 Vampire. A lot of things come to mind when one hears that word now a days. Bloodsucker. Demon. Edward Cullen. Bats, fangs, and gallons of blood. Bodies drained of all blood with only two punctrue wounds to the neck. It's different Here.Welcome to Tanick Island home of the vampires. In 2028 the waters of the Pacific Ocean receeded to reveal an under water island that was 109 miles long and 50 miles wide. Located at the Equator or 0 degrees longitude and 120 degrees lattitude. The United States quickly claimed the island and started turning it into a habital place. On July 6, 3000 a new type of snake was discovered in the Amazon Rain Forest. It was called the Eternal Emeral Emperor viper and was about two feet long. It had a curious venom. It killed it's prey which consisted of small rodents, lizards, frogs, birds, and some insects, but when it bit one of the researchers they didn't die. Instead he went through a change. He became a vampire.Of course this didn't happen overnight. It took five years for the change to be complete. The rest of the researchers took specimens back to the states. There three others were bit and and experiment was begun. Over the next five years these people became vampires. They were incredibley strong, fast, and agile. They were also beautiful in a way. The only major difference was that when the change was complete they all had white hair, dark gray skin, gold eyes, and pointed ears. Like this. One of the four died during the change. During the autopsy to discover the reason for his death it was discovered that his body had rejected the change. The three remaining test subjects were put on the island that that the U.S. had claimed. The vampires called it Tanick Island. Fifteen more joined them and they steadily grew. Now, in 3019, the village the first three had created contains 54 inhabitants. A few of the vipers that create vampirism live on the island. In each year of the change one or two things happen. Year one the eyes and ears change. Year two the skin changes. Year three the hair changes. Year four the fangs and bloodlust develop. Year five the mucsles develop. Through out the whole change the young vampires are taught control by their mentors.
Nef is a young vampire in his second year of he change. His eyes haven't changed to gold yet and remain their deep green. He and his mentor Z live together like every mentor and fledgling does. Nef thinks of Z as a father figure, but Z thinks of Nef as more than a son. While vampires believe in family love they do not believe in the love humans share with their mates. So what happens when the mentor loves the fledgling, but must hide it? What happens when the mentor begins to show his affections after a year together?

My Joys: listening to nature, changing, being healthy, living, the island, swimming, traveling.

My Past: When I was human, my parents volenteered me for to become a vampire. They didn't let it show and pretended other wise, but they found having me around wearysome. Thus when a government official came with one of the vipers, my parents volenteered me and I was bite. I was then taken to Shore Village on Tanick Island. I met my mentor and have been living with him. We are entering the second year of my change and our second year together.
Every thing else is mentioned above or will be revealed in the story.

I was then adopted by the Goverment and nominated to undergo the changing into a vampire, and placed on the island. Nef
Nef yawned as he woke up to the sounds of birds chirping. No one else was up yet. Most of the villagers didn't like being up during the day and though the light hurt his eyes Nef loved it. So he woke up every morning. He smiled and laid in bed for a moment longer before he rolled out of bed and made his bed. He opened his black out curtains and blinked as the bright sun light spilled into his room. He smiled at the sight of the light mottled tree houses.
He whistled softly and a bright green viper about five inches long appeared. "Morning Greene," he said softly as he picked the snake up and brought it into his room. He went to his dresser were he kept a small tank. He put Greene inside it and added a few crickets for him to eat before he went to the bathroom to get ready.
The viper was his pet in a way. Some of the snakes took a likeing to certain young fledglings and vampires. There was a rumor going around among the fledglings that if you took care of a viper you would make it through the change. So when Nef found one in his bed one day he had happily started taking care of it. Not only did he want to make it through the change, but he also had always wanted a pet. So when the snake chose him he had happily accepted.
Once he had gone through his morning routine he checked on Greene who was chilling out in his tank. Smiling he went to his master's room to wake him up. He had been waking the man up for the past year. He opened his master's curtains first and let the bright light in. That done he shook his master's shoulder.
"Master Edrial. Master Edrial, it's time to wake up," he told his master. He hoped the man would be easy to wake up this morning. He never knew what his master might do before he opened his eyes.

Edrial  Edrial groaned softly as the shafts of light speared their way into his bedroom, coating him in a warm, bright sunny glow that at this point, was unwanted. Edrial loved his sleep, but his little fledgling seemed to think otherwise....To his annoyance. He woke him every morning, sometimes just as the sun came up over the blue horizon just so they could, ' start a fresh new day.' Why couldn't they just begin later? His muscles tensed at the contact of Nef's hands upon his shoulder, shoving his head under the pillow as he rolled onto his side facing the fledgling. He found he was unable to beat the light in his fight for more sleep, an eye peeking it's way from under the pillow as he grabbed Nef by the tip of his ear, dragging him down to eye level. " At what hour did you bother me this time?.." He asked in a groggy tone, releasing the boy's ear as he sat up. He stretched his muscles as he yawned, the usual thing as his bones popped and situated themselves in the right place. He then shuffled his way to the end of the bed, staring at the cold wooden floor, " What's on the agenda today?" He asked, feeling a bit more awake and hospitable as he got up to begin his routine of a shower, dressing himself and getting a breakfast.

Nef smiled at his master's usual grumpiness though he winced when his ear was pulled. "Morning Master. Ahhh. I think it's about 9:15 in the morning," he said. He was glad when the man finally let go of his ear. As his master got ready Nef made his bed. Then he joined him in the kitchen.
"Well I was hoping we could skip lessons and just go swimming," he said hopefully. He loved swimming and though he liked learning about being a vampire sometimes it felt like school. In a place of basically perpetual summer, it sucked to be in school.

Edrial Edrial was rummaging through the fridge when Nef entered the kitchen, grabbing some eggs, butter and toast for his breakfast. As well as his normal cup of blood instead of human coffee..Yuck. He cracked some eggs into a pan as the other spoke, " Mm, How long has it been since I've let you go swimming instead?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at the other. As he recalled, he'd only let him go swimming just last week. He didn't mind giving the boy a break every once in a while, but there had to be lines...No matter how much he cared. He finished cooking his breakfast and dished it up on a plate, flopping down in a chair as he munched his toast happily.

Nef sighed as he went about making his own breakfast. "It's been a week," he sighed dejected. He got bacon, eggs, and cheese and made himself an omlette. Rooting around the fridge he found some milk and poured himself a glass. Then he sat at the table across from his master.
He started to eat. "If we're not going swimming what are we going to do and no I'm not letting you go back to bed. I'm bored," he said. Since he was only in his second year of hte change all he could really do was practice how to look and listen. He was really hoping today's lesson would be something that didn't involve sitting on a rock all day.

Edrial Edrial smirked at him, " Thought so." He took a drink from his glass, humming happily before frowning at the other's Denial to just let him sleep, " Why can't you be like a normal teenager?..Sleep in until like noon.." He daydreamed, oh how he missed those days. 'Course, he couldn't say the lonely life was better. It was always better to have company..Specially if that company was very cute. But he wasn't supposed to be thinking that, switching gears as he thought about what he was going to put dear little Nef through today... " Well, I could teach you something more useful then sitting around...Since you've done that for a year almost. How about Archery? If you ever get bored of grocery store blood you can get some fresh that way." He offered, smiling as he polished off his breakfast, going over to the sink and washing his dirty dishes.

It was Nef's turn to smirk. He loved to wake his master up because not only was the man supposed to teach him, but he was convinced the man was going to get fat just lying around sleeping all day. He snickered as he imagined Edrial 200 pounds heavier. He quickly took a drink of milk to hide his smile. He put the cup down when it was empty and he felt confident he wasn't going to burst out laughing. It wasn't that he mocked those that were over weight it was just if you saw what Nef imagined Edrial would look like you'd laugh too. Basically he was concerned for his master and wanted to keep him healthy.
He grinned at Edril when he heard the man would teach him Archery. Quickly he scarfed down the rest of his breakfast. It was a miricale he didn't choke. Then he went to do his own dishes. "That sounds great. Oh and I don't sleep in because I get bored and it's fun to wake you up," he said smiling as he finished. He put his dishes away and smiled at Edril.
"Let's go!!"he said exitedly.

Edrial Edrial raised an eyebrow at how quickly he scarfed down his breakfast. Even his milk too! That had to be unhealthy...If not make his stomach upset. He still was partially human, after all. Either way he places his dishes in the cupboard, looking at the other with a despondent expression, " How can you get bored, sleeping!? You're not awake you can't realizee itt." He argued, sighing as he rubbed a hand over his face, patting the boy on the head lovingly, " Alright Alright, chill out." He chuckled a little, retrieving his bow and arrow out of his room as he made his way outside. It was a cool and crisp morning in the forest of the island, most of the vampires, especially older ones who were not mentors, were still asleep in their houses carved into the trees. The only vampires awake at this hour were mentors and their fledglings, and maybe younger lot of vampires. Edrial made his way to the outskirts of the village, to the archery range where Trunks carved into various shapes of animals found on the island stood. He picked the closest target for Nef to practice on, " Here, this should do.." He mumbled, handing the boy the bow as he began to instruct, " Now, pick the arm opposite of your strong eye to hold the bow with..the other will be your drawing hand.." He began, continuing by instructing how to properly hold the bow and how to load and fire.

Nef ran outside as he waited for his master to grab his bow. While he was out there a sudden thought struck him. What did humans call teachers? Sensei? He'd call Edril sensei since he was his teacher.
Finally!! They were standing at the target range and Edrial was teaching him how to shoot. It took him a while, but he finally got the form right and was holding the bow properly. He even had an arrow ready to go. He looked up at Edrial.
"Okay Sensei, which part of the target do I shoot at?" he asked. He should have had novice stamped across his forehead. He had no idea what to do. He was excited though and was grinning widely. He looked back at the target.
"Neh Sensei, what Do you dream about?" he asked.

Edrial He raised an eyebrow when Edrial caught the odd, unused word out of the boy's sentence, " Sensei?..." He mumbled to himself questionably, rolling it over in his mind a little before shrugging. Either name worked he supposed. He just about face palmed when the boy asked where he was supposed to be shooting, " Dear, dear Nef. Even making the target is an accomplishment at this point. Just shoot for that." He replied with a light laugh, clasping his hands behind his back when Nef's question caught him a bit off-guard... What he dreamed about? Well, it's not like he could say the truth...He dreamed about the other, and that was slightly forbidden in these lands. Because that meant he had some sort of feelings for him...Maybe more then his Father and Teacher role would allow. " Stuff." He settled on a simple, mysterious word. It at least kept the other in the dark for now. He walked over to the boy's side that he held the arrow with, gently adjusting the angle of his arm with his finger, " Why would you ask?.." He inquired, raising an eyebrow at the boy as he waited for him to shoot.
