Perhaps I'm not the best source of news, but hey, I figure between all the members here, whenever there's news about a relevant manga or anime (be it Lucky Star or some other slice-of-life or high school series), somebody can post it here.
So anyway. I just put in a broken-up order to Barnes & Noble.
* The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya: the complete collection (DVD), which should be arriving in a few days * Lucky Star vol. 6 (manga), which should be shipping in September * Lucky Star vol. 7 (manga), which should be shipping in December * Yotsuba&! vol. 9 (manga), which should also be shipping in December
So if you didn't know they were available, you know now. (And if you already knew, maybe you can be the one to tell us things like this next time. wink )

Sweet!! I am mostly reading manga on Mangafox at the moment since I spent so much money on Japanese lessons and materials/books and computer software lol. I am literally eating そば for dinner all too often now =P

I preordered vol. 8 last night. It's set to ship in March.
(Volume 6 has been delayed. I hope it ships soon, but the supposed date for the end of the 30-day extension has passed with no news.)

I just got volume 6 today.
It seems that nothing happens in it that was in the anime. The main characters progress from high school classes to college entrance exams. Background characters get a lot more focus.

Volume 7 shipped, so I should be receiving it pretty soon.

I've preordered Lucky Star vol. 8 and Sunshine Sketch vol. 5. I hope it doesn't get canceled...
Erm, my order, I mean. No idea how the mess over there is affecting unfinished and unpublished volumes...
(Not to put that in importance above people's lives or anything. The status of manga & anime is pretty small in the scheme of things; I'm just curious, is all.)

Sunshine Sketch vol. 5 arrived! Lucky Star vol. 8 has been delayed, though, possibly for a month. In the meantime, though, Hidamari Sketch x Hoshi Mittsu and K-On! vol. 2 are expected to ship in less than a couple of weeks. Here's hoping!

...And Hidamari Sketch x Hoshi Mittsu has been delayed. It's not yet to where I have to either tell them "yes, I want the item; please keep checking" or "no, I'd rather have the money back on my gift card(s)", but it's still a bit of a delay. K-On! vol. 2 is on its way, though; today was the first day it could have been expected to arrive, but it didn't. Keepin' an eye on the mailbox!

Hoshimittsu is here as of yesterday, which makes me wonder about K-On! 2.
Anyway, Hoshimittsu is, as expected, enjoyable. Unusually for this series, the events of Sae and Hiro's third year are told in chronological order, unlike previous seasons that were really jumbled together. But mixed with this are events from previous years, including the first meeting of Natsume and Sae, and an episode that shows Sae and Hiro when their senpais were still around!
I hope there's at least one more season...

And K-On 2 has arrived!
In this volume: * Yamanaka-sensei makes amazing leaps! * The group sings "Fuwa Fuwa Time" and "My Love Is A Stapler" in their entirety! * Azusa!

...And Lucky Star vol. 8 still hasn't been sent, and I've received no updates. And the image on the Barnes & Noble site is still that of the cover of vol. 6.
In hopefully happier news, however, K-On! vol. 3 (manga) is out, and the anime vol. 3 is available for preorder and expected to ship next week. Also available for preorder is Yotsuba&! vol. 10. I intend to order all three once I buy a gift card.

I've ordered the new items from my last post, and discovered that the 4th volume of the K-ON! manga is also available for preorder, so I did that. It's expected to ship in December.
K-ON! vol. 3 -- not sure which medium -- is on its way to me.

And the other K-ON! vol. 3 -- the anime, I'm pretty sure -- has been delayed due to a change in the release date. To what, you may ask? Well, when I looked, it displayed as though it were something you could order now. So... I don't know.

The manga arrived a couple of days ago, so I've been enjoying that.
In this volume: * The girls make their first shrine visit * Tsumugi has a plan to whittle away some of Mio's shyness * Mio has a stalker * Azusa and Ui make Valentine's Day sweets * The girls clean the room and find an interesting relic * Senior class assignments -- a shuffle of convenience; also, the future of the club once 80% of its current members graduate, and the welcoming ceremony concert * Yui( and Ritsu)'s future plans * Senior trip * The rainy season and its effect on guitars (and guitarists) * Beating the heat in the music room * Ritsu hangs out with... Tsumugi? * Club trip... to a concert this time! * Azusa, Ui, and Jun at the pool * The story of Mio and Ritsu's friendship * Bonus 1: Before Tsumugi's special training for Mio * Bonus 2: Continuation of the Tsumugi's eyebrows saga
I got an e-mail asking if I want to extend the order of the anime. (That is, it's been a few days after it was expected to ship, so they're seeing if I still want it.) I went to the site and told them I do. We'll see what that does.
Lucky Star 8, where are you?
