LOG 1Divena Kira Kei stretched lazily deep down in her caves. Tanis had left some time ago on a solo assignment. An assassination that required subtly. Kira Kei didn't do subtly well, and so she had opted to stay behind. She liked it when things blew out of proportion. The chaos was always interesting. As it was, she was getting bored. Perhaps she should have gone after all... Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen wandered aimlessly, her mind in anguish and torment. She had been through so much these last few months....The pain of it still left marks on her, not physical but ever present. Stumbling, she came out of the trance-like walk she was in. "Oh bother..." She always seemed to be losing her way, she glanced around but saw nothing familiar. Casting a furitive glance at the sky, she saw the storm clouds rolling in. Seeing a cave not far off, she wondered if she should take cover. As if a sign of consent, the heavens open forth and poured their torrents as she wandered into the dark cave. Divena Kira Kei unfurled her wings when she heard someone stumble into her cave. She considered scaring the intruder, or just out and out killing them. However, her boredom won out and she lurked in the shadows, watching the odd creature. She hadn't seen the like before. That alone was enough to ease the boredom a bit. Now to play with her...
"Who goes there?" Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen had made it into the cave as soon as possible, but she was still soaked. Stumbling into the darkness, she tried to let her eyes adjust when she heard a voice and something almost leather-like moving. Her eyes widened with fear as she tried to see into the darkness. She thought about running but she figured that whatever was lurking in the shadows would catch her long before she could get away. Her voice trembling, she spoke. "Ar-arwen." Divena "Ar-arwen?" she mocked lightly. "Well, Ar-arwen, what are you doing in my caves?" Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen was rankled even through her fear. "Arwen. The name is Arwen." Her chest heaved with the intense emotions warring within her. Faint shadows appeared about her immobile but ready-looking daggers. Her voice quaked with fear and the weapons shook as her courage wavered. "I got lost. Who-" She paused to steady her voice and rapid heart beat. "Who are you?" Divena "The name's Kira Kei," she introduced herself, stepping out of the shadows. "Put those things away. You wouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a mountain if it was five inches in front of you like that." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen breathed trying to relax as the pony introduced herself. The daggers faded away. "I'm quite good actually...but I don't practice much." She glanced out the cave at the falling rain. "I"m sorry to have intruded. I didn't know anyone lived here." Divena "Then maybe you should have knocked first," she suggested, wryly. She glanced beyond the Kirin at the water pouring from the sky. Well, that explained why Arwen was there. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen blushed. "My apologies, it was most...inconsiderate." Her cheeks flushed an even deeper crimson. "I didn't even think of knocking since it looked unin-" she quickly changed her wording. "Since there was no door." Looking back over her shoulder for a long moment, she returned her gaze to Kira Kei. "Can I wait out the store with you? Or do you prefer I leave?" Divena "Eh," she waved a hoof dismissively. "You can stay untill I get bored. I'd say I would never toss someone out into a storm but... well... I would." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen sat down on the cave floor after Kira Kei had waved her off. So she was free to stay until the storm was over...or maybe until Kira got hungry. Shaking off that depressing thought, she tried to make conversation. "So you think..I'm interesting?" Ugh... she thought. That sounded so vain.Divena Kira Kei leaned against the stone wall, watching the other pony with an almost predatory gleam in her eye. "Never met anyone that looked like you before. So, yeah... interesting works." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen felt a bit nauseous the way Kira Kei was looking at her. She wasn't able to stop the shudder that shook her body. "Well, I am different. I'm Exalted. There aren't too many of us around anymore." Divena "Anymore?" Kira Kei noticed the way the Exalted shivered and had a faint idea that it had something to do with how she was looking at the other pony. Too bad she wasn't as nice as she was when Tanis was around. "What happened?"

LOG 2Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen had been afraid she'd ask. But she had opened the door to the question. She shrugged her shoulders, "They died...they fled...or maybe they've fallen? Who can say? But one day they were gone. And I...and a few others were lost then saved. It had been so long by then since we had seen others that it's still hard to get use to." Her voice was cool but held the compassion she could never fully eradicate from her voice, "And your people? I do not see much of them anymore..." Divena "What, the dragons?" she rolled her eyes. "Nah, we're all over the place. You just have to keep an eye out for them. 'Course if you come across the wrong one, he might eat you. Hard for us to have kids, so there's not a lot." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen trembled a little. This dragon was just loving to torture her. "I'm glad that you're kind are doing well." She tilted her head to look at Kira Kei, she was beautiful despite the ferocity she displayed. "Do you have any kids?" Her voice was soft, thinking about all the children she had lost track of. They had been a part of those that had disappeared. Divena She blinks, startled. That... she had not been expecting. "Not as of yet. Kids don't really mesh with my life style. You?"
Why did she ask that? She didn't want to get to know this pony. Or rather, she didn't care if she did. But... well, it just seemed like the natural thing to do. Shoot, if this kept up, she'd loose her intimidating air. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen smiled. It seemed that Kira had been taken back with her question. "Yes, several..." Here eyes looked out of the mouth of the cave into the onslaught of rain and stayed focused there. "I lost them all long ago, they...disappeared." Her voice broke for a moment as she brought her eyes back around to Kira Kei. Divena "That's... harsh," she murmurs. She didn't have children of her own, and doubted she'd be a good mother, but she did know that she would have been heart broken if she lost something she cared about. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen wiped at her eyes. "Some days it's worse than others. Especially birthdays. Today is one of those days." Arwen tried to smile, "That's why I get lost so often, I get too lost in thought. But I do stumble upon the most interesting people." Divena "Keep it up and one day you'll meet someone more interested in killing you than chatting with you." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen laughed, "True. I'll have to pay attention more from now on." Arwen looked about the cave in interest. "Do you live here alone?" Divena "Sometimes I live with my partner. She's out at the moment, though." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen nodded her head vaguely. "I'm sorry I must be boring you." She stood up suddenly to watch the rain still falling. Things were becoming a bit awkward. "It doesn't seem to be slowing does it?" Divena "Storms 'round these parts can go on for days," Kira Kei commented, not quite acknowledging whether she was bored or not. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen looked at Kira Kei for a long moment. "You're mate, does she travel often?" She was stalling a bit, interested but nonetheless stalling because she did not want to enter into the rain again. Divena "Whoa! Back up there, Miss Exalted. Who said anything about a mate?" Kira Kei quickly back peddled through their conversation, trying to remember if she'd said any such thing. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen looked taken aback. Her face flushed, "I thought you said you're partner..."She let the sentence trail off. "Sorry, it was wrong of me to assume."

LOG 3Divena "Yeah, my PARTNER," Kira Kei stressed the word. "Like business partner. We work together. I don't have a mate mate." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen jumped back a bit at the ferocity of Kira Kei's annoyance. "I assume too much. I just guessed that since you were so lovely that by partner you meant..." Arwen back-tracked again. She was digging herself into a hole. "Sorry," she sighed half expecting to be eaten soon. It wouldn't be so bad if she liked it rare instead of cooked. Shaking off those morbid thoughts, she looked back to Kira Kei. Divena Kira Kei tossed her head slightly, seemingly preening a bit. "I am lovely, and there have been many offers. But my partner and I aren't like that. Tanis can't be tied down any more than I can." Nyx Queen of Darkness Nodding her head, Arwen agreed. "Some people can't be tied down. It happens." Divena "What about you?" After the words were out, she remembered Arwen mentioning the lost of her people. She could have kicked herself for such an insensitive question, if she was letting herself be sensitive. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen sighed as she closed her eyes. "I have attempted love, but it has failed me. I've had children...And I love them, but I have yet to find someone that I could love and stay with forever." Divena "Love is overrated," Kira Kei decided. At least, that was what she had always believed. Love let you down. It made you put your faith in another person only so that they could hurt you. Nyx Queen of Darkness She nodded slowly, "Sometimes it feels like that, but somewhere out there...there has to be someone that makes this all worth it." Divena Kira Kei thought about it for a moment before nodding a bit. "Yeah, okay. There's probably someone out there for everyone. But that doesn't mean that you have to love them. Could just be a good friend or a partner you can rely on." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen sighed, "Maybe...but I hope you're wrong. I hope for more one day. I have friends, but they don't fill the part of me that's missing." She gazed intently at Kira Kei for a moment, "You don't fell like some part of your life is lacking? Vacant?" Divena She thought about that for a moment, stretching her wings before settling down on a large boulder. Did she feel vacant? Nope. She was completely whole. One hundred percent happy. Most of the time.
"Sometimes," she admitted, surprised she was being so honest with a stranger. "Not often, though. It usually only comes around when I've been alone and idle for too long. Work and Tanis tend to keep me too busy, so I don't think about it much." Nyx Queen of Darkness "That's how it starts," Arwen's voice held sadness in it. "At first being busy keeps you from feeling it. Then even the busyness can't keep it away. And you work and work though your mind is filled with it because if you keep working you can fall asleep. Then if you're lucky...you won't dream." Divena "Is that what you do? Try to avoid dreaming?" Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen nodded. "To avoid dreaming and the past. Some things don't fade with time." Divena "You know, they make medicines for that. Tanis has quite a few teas and things that will let you sleep deeply without dreams."

LOG 4Nyx Queen of Darkness "I'd be interested in trying some. I don't sleep much anymore." Divena "When she comes back around, you can talk to her about it. I'm not much into tonics myself." Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen nodded. "I'll have to do that." She looked out of the cave, the rain might have slacked a little...but if so it wasn't by much. Turning back to Kira Kei, "So what kind of business do you and your partner run?" Divena "We're assassins," Kira Kei answered, without hesitation or remorse. Nyx Queen of Darkness Arwen looked a little taken aback. "Assassins?" Kira Kei had to be kidding...she coudln't be serious. But then again, she didn't seem to be the type to kid much. Divena "Yeah, you know, hired killers?" Kira Kei spoke slowly, as though she suspected Arwen didn't understand what the word meant. Nyx Queen of Darkness Her eyes widened. "I've just never met any before. It's quite alarming." Then with a bit of a scowl, she retorted. "I'm not stupid." Divena "That's a matter of opinion, I'm sure," Kira Kei quipped, almost sweetly. Nyx Queen of Darkness Her eyes flashed, "I don't take insults on my competency kindly. Don't mistake my shock and usual submissiveness as all there is to me. It neither makes me stupid nor weak." She blew out air with a huff. Divena "Given that you haven't exactly displayed anything else, there's not much for me to go on, now is there?" Nyx Queen of Darkness "Do I need to go sulking about bearing fangs and beating my wings, to be of worth? No." She tossed her hair and lifted her chin. "But if it's passion you want, then you'll get it." Divena Kira Kei smirked a bit. The other pony was starting to get interesting again. "Whoever said anything about passion?"

Arwen was a bit uncomfortable with the idea of asserting herself more, but...after all the things she'd lost. Maybe she needed to do that. "I guess I should. I've just never been one to put up a good fight."

"Been there, done that," her voice was a bit bitter. Why couldn't se be like before? Why couldn't she hold onto this anger she felt surging, and use it to fight for what she wanted. "I guess you've never had a problem with that?"
