Kyouko was slowly getting braver and braver as she explored the world outside her mother's den. New scents, new sights, new sounds...She was intrigued by it all, intrigued by everything she hadn't Seen before. And even the things she had...she enjoyed being able to truly see them for the first time. She perked as she found a particularly sweet smelling patch of foliage and giggled, happily flopping into it, purring. Ah...soft and cooshy and so~ nice smelling. It was perfect for her. Perfect for a nap, yes yes. She rolled over onto her back to soak the sun into the fur of her dark blue belly. Mmmm...it was a very, very nice day out.
Duo wasn't fond of having the Khushrenada lion and his mate around. At all. They SEEMED nice enough but...well, they were aristocrats, the girl by default of being with Treize. He did, however, enjoy the look of 'YOU DID WHAT?!' on G's face. Ah...that's what the old man got for not listening to Shini! His sister's visions were pretty damn spot-on when they weren't far in the future. He yawned, looking for a good place to nap, and noticed a nice patch of grass and plants that looked rather inviting an-Why was there a cub in there? Duo blinked, having been just about to settle, and frowned.
"Just who're you kiddo?" He coulda sworn he knew everyone in the pride, at least by sight or name!
Kyouko blinked, looking at Duo with big, dark blue eyes. OH! She'd seen him before! Him and his sister, the twin Gods of Death. She smiled slightly. "My name is Kyouko. And you are?" Of course...she hadn't caught his name. Just his appearance. He was very pretty, like her Mother but yet not. And he had eyes between her own and Riowarr's. Like a gemstone!
Duo raised a brow. "Kyouko huh? I'm Duo, son of Mioyo." He sniffed at the cub. She smelled a little familiar. Kinda like his half-sister Nyx. "Who're your parents? Or are you a stray that was adopted in?" Because there was no way a cub could have snuck in. Even he and Shini hadn't been THAT good as cubs.
Kyouko blinked, then smiled brightly. "Oh! You are my uncle than!" She rolled over onto her belly. "My mother is Nyx. And my father..." She giggled. "I'm not sure I'm supposed to say yet. But he's a great god, with black wings. Like Mother and I have on our backs."
Duo blinked. And blinked again. "What?" Nyx. Had cubs. NYX. His prideful, overbearing, opinionated older half sister had CUBS?! Oh geez. And those markings on Kyouko's back...they couldn't have come from anyone else. His ears went down. "Well...at least this time my niece is younger than me again." Unlike most of his older half-sibling's cubs...almost all of them were all grown by now. "So you have any siblings, Kyouko?"
Kyouko nodded. "I do! Two brothers, twins to each other. Kiyoshi and Riowarr. One dark, the other light." She stood and moved to weave between his front legs, purring. He was family! He was allowed Inside. "And we all See. Past things, future things. I Saw you. And your sister. But I didn't know your names. Only that you are Gods of Death."
Duo smiled slightly. "We are. Or will be. For the place our father is from. The old blue cheetah you've maybe seen around? He's the one who's been teaching me and Shinigami how things work in our father's pride and stuff. My sister is Shinigami. And we See things too. Mind...Shini's are stronger than mine...but we both get 'em."
Kyouko settled herself between his front legs and looked up. "Really? It is nice to have family who understands!" She rubbed her cheek against one of his legs. "Mother is often lost with my brothers and I. Doesn't know quite what to do. But she loves us." She nodded, almost sagely. "Where were you and Auntie Shini, Uncle Duo?"
Duo chuckled and licked the top of Kyouko's head. She wasn't a bad kid. Though her voice was a little quiet. But there was an almost sing-song tone to it. "We were off following one of Shini's visions. Took us FAR away. I'm hoping what we did is for the good." He sighed. "So, kiddo...have you made any friends yet?"
Kyouko blinked. "Friends?" She laid down and rolled over onto her back. "What are 'friends', Uncle Duo? Are they like family?" She had lots of family! Though...not all her family she let Inside. So maybe 'friends' were something different, from how he said the phrase and the word.
Duo raised a brow. How could she not know what friends were?! Oi. He was gonna have to talk to his older sister. "Well...friends are creatures you can trust. Creatures who will keep your secrets and give you help up when life kicks you down. They watch your back, and you watch theirs. Keep each other safe and happy." He grinned. "I got one in Shini."
Kyouko thought a moment, then nodded. A slight smile was on her muzzle again. "Yes. I do have friends. My brothers. We are most certainly friends." She yawned. "I am sleepy. Can we sleep, Uncle Duo?"
Duo nodded and maneuvered so he was curled around his little niece. A god, huh? She was kinda small to have a god for a father. But...considering his family, it wouldn't be too odd. "Sleep well, Kyouko. If you want, I'll be your friend, too, and keep watch over you."
Kyouko stretched a little, then snuggled into the warmth of her uncle. "Mmkay. See you when I wake." She was asleep soon after that, smiling. And asleep, she seemed just another cub.
"Yeah." Duo laid his head down, ears open for any sounds. It was odd, having a niece so much younger than him. Kabichi's had been closer in age to him. But this cub...she was barely weeks old. This...was going to be odd. Very, very odd.
