Sunshine dappled the hare’s soft yellow shoulders as he splashed in the small brook he’d found. His toes, already a darker color than the rest of him, were soaking by now. But the water felt quite nice. Yukai smiled, his long ears relaxed across his shoulders as he dabbled in the sparkling stream. It was a pretty sort of day, warm enough that the cool water felt good, but not so hot as to be uncomfortable. It was just a happy day, and the pale yellow hare was enjoying it very much.
His pink nose twitched, scenting the air for trouble, and his green eyes checked the sky now and again. Just because he was relaxed didn’t mean caution had been thrown to the four winds. Most things would be happy to eat him, a fact he was fully aware of. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t have some fun now and then.
Mzio was so hungry. He hadn't ate for over a day. He was having terrible luck at finding something to eat. He came across a zebra and fail to take it down. Then he cam across an antelope and he failed again. Luckily for him he came across a berry bush earlier today and graze on them for awhile. It didn't really fill him up but it allowed him to be satisfy for he wouldn't pass out at the lack of food.
Oh how he wish he could come across easy prey. Maybe some fish, that would be good, he could just dip his head and catch some fish and be filled up. He smiled just dreaming about the thought. Oh he was so hungry, he could just taste the fish now. Looking about he needed to find a body of water and fast.
What was that?
Yukai froze, his ears rising from where they’d rested to full alertness as the yellow hare listened intently. He’d thought he smelled something, and now he could hear it too. Something big! Which usually meant something bad. In a flash he’d darted under a bush, crouched tense and watchful. He hated to leave off playing, but if didn’t wish to be eaten as a matter of convenience!
Quietly, he watched and waited. Maybe they wouldn’t stay long, and he could go back to what he was doing. Maybe. But it was better safe than sorry. Or dead.
Mzio was so happy! He saw an smelled water! This was great, he could eat and drink all at one time. Smiling he started to run. Finally hitting the water he dove into it catching a fish in his mouth he violently gobble up the fish. He was so happy. He was eating and cooling off. What could be better then this. He lapped up some more water before catching another one.
Smiling he continue to eat happily. He wonder if anyone else was around, if so they were missing a feast, well to him at lest.
Yukai watched as the blue predator moved to the brook he’d been dabbling in, unable to suppress a small chuckle at the way the blue creature just dove right in. Well, wasn’t that something. He felt a bit sorry for the fish, but he didn’t feel the same attachment to them as he did to hares and other warmblooded creatures. Maybe it was unfair of him. But he couldn’t talk to fish…perhaps it came from that?
Cautiously, he took a few steps out of his shelter, moving to nibble at some of the small yellowish flowers that grew nearby. He liked them, they tasted sweet. He kept a wary eye on the hyena though, he was close enough to the bush that he could zip out of sight again. But it did seem to be busy with the fish…
Mzio happily snack on some more of the fish before laying gently in the water. It was amazing that just awhile ago he was thinking about eating some fish and now he had a belly full of them. Oh how time play a great part in life. Yawning, he gently splash some water on his face. The water felt so good to him. It was so hot and the water felt like a giant ice cube. Closing he eyes he wonder if he could get some sleep out here.
Right as he was really ready to sleep he hear something coming from a bush. He jumped up making the water splash all about. He smiled and walked over wondering what he would see. "Hello? is there anyone there?" he said a bit confused.
Yukai was enjoying his flowers, keeping an eye on the hyena but actually starting to relax a bit. The blue hunter was intent on fish, and its presence meant that there probably weren't other predators around that would snack on him right now. Which was a good thing.
Of course, the second he was noticed the hare panicked. He turned to bolt under the bush, as according to plan, but his clumsy paws tripped him up. He still landed under the bush, but with a much larger thud and crash of branches and leaves than he'd intended.
"...ow..." he said tiredly, the wind having got knocked out of him. "You're not still hungry are you?" the hare asked nervously, trying to get his foot unstuck so he could try running again if he had to.
Mzio watched around to see what could be making the noise and saw a a yellow hare zip by him. He wonder why it was in such a rush and then the dawn on him. He was eating and the hare probably thought that he was coming to eat it. Mzio sigh, he didn't mean to scare the poor thing he was just hungry and wanted to know what was over there. Frowning her hear a thud coming from the bush. The poor little hare had felled over. He sigh and looked down at it. "No I'm not going to eat you, but you looked like you could need some help" he said with a smiled.
Gently moving down he release the hare from the dirt path, hoping he would scare the hare once more.
Yukai watched the hyena worriedly as it came closer to where he'd managed to get himself all twisted up in the bush. He squeaked, but not on purpose, when it helped him get unstuck. Giving himself a good shake, he took a quick hop away before turning around and facing the hyena. It felt mean to run away now, even if he was more than a little nervous.
"Uhm...uhm...thank you for getting me unstuck," he managed. He wasn't used to just talking to predators like this, but if the hyena wanted to eat him it wouldn't have helped him get loose. And it had been eating lots of fish...maybe it was full right now? "Uhm...my name's Yukai. It...it's nice to meet you?"
