't been trying to steal my food, we would not be in this predicament now!"

Watching the creature draw closer to the fighter was slightly amusing and gave Cais time to back to the corner of the room, well out of the way of the impending altercation. With a sudden movement he noticed the fighter heave himself up out of the way. Crap, he thought. With the fighter now above the beast it turned its attention squarely on Cais, snarling loudly with a slow approach, snapping at the air.
Frantically feeling behind him he managed to find a small work table just in time to avoid a lunge of sharp fangs. Scooting to the wall behind the table he watched the creature back off, now darting its eyes wildly between the two Lunarians now above its reach, growling in frustration.
"How can this be MY fault?!" He yelled, shooting a similar glare of dislike and disgust his way. "You didn't have any proof that food was yours, if anyone is to blame it would be you. If you had just let me take it I would have been on my way!" Turning his attention back towards the dog the predicament became somewhat hopeless. Cais noticed the fighter's bow on the floor, any hope of his help lingered with it. Grunting, he cursed himself for not having a weapon of his own.
"There's got to be a way out of this..." he muttered, looking around for any sort of tool he could use to bait the dog away. Rummaging on the table all he could find was packing supplies and tools, nothing that looked to be useful. "Just perfect." he grumbled, glaring back to the fighter.

Jianyu was not particularly pleased with the fact that he was, in fact, standing on top of a stack of hay bales in the middle of a storehouse, facing off against a massive, snarling dog. The vehemently obnoxious teenager glaring at him from across the room also did not help the situation much. Jianyu scowled.
"Do not make excuses for your idiocy!" he yelled, then staggered unsteadily as the great beasted thing leapt up suddenly, its jaws gaping wide as it aimed for one of Jianyu's legs. He kicked out, managing to catch it in the side of its head, and it let out a howl of pain and irritation, momentarily stopping it in its path. However, the movement threw off Jianyu's balance, and he stumbled and fell off of his perch, landing on his backside on the wooden floor. Angrily, he was back on his feet in seconds, brushing himself off.
There it was. His bow, lying a few feet away. Jianyu cast a glance back at the creature, which was eyeing him with a look of great dislike. He just needed to step forward a few steps...a few more...
Jianyu dived. The dog leapt. And Jianyu rolled underneath it, his fingers scrabbling for his bow. He missed it! But wait - his forefinger close around the familiar wood, and Jianyu yanked up triumphantly. However, now the dog was standing right next to him, rumbling with hatred. Jianyu scrambled backwards, climbing up onto the nearest precipice - namely the very same table that the young Hooligan was on. Jianyu glared at him.
"Go away!" he snapped. "Except leave my food when you do!"

It was the same excitement as watching the performance in a circus, except at the circus the performers weren't trying to kill you or insult you. The situation was spiraling beyond that of being merely unpleasant. Cais felt hot, an ebbing of anger leaping to escape from his throat. He refrained only to not cause the beast to avert his attention. Leaning back in the table as far as he could he watched the agile fighter land a blow on the dog and fall to the floor from his perch. Serves him right, Cais thought loudly to himself, nearly making the remark audible.
Animosity was growing between the two Lunarians. Though frightened of the beast a deep seed of loathing towards the fighter is what pulled his attention. Watching him squirm and tumble around brought a smile to his face. As made his approach it quickly changed back to a frown. The table lurched as his weight pressed down on it.
His angry words fell hard like ice falling into the sea. Cais shot a look of hatred back at him. "For the last time, there was no proof it was-" His sentence was cut off by the beast jumping at them, shining fangs gleaming in the little light in which the hut had to offer. Cais let out a frightened grunt and backed as far as he could, staring hatefully at the fighter. "Now it's got us pinned here, idiot." He made the last word as harsh as he could, but truth was truth. "And if you're expecting me to jump down there and distract it for you, you're absolutely crazy. How about you go away?! I was here first!"
The predicament was becoming more bleak. As much as Cais loathed the fighter near him, he was the best bet for getting rid of the dog. The problem with the best bet was that it called for a certain civility he was repressing as of the moment.

"What the hell?!" Jianyu snapped at the boy, the table wobbling unsteadily beneath both of their combined weight. Beneath them, the great beast of a dog was snapping its jaws, saliva coating its teeth in a rather disgusting manner. Jianyu resisted the urge to simply pick up this young hooligan and throw him to the ground. He had the sinking suspicion that he was stuck in this predicament with a Noble, which made it all the more worse. However, he had the advantage now - namely the bow in his hand. Jianyu reached around to his back, sliding an arrow from his sheath.
"Get out of my way." he snarled, shoving the younger boy aside. Stringing his bow, Jianyu tilted his shot downwards, pulling back the string as he found his target.
Now.
He let go. The arrow whipped from his fingers, embedding itself into the side of the dog. It let out a ghastly howl of pain then collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily for a moment before becoming completely silent. That target out of the way, Jianyu turned his attention to his other problem. His hand shot out, and gripping the boy roughly by his shirtfront, yanked him up.
"I should kill you right now for trying to steal from me." Jianyu said darkly, his fingers clenching around his bow.

Watching the fighter draw his arrow made Cais somewhat nervous. The dog was trying it's best to get at them, the table wobbling uncontrollably. Suddenly he was shoved aside and heard a howl. Looking from where he had been shoved he saw the dog quickly become lethargic then finally fall, for what Cais assumed to be the dogs death. A sigh of relief left him as he stared at it, finally it was over, save for one problem.
Before he had time to react he felt himself pulled roughly upwards. Shocked, he grabbed hold of the fighter's hand, digging into it as hard as his grip could. A murderous glare found his own eyes as he looked back at the fighter who now held tightly to his weapon. "Let... go!" he grunted, squirming as best as he could. He had always felt he had strong arms, but the fighter was easily stronger than him and held his grip. Probably from years of training, Cais guessed, but as of the moment wasn't impressed by that fact. He wanted down, and badly. It was degrading enough to need his help, but to have him keep a hold of him? Unbearable.
In the midst of his squirming Cais heard the word kill, but initially hadn't believed him. Not until a few moments had passed and it was painfully apparent he wasn't letting go. Suddenly a twinge of fear crept up his spine, angrily he glared back at the fighter. Every bone in his body wanted to tell him to go ahead with it to call his bluff, but a thought in his head had convinced him of the contrary. Nothing in his mind sounded like a good response, so he went with a bad one. "What do you want? An apology?" Even facing potential death Cais couldn't help his own attitude, even if he was half-way being sincere. He would rather appease the brute (as he was in Cais's eyes) than have an arrow in him matching the one in the dog.
