Titania stepped delicately through the muck of the stream bank as she waded to the center to take a drink. The water was cool and refreshing, and was a welcome reprieve from the afternoon's heat. The bugs and the muck, though . . . well, there was no relief from those, but Titania supposed that she didn't really need any. They were part and parcel of this swampy little woodland glen, and besides, most of the bugs were awfully shiny and pretty. Speaking of shiny bugs, the red gleam of a lone dragonfly caught her eye as it alighted on a decaying old log from a fallen tree. Intrigued, she waded quietly back to the bank for a closer look.

Sryi found himself alone again, traveling through an unknown forest, taking in the sights, sounds, and scents. His hooves traveled a path that others had taken before him, it was worn and showed the hoof marks well. With the condition of this path he could only assume that it would lead him to water, something he could definitely use at this time.
His ears flickered at each little sound, but he only heard the bugs and birds around him. His nose, however, told him that there was another in close proximity so his eyes stayed alert as he walked along.

Water rippled around Titania's ankles as she stepped onto the stream bank to approach the fallen log. The dragonfly, perched atop it, glimmered like a jewel in a beam of sunlight, and Titania leaned in closer and admired it for a moment before it took flight. She watched it fly off with a hint of regret, which quickly vanished as she got a better look at the fallen log itself.
Leaning down and sticking her head inside, she was delighted to see a soft bed of moss inside, and walls decorated with a variety of unusual fungi both inside and out. It was even larger than she had thought, and with the gaping hole in the middle where the wood had decayed, she could easily have fit two of her sitting down inside! Deciding that this was the perfect place for fungi-viewing, she neatly folded her legs under her and settled down to take in the beautiful folds and blooms of said spores.

After a few more paces, he found himself at the source of the water. Just as he was lowering his head to take a drink, a spot of color in the distance caught his eye. It looked like a soquili stuck in a log!
His head tilted with curiousity and he called out to the stranger, "Hello there? Are you stuck?" he lifted his head and paced quickly over towards the soquili in case they were in need of help.

Titania looked up in surprise, wondering what another Soquili was doing way out in the forest. "Stuck? Gracious no, I was just enjoying the lovely view, and this is quite a comfy spot," she replied, amused at the thought of getting stuck in a log. "Very kind of you to ask, though," she winked.
She eyed the stallion with interest, taking in his scales and horn. He must be a Kirin -- how delightful! She had never met one of the scaled relatives of her kind before. "So what brings you all the way out here, cousin? Come to enjoy the fungi too?" she asked curiously. "There's plenty of room!"

His head tilted a bit with a laugh, "Fungi?" it dawned on him what she was talking about, "Oh no, no," he shook his head, "I came for water,"
He took a few paces towards the mare with a smile, "I'm Syri, I'm just traveling through," he looked over the mare, she was a beautiful unicorn with a mane that looked as though she could have been a goddess of this forest. "Do you study alot?"

"Titania," she introduced herself to the noble looking Kirin before her, inclining her head slightly. "And . . . study?" She said the word slowly, as if it were foreign. "Well, I suppose I do, if that's what you'd call what I'm doing now." She let out a light tinkling laugh.
"And what about you, do you travel only for the sake of travel, or do you, as you say, 'study' like I do? Surely sights as beautiful as this," she motioned with her head to indicate the decaying log around her in all its mossy and mushroom-covered glory, "merit some pause . . . unless you are going somewhere important?" She tilted her head to the side inquisitively. She didn't mean to be nosy, but how strange it would be to her to not stop and enjoy the view! But then, what did she know of Kirins?

He paused at her response then looked over to the decaying log, "I... I believe I'll leave the logs for you. I can't say that I agree in their beauty." he didn't mean offense, he just didn't understand what she found so amazing in them.
"I..Well." he had no real destination, "I just wander." his voice suddenly dropped as he thought about his life. He had been travelling for such a long time, never staying in any land for more than a few months. "It's a long story," he sighed.

"Ah, I see." Titania hummed, pondering the less-than-happy tone that had pervaded Syri's speech. Wiggling and shifting a bit on the soft carpet of moss, she brushed her tail across the space beside her, idly pondering if Syri would join her for a spell. "Well, I've plenty of time," she said invitingly.
"And it sounds as though we have something in common then at least --I'm quite the wanderer myself! Naturally," she said lightly, "I do so love stories from interesting Soquili such as yourself. 'Tis one of the perks of being a wanderer, aside from the beauteous scenery," she said knowingly.

Syri smiled at the offer of the pink lady, he carefully made his way over and lowered his body in the area she had motioned for him to rest.
He smiled and bobbed his head lightly, "I do enjoy learning of other cultures and lands. I always try to learn as much as I can while I travel," he looked over to Titania, "Where do you hail from originally?" he asked curiously.

Titania smiled in return, content to have drawn the interesting fellow in for some pleasant conversation. Not everyone could appreciate the beauty of decay and fungi, but perhaps Syri would at least enjoy it as a comfortable resting spot. "Then I shall do my part to teach you of me," she said mischievously. "I make my home on the outskirts of these woods, on the far side near the mountains. Though," she added thoughtfully, "More often than not I am neither here nor there."
"And what of you, Syri the wanderer? Surely, you have not wandered your whole life?" she asked lightly.

"Not my whole life, but the majority of it," his head bobbed as he thought. He had recently met a kirin mare that had opened his eyes about his life. He had been searching for himself, but in reality, he had found it.
"I've spent my life since a young adult, following the wind." he laughed knowing that it would sound silly to some. "No real destination... No boundries..."
He turned to look back at the log and the covering, "So you enjoy plants, eh?"

Titania leaned a little closer, intrigued. "That sounds marvelous," she commented. "I suppose we are much alike in regards to our wandering, then!"
Tilting her head to the side as if to ponder something curious, she added, "And you are quite right, I do so love plants, from the beautiful flowers to the straggly moss, and all of their kin!" she said laughingly, aware that her love of the myriad of forest growth was somewhat unusual. "I suppose we differ there, though?" she queried, not really seeing a practical difference between the passion flowers in her hair and the mushroom blooms around them.

"No, not too much," he shook his head taking a closer look at the moss and fungi that the mare had been studying. "I've never taken the time to really sit and enjoy the creation,"
He looked back over to the mare, "Tell me about it?" he inquired. He always enjoyed learning things that he did not know. It fascinated him to learn.

"Ah, well no wonder!" Titania tisked, marveling how one could see the forest and miss the trees, or rather fungus, as it were.
"I suppose I could tell you about how fungi help break down fallen vegetation, or how they can be quite tasty food for not only bugs but also for us Soquili. Or I could tell you of their amazing growth cycle by which they pop up overnight as if by magic, and form the most unusual symmetrical patterns. But," Her eyes sparkled with gaiety, "you know what they say about showing versus telling."
She carefully extracted herself from the log, and cast a critical eye on the mushrooms growing atop it concealed by some brush. Plucking one delicately with her mouth, she lowered herself back down in front of Syri and dropped it in front of him in offering. It was an attractive shade of gold, with an elaborate, elongated lace cap, and just so happened to be one of her favorite snacks. "And perhaps a snack, before?"
