Get him help, if he won't get himself any. Urge him to talk to a counsellor or therapist, someone who can listen and help him with his problems. If it's really bad, talk to his parents, and/or call a hospital for him. Cutting is serious behavior, especially if he's not stopping or it's uncontrollable, and could progress into something wrose.

This is a time that you may have to go against his wishes and get him help. I'm guessing he hasn't told his parents. If you want to keep him from finding out you told on him, tip his parents off and tell them to look at where he's been cutting and casually ask about it. You may have to go to a counslor at your school and have him called in the office to see about it.
I've you've asked him to stop and have shown your concern, I'm sure he'll later understand that you're helping him.

Ask him how he's feeling. Self harm is often caused by people bottling up their feelings so try to get then to talk about them because there might be less of a chance of him dealing with them through self harm.

You can't get them to stop by saying stop. This is their decision. A while a go I was asking that of my friend, and she just would not stop. This is their decision, all you can do is support them, and try to get them help.
