Probably old news but whatever. Let's bring it back. Spidey Back in Black?

Gotta say it would be a cheap shot. Thanks to a fellow guild member I believe we are know that we have a ton of real Black super heroes and this is just a cheap shot. (Much like Hancock) There's no real reason to mess with this character racial background to fix the racial quota. Instead, Marvel can find some to produce, direct, and star as The Black Panther, a stand alone Storm, Static Shock, or the Black Green Lantern.

This is probably going to sound closed-minded but just like I can't believe some white kid becoming a Kung-Fu, Washu, or judo master in a matter of weeks; I also can't believe some Black guy in Queens as our favorite nerdy Super hero. It messy with the whole persona really.

Plus, will MJ still be a fair skinned red haired girl or a Black chick with red braids. (No matter how far we think we come if it's an interracial deal this movie will get the "treatment") As personally, I don't want to see Save the Last Dance meets Spider-man nor do I want to see one my favorite Super-Heroes easing down the road. (Or I suppose in his case swinging down the road.) rolleyes

Seriously, let him stand a dorky white kid from NYC. Nothing wrong with that. He doesn't need to get a skin change. (Nor did Nick but that's besides the point now) Hollywood needs to stop being lazy and just give us a real superhero.

If the Wanye's bros and Mr. Townsend could do it? Can't Marvel?

((Uber nerd mode ))

blaugh Marvel producing black super hero movies. And a black panther movie. Not after the Blade 2 and 3 and the Halle berry complaining about Storm Fiasco their not.

First they have too much on their agenda. With trying to produce every Avenger member origin story movie and then making a whole avenger movie. Then with the other 40 billion reboots they have to do. It's going to be a long while before we get the perfect black hero movie.

What paramount did with Hancock is just an experiment they wanted to cash in on. And dont even count on DC. DC cant even get superman right. Their still working on their poster boy Batman that they cant even do the wonder woman movie.

But I say why not hire Donald Glover. Marvel and Dc does that constantly in their stories. They make alternate versions of famous super heroes. Super man has five black alternate versions of himself and two is in the same world he's in and one of them is a woman. Spider man has a Puerto Rican and Mexican mixed girl as well as a native american man alternate spider man in his world. So why not? Some of the alternates are more popular then their originals. That's why certain comic book fans aren't really riled about it and find it cool. I mean they were thinking about robert patterson. Between Donald Glover and Robert Patterson. I'll go with Donald Glover since he already acts like peter in community service. Of course MJ might still be her olive skin red head self. And I'd like to think that a white red head would be the one to sell their love to the devil. (Oh god that story pissed me off.)

But I'm positive it's just fan fun talk. I wouldn't take that story seriously.

Besides we're probably going to have a black man playing kratos in the god of war live action movie. whee Yayz.

You were right. Some English lad is going to be Spidey. Crisis over. New crisis over GOW movie. That's probably going to suck. Oh well. I gave up on Hollywood a long time ago.

If that's going to be the case. I vote Jay-z for Kratos. xd

Aww why not. I think Jay-z would be good. Make him work out for a few months. Teach him some fight moves. put some paint on him. You got Kratos.

I must spread this rumor on the internet and hope the holly wood big head will take it seriously and cast him. I know I will probably get trolled. But it must be done.

Jay-Z is lacking the voice that Kyle Barker, aka Terrence Carson has made famous for the character. 3nodding

And actually, nothing about Jay-Z says "action star" to me. xd

true he may not have the voice now. And you may not see the action it factor. But that's where the surprise would be.

You'd be surprised at what alot of these actors can do when they're taken out of their element. (When they are not type casted over and over again)

proof:
heath ledger
johnny depp

A lot of them stopped getting casted as the pretty boy love interest and went way out of their element and they are amazing at it.

I understand some actors cant get out of their element. But alot of actors need to step out their element and I think with a lot of help jay-z can do it.

But would the creative team go after someone who needs so much work?

I think another problem I have with Jay z playing the part is I am personally exhausted by the number of rappers who get roles in movies instead of lesser-known black actors who are trying to make it in the biz (this is kind of unrelated to God of War). For every role played by Common and TI and Xzibit and Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube and 50 Cent and Ludacris -- I am sure there were at least a dozen more deserving black male actors who could have played the part, and been 10 times better at it.

There are, of course, a handful of rappers-turned-actors who actually did decent work, most notably Will Smith. Ludacris also isn't too bad now that his popularity isn't based solely upon his being popular in the rap game.

What's the point of putting an occupational actor in if the movies aren't all that good or the roles aren't all that important anyway?

And who sells a movie better? Common/Ice Cube/T.I. or "black guy you may or may not've heard of?"

I mean Idris Elba is cool but I'm going to see Takers to see how well T.I. and Chris Breezy perform in it.

That's the point! These "occupational actors" need better parts written for them. I see a lot of comic relief roles, and "he's gonna be dead in the first half hour" roles. It's so annoying to me. rolleyes

May Tyler Perry save you from the mental anguish you are suffering due to this.

I dont agree that rappers sell more than the "up and coming actor" black or white. Because British and Australian actors like Sam Worthington with avatar and clash of the titans. Who was a nobody, out selled Halle berrie and any Denzel movie.

I agree though that it is quite annoying that a rapper does take a role that a up and coming black actor can do better. But again like mr crawley said I'd rather place the rapper in the horrible role. Then waste incredible talents like Denzel washington or any excellent up and coming black actor. Who cant probably save a movie by themselves.

I agree roles just need to be written better. But again when something is considered "written better". It's a seller like a tyler perry jesus movie or a movie like takers and lottery ticket. It happens a lot in comic books and video games also. They'll make a black character to help. And because audiences consider them token characters no matter how intellectual that character is. It's always complained about. Especially on their looks. So it's until the set audience starts asking for different writing. It's always going to be those horrible roles.

And thats why I think a horrible actor in a billion budget role would be funny and yet an eye opener.

Mr. Perry, although many of his movies do have great parts for great actors (including himself), is also guilty of falling into the same old "black movie formulas."

I'm waiting for the next great thing. biggrin

I do like "mixed" movies, where the non-white characters are not simply "tokens," but are truly part of the plot and storyline. 3nodding

EDIT: You quote's awesome, by the way. 3nodding

'S not an eye-opener if people don't realize it. xd

Also, you say "written better" as if that actually applies to Lottery Ticket. rofl

Just because a movie pulls in a lot of dough, that doesn't mean the writing is good; look at Transformers. xp
