Private rp between myself and AlexiaSilver. Daylight was fading into dusk now. You could just see a hint of stars in the sky if you looked closely past the lingering touches of daylight. It had been eventful that day for the mare, her first taste of life in the lowlands beneath the mountains she had so reciently called home. Giving a deep sigh, Sunshine smiled and thought of the interesting Soquili she had met that day. A grey and white mare with horns spiraling up from her head came to mind first, along with the curious rabbit familiar perched upon her back. Her name had been Kalen'dri, the little rabbit was Trin. They were very courteous and had graciously offered Sunshine a safe place to stay the night. There were others there, along with a strange two-legger that took care of the varried Soquili that lingered around the teepee. But Kalen'dri had said they were all pretty good sorts and the cream and brown mare was likely welcome to stay as long as she wanted.
So that was where she was headed, pausing at the edge of the forest where her new home may lie, studying it thoughtfully. Kalen'dri's directions had been pretty simple. Find the path at the edge of the forest and follow it through until she reached the lake. From there, all the himalayan mare had to do was follow the beach and she was sure to run into one of the stallions that also stayed at the teepee. But first she had to enter the forest.
Ears flicking, she glanced back at the setting sun with a small frown, hoping that the moon would be bright enough to light her way even slightly. Giving another sigh, the blue eyed mare moved forward, finding a path between the trees easily enough. Now all she had to do was follow it to the lake and she would be able to rest for the night.

Bones stretched and cracked back into their proper sockets. One moment he was a feline, the next he was back to his original form. Or was it his original form? He had been like this for so long that he could hardly remember his origin. He had met many of his kind before. Some left him with scars from battle, others he hunted with for short trips. But those days were behind him. Now, Godric traveled and lived by himself. It was best for him and the other creatures living around him. Skinwalkers traveling in packs just called for chaos. If he could help it, he wouldn't be apart of it.
Blood still stained his muzzle from an earlier kill. The crimson spatter was hardly visible on his black coat, yet the smell of it drove the beast inside of him wild. Godric bent down and dipped his head to wipe his face off on the grass. After he was sure that he had gotten it all off, he lifted his head.
The end of his hunt had taken him to the edge of a forest that he recognized. Relief hit him. Sometime he would 'wake up' in unknown places. It scared him slightly, and he slowly got more used to it. He always managed to find his way back. I believe that there is a lake not to far from here... Godric had a bath in mind. The sun was setting and he would get there by dark. Hopefully there wouldn't be any other lingering Soquili when he arrived. Starting towards the forest, Godric soon found the shape of another Soquili in the corner of his eye. He could tell by it's height and build that it was a female. He stayed at distance, waiting for her to notice him. His tail hit the ground beneath him, trying to let the mare know that he was near. If she ran, it would probably be best. Yet, curiosity as to why she was there sprouted in his mind.

The sun may have still been casting its fading rays on the field she had just left, but here in the forest, night had already fallen. The moon was just starting to glitter behind the leaves and nighttime creatures were stirring from their nests.
Sunshine stood still a moment on the path, watching as the night came alive, fireflies wobbling their way up blades of grass and leaves before taking flight into the air. She leaned forward, snuffling lightly at a firefly and giving a soft giggle as it landed on her muzzle. She listened to it buzz before gently shaking it off to watch it fly away into the trees. She was facinated, staring around her. It was all so different from the mountains, so much life.
Her ears flicked madly as she tried to catch all the sounds around her. The hoot of an owl. The trees settling and creaking against one another. Soft wing beats as bats took to the air. The gentle hum of fireflies as they flitted from the ground and into the air. The muffled thump of something solid beating against the ground in a regular rhythm. Wait...She stilled, head tilting and her eyes narrowing slightly. That was a sound that wasn't common in nature.
The mare turned slowly, flicking her tail as she sought out the source of the sound. "Hello? Who's there?" She called, her voice ringing clearly out into the night.

He had been watching her for awhile before she noticed him. It had given him more time to observe her appearance. In the fading light, he could tell that her coat was light- darkening down her legs and tail. The golden horn and leonine tail gave her away as a Uni. If he was hungry, she would have been an ideal prey. Luckily, to the two of them, his stomach was full and content right now, giving him the power to be Sane. Godric blinked in fascination. Fireflies danced around her. It must have been the soft glow of her horn that attracted them. Glimpsing around himself, he noted that no fireflies dared to get close to his large build. When he looked up again, she was looking his way. Godric huffed when she called out. It would have been best for find out what he was before asking who he was. But, Godric was Godric. The stallion took a few steps closer to her before answering. He wanted to make sure that she got a good look at him to decide whether he was safe to talk to or not. "I am sorry for startling you, my dear." Godric bowed his head slightly, "My name is Godric, and I would be what the natives call a 'Skinwalker'"

There was no reply for such a drawn out moment that she was beginning to think she'd imagined the noise. Until the other spoke, then she couldn't help but twitch in surprise, ears flattening before lifting once again.
"Oh! That's alright. You introduced yourself so you've made up for startling me. My name is Sunshine. It's a pleasure to meet you, Godric." She said with a smile, pacing a few steps closer so she could see him better. His legs and the underside of his neck and head were dark, but the rest of him was covered in a pale spotted hide of some sort. The effect made it seem like the pelt was floating in the air. She repressed another shiver before her ears lay back.
"Skinwalker? I've heard mentions of such from those I've met today....But you don't seem the same." She observed, head tilting and pricking her ears back up once more. Her tail flicked as she paced another few steps closer, peering closely at the hide on his back. Her muscles were tensed though, in case she had to try to run away. He could be one of those types that lured one in close then attacked. She'd met those before....She hoped he wasn't one.

Godric bowed his head again when she forgave him. It was good to know that she was polite right off the back. The mare's name was Sunshine. Never had he come across a creature with that name, in all of his years. The light, happy way that she talked fit her name. "And it is a pleasure to meet you as well, Sunshine." He couldn't help but to smile back at her in greeting.
"I could just be waiting for you to let me approach you to strike." It was as if he had read her fears and addressed them outloud. It was true though, some skinwalkers went to lengths to play with their prey before doing away with them. Godric was impressed with her observation skills, "Though you are right, I'm not like them" He waited, letting her approach him. He could tell that she was tense. It would be her full decision as to trust him enough to get close. He couldn't remember the last time that he actually had a talk with somebody else. He wasn't going to do anything to scare her off. "May I ask you, Sunshine, why you are out here alone tonight? There are not many of my kind around in this area, yet it is still not safe to be alone at this hour," The way he spoke made what he said eerie.

She frowned at him when he seemed to read the fears from her mind. "I would hope you'll not attack me. I'd rather be your friend than your next meal." She said cheerfully, tilting her head and looking him in the eyes, squinting slightly to study him. The eye contact didn't last long, since her eyes crossed slightly to focus on the firefly that lit on the end of her muzzle. She wrinkled her nose and huffed before looking back to him, slowly relaxing when she couldn't sense any ill intent coming from the stallion.
"Ahh...I'm trying to find the lake. I've just come down from the mountains." The mare said, sorrow crossing her face and darkening her eyes with tears before she shook her head and took a deep breath. "Meeting new faces and finding out about this area. A kind mare that I met earlier today said I could meet someone at the lake that might give me a safe place to stay the night. That's where I was heading until I met you." She finished explaining, tail swishing lazily behind her as she continued to study him.
It was getting easier to see him as the moon's light grew brighter and her eyes became more accustomed to the night. But he was still covered in shadows from the trees above them. She wanted to see him better....She blinked and giggled as the fireflies flitted around the two of them, landing on her mane and flitting to perch across Godric's shoulders and head. "Now I can see you better." She teased, eyes dancing and her face wrinkling with her smile.

"I will not attack you, not like this" Godric spoke, leaving out the detail that he had already had his full earlier. She spoke of being his friend? The term wasn't unknown to him, but he never thought to associate it with anyone. He didn't have any friends. For a good reason. Godric didn't dare to stick around anyone besides 'his own kind' for longer than a day or two. Past that time, it would be too dangerous for him to stick around. "I would prefer that as well," His deep green eyes blinked slowly. He almost laughed when her eyes crossed at the firefly on her nose. A smirk settled on his lips instead when she blew it off.
She said that she was headed to a lake to meet up with somebody? He could smell the water from here, so it couldn't be too far away. Godric knew what body of water she was speaking of. Many Soquili went there to graze and drink. An ideal hunting spot for any predator, though it should be unpopulated at this hour. Smelling a tiny hint of salt in the air he turned his attention back to the mare just in time to see the sad look on her face. If he had known her better, he would have asked what was wrong. He pushed his curiosity to the back of his mind. If it came up again later, he would offer to listen to anything she had to tell. "If you would like, I could escort you to this lake. Things lurk in the woods at this hour, and my presents alone will keep them at bay." Godric offered, wanting to see her smile again. Such a gentle female shouldn't look so sad. Just as Godric was going to fall back into his thoughts, he was startled when she started laughing. It seemed that even more fireflies had discovered them. With some humor he shook his coat free of them, watching as they all took flight and swirled around his body before moving back towards Sunshine. "They do make it easier to see in the dark," He smiled, hiding his teeth. He didn't want her to know that his sight in the dark was just as good as it was in the light. Godric took the last few steps between them, stopping at her side. "Shall we go? Maybe your new friends will follow us?" The forest in front of them was already glowing with the bugs. He could see them weaving in between trees, and coming to rest on the branches. It would make it much easier to escort the mare through.

"I would be most grateful for an escort. And the company." She said, giving a graceful little bow of thanks before smiling once more. It was hard to catch her without some sort of smile on her face. "You can tell me of this land and the ones who live here while we walk." Glancing around, she twitched her skin, shedding little fireflies and watching him walk up next to her. She didn't tense, only stood there relaxed. He said he wouldn't attack her, and she believed him. Not trusted, not yet, since he was still a dangerous predator and could likely kill her without trying too hard. But for the moment, she was firm in the knowledge that she was safe in his presence. And it was a relief to know that other dangers of the night would steer clear while she was with him.
"Yes, they do light up quite a bit when there are so many in the air. I've never see bugs that gave off light like these do. It was too cold for such things where I lived." Sunshine observed before glancing up at him again. "But I'd guess you don't need much light at all to see in the dark." This was said with a gentle chuckle before she moved a few steps forward.

"It would be my pleasure," Godric spoke, smiling back at the mare. It was good to see her in a happier mood. He could see that she was still very tense around him, which he wouldn't disagree with. She should feel like that around his kind. "No, I do not" Godric answered honestly, to her question about his sight. He had no need to hide such a... trait from her. She wasn't his prey, so he didn't care if she knew just how lucky he was when it came to wandering at night. "Shall we get going?" Godric offered, stepping forwards. She wanted to know about the land. Hmmm... Good or bad first? Bad. Godric decided. Best to get the worst out of the way first. Hopefully after that, the walk would be much lighter. Walking into the woods, side by side, Godric cleared his throat before speaking. "Well, first I will teach you what breeds you shouldn't be around. There are kinds of Soquili that you should watch out for." Godric paused in step, "Kalona's are known as killers. They have spade like tails and multiple horns. Their wings are leathery, and their hooves cloven. I haven't come across many of them, but those that I have were not very forgiving. They can be very teritorial. It's best to stay away from them, if you can. Kalona's are meat eaters and wouldn't hesitate to take a uni like you down." Godric took a deep breath in. She had to know about the dangers of the world if she wanted to survive. " And lastly, there are a one's with furs like me. My breed, Skinwalkers, are known to be very dangerous. I have never met one before that isn't a blood thirsty beast. We're stronger than most, and can run at very high speeds. The only breed that really stands a large chance against us are mutants, and Angeni." He paused again to make sure that Sunshine was still listening. "One of our greatest abilities is out animal forms. I am a catwalker, thus I have a cat form. It makes us look like a familiar. Alot less scary than what we really are." Taking a deep breath in, he smiled at the mare that stood beside him. "Any questions?"

Sunshine walked beside him, keeping her attentions divided between Godric and the ground she walked on. It wouldn't do for her to stumble in a hole or trip over a branch and hurt herself. "I've heard about both kinds. Mostly it was legends and stories brought back to my village from those who'd ventured to the lowlands." She told him before nodding. "I saw a few Kalona when I was coming down from the mountains. But they were in the distance and I was thankfully downwind of them. They did look rather fearsome, even from the distance I watched them at."
When he went about explaining his own kind, she nodded and listened closely. "I've met one before that isn't a bloodthirsty beast." She teased, her tone light as she tilted her head to the side, her tail swishing behind her. "It is understandable that your kind would be stronger and faster. You would need to be, to be top predator over such others like Kalonas and even your own kind." She paused, thinking before going on. "So a Skinwalker's animal form can be anything? Though I would guess it's mainly predators like wolves, bears and cats, correct?" She gave a sudden giggle and tossed her head. "Since I can't imagine a squirrel or mouse skinwalker to be a very fearsome sight." The image amused her greatly, as evidenced by the way her eyes sparkled with laughter.

He was pleased to hear that she had already heard stories of both breeds. It wouldn't have been good for her family to release her into the world without knowledge of what was out there. He was happy to know that she had never gotten harmed by any of them either. It took Godric a moment to realize she was talking about HIM, when she commented on knowing a non-bloodthirsty skinwalker. His eyes softened slightly. She had just given him one of the greatest compliments that he could have ever wanted. If only it was true all of the time. He listened on to what Sunshine was saying, keeping instep with her the whole way.
Godric laughed before he could stop himself. A squirrel skinwalker? Who would have thought? His smile widened, showing off his sharp teeth. "I would imagine that if they were out there, maybe they would be that small breed of Soquili." Godric thought for a second. What where they called? "Usdia. Yes." His smile turned into a smirk. What a humorous thought. "I'm not sure what they would hunt though. I couldn't picture one of them taking down a full grown Soquili. And to answer your question, Yes. As long as they have the pelt, they can turn into the animal. Some are rarer than others. Cats, wolves, coyotes, and foxes being the most common." Godric had met a few different breeds before, but that was a long time ago. Those breeds were much different than the typical cat/wolf. It was more of a challenge to hunt them. "Have you ever come across a mutant?" Godric asked, slightly curious.

She giggled again. "Maybe they would travel in packs? Many smaller predators do tend to do that. Though lets just hope that there never are smaller Skinwalkers running around one of these days. It's enough to have to worry about the bigger predators without having to worry if the squirrel watching you from a tree is going to change and try to rip your throat out." She huffed, but her tone was light even with such serious talk. She knew the darker parts of the world, but there was no use being depressed or sad about it. It was just how life was.
Her steps paused briefly at his question before she walked on, golden hooves picking delicately down the path beside him. She thought, recalling those she had encountered reciently, since there was no one in the village that had been anying but normal. "I haven't met all that many Soquili since I arrived. I might have....But I don't know enough about how Soquili look around here to be able to judge if what I saw was a mutation, or just how that particular breed looked." She glanced to him, one ear tilted back questioningly. "Why do you ask?"

Godric snorted at the thought of a Squirrel trying to rip his throat out. He didn't think that it was something he would ever have to worry about, but for her sake he agreed. Godric shrugged, "I have come across few. Some are to be feared, yet other are not. They can be either, good or bad." Godric glanced to his side at her. The fireflies were still dancing around them. He felt like he knew the path to the lake like the back of his hand. "What I'm trying to say, is that not all of them are to be feared? Even some halfbreed Kalona's are decent." He had only come across one in his life time, but knew that there had to be more like him out there. "There is an exception to every breed. It would be wrong to say that every breed is alike to their group personality." He was proof of that. "But, I still think that you shouldn't trust most. At least not until they prove that they do not mean to harm you," Godric offered Sunshine another smile. The smell of the lake was growing stronger. They were walking at a rather slow pace. Godric was enjoying her company. It had been so long since he had the chance to just talk to someone. "Can you heal?" The question slipped out before he gave it a second thought. Wasn't she the one who was supposed to ask questions? He'd try to keep his mouth shut next time.

The mare listened and nodded before snorting in amusement. "I was never one for judging someone I've just met by appearances alone. If one were to judge everyone by appearances alone, some of the best conversations in life might never come to be. You might never find a friend or lover simply because you decided to judge them by how they looked and not by their words and actions." She said, glancing at him and smiling. "I'd never be having this conversation with you if I had run when we first met." Her tone was happy as she said this, since she was truly enjoying this encounter.
At his question, she smiled and nodded. "Yes. I can. I was the healer in my village and for the surrounding tribes whenever they needed help." The sad look came over her face again and she frowned, ears leaning back before she shook herself from head to tail and gave a huff, pushing the sadness away.
"How big is your cat form when you change?" She asked for a quick change of subject, not wanting to dwell on the past right now. Not when she had such charming company with her.
