Her paw pads left little tracks each time she stepped forward. Her father was currently not present and her grandmother was sleeping. She knew that rest for good for the elderly, so she let her be. She wandered away from her family, leaving her brothers behind her to make her was further into the Agua Azul Territory.

With her nose to the ground, tail up and pouncing with each eager step towards exploration she didn't really pay much attention to where she was going or how far out she was wandering. She trotted up a small incline and hopped down on the other side, making her way to a warm sunny spot she plopped down to rest, licking her orange tipped paws to soothe the ache of the travel. Stormkeeper rarely ventured off alone and was not used to such an excursion.

She shook out her green fur and stretched so the blue stripes on her back curved briefly with her form before tucking her paws beneath her dainty puppy form. She looked around curiously, ears perked forward and eyes wide as she wondered, finally for the first time that day, "Oh boy... Where am I?"

User Image Novacaine was turning out to be quite the little adventurer. He was emboldened, perhaps, by his growing suspicion that most everyone in his pack was related to him in some way, and that those who weren't his family were still, in some way or another, his kin. As far as Novacaine was concerned, the whole world was made up of wolves that fit into a giant family, all of them equal, all of them loving, and he was intent now to meet every member of this massive theoretical extended family.

That, and he had the unfortunate tendency to wander away. It was easy enough whenever his father was absent, as his mother never seemed to quite understand her children, and when Nova would find something or another to attract his attention, he could spend hours staring at it without realizing the time had traveled or that he had wandered so far.

Today, he had wandered from his family in pursuit of a lizard. It wasn't just any lizard, though; it was a particularly fascinating specimen because it had a rather bright blue head, and Novacaine had never seen a blue-headed lizard before in his life. Relatively certain that he had discovered something amazing, the pup had relentlessly stalked the reptile for hours now, with no intent of killing it -- simply to observe it, and attempt to comprehend its unrelenting blue-headedness.

When intrigued by something, Novacaine had the capacity to stare at it all day, and this was certainly one of those moments.

Just now, the fluorescent pink pup was crouched down atop a fallen log, staring down with rapt green eyes at the lizard, which was currently soaking up some sun on a large rock. Aside from the lizard, everything here seemed quiet enough -- but then again, Novacaine would hardly have noticed if it wasn't.

Out of the corner of her eye storm saw something and she paused in her curious ramblings as to where she was. The flicker to her, had appeared to be bright...pink? She could no longer see it, but what she did see intrigued her. She saw a little yellow/green bodied lizard with a vibrantly blue head. She got curious and so, rolling over so she was facing the rock it sunned upon she crept closer on her belly and slowly lifted her head to look at the creature.

"Whoa... Blue head you've got there little buddy..." she lifted herself a little higher than saw pink again. It was something about her size and it was on the other side of a fallen log next to the rock. She crouched back down out of sight and started creeping towards it, then, in a flurry of movement she pounced on the pink body with a half ferocious puppy bark. "Who are y--" she paused when she realized it was just another puppy like herself, but this one was a boy. "Oh!" she said, tumbling back, the skin beneath her cheek fur growing warm. "Sorry... thought maybe you were a bob cat or something." she explained sheepishly.

"I...I'm stormkeeper."

Novacaine's bright eyes caught sight of her, his white-tipped ears perking excitedly at her words; so she was admiring the blue-headed lizard too! That made him smile -- although Novacaine's smile was generally very muted and not so much different from his regular expression -- and he peeked over the log, about to say something of the sort, when he felt himself bowled over by a certain blue-green something.

He let out a yelp, pawing at her, landing on his back and blinked up at her from those unnervingly bright green eyes. "Hi," he said, and said nothing further for a long moment, staring up at her without making any move to get out from under her -- as though, perhaps, he had forgotten that he was pinned. After a longer-than-comfortable pause, he added, "I'm Novacaine." Then, feeling particularly talkative, "...Did you see that lizard? Its head is blue."

She was startled by how bright his eyes were. She stared back at them through bright silver eyes and then she blinked. "Hi." There was that long pause and she realized she was still on top of him. "Ah! Sorry!!" she got off of him and sat beside him and when he introduced himself she nodded, and then when he asked her about the lizard her tail started to wag a little bit. She nodded. "Yeah, I did actually. Really strange, the little guy... never seen a blue headed lizard before, have you?" she moved to the edge of the log and saw that it was still there. The lizard turned it's head and looked at them through one eye and it make a croaking little hissing sound. "Cheeky little fellow aren't you?" she murmured.

"Nope, not ever," he agreed, rolling over to his green-marked paws, and making his way back to the log, peering over it thoughtfully. he was pleased that the lizard was still there -- almost as pleased as he was that his new friend was just as interested in the lizard as he was. It was hard, sometimes, being fascinated by things, as his enthusiasm wasn't always shared. Besides, what good was a lizard to his siblings, when some of them saw truly amazing things that Novacaine couldn't ever see for himself?

He glanced at her, reluctantly tearing his eyes from the hissing reptile. "You're kinda bright, like me," he said, admiring her fur. "...Are we related?"

She looked at the little critter a while longer and then looked at him again. "I don't think I'm related to you... I don't know for sure though... my siblings and I have storm names, my Grandmother's name is Mania..." she paused and then said, "Then again, I guess we might be, because we could have an ancestor in common!" she reasoned brightly. "You're really bright... I like it, your colors make me feel really awake and happy." she said, leaning into him playfully with a friendly nudge.

"Mania..." the name sounded like the sort of thing that could be in his family, although if asked he couldn't quite say why. It just seemed right. He'd have to ask daddy when he got home. He'd ask mother, but, well....daddy would be best, he thought. "You too," he said, and looked her over appraisingly.

"Is your family crazy, too?" he asked, quite conversationally; it didn't bother him in the slightest that members of his family were a bit...unconventional...and he was suddenly intensely curious about this other bright-colored pup. There didn't tend to be many pups about in Agua Azul, so far as he could see, and anytime he got a chance to meet a new potential friend he was very excited at the prospect.

Well, as excited as Novacaine got, anyway.

"Crazy? Well...there's a lot of wolves that say my grandmother is... and they say that her...um...dementia...is genetic.." she responded, averting her bright silver gaze to look at the ground uneasily.

"My mother hears voices that nobody else can," he said, by way of explanation, "And two of my sisters, they see things that nobody else can see." His brow furrowed, ears thoughtfully folded back to his skull, and he glanced between her and the lizard, and smiled. Surely, with all the things Dere had seen, she hadn't seen something quite like that he thought smugly. He looked back up at his new friend, as though he was going to say something, but said nothing, only fixed her with those odd green eyes, a gaze of rapt attention that many would find very unnerving.

What most would find unnerving she found kinda cute, odd as the little pup was, she kinda liked him. "I've heard of seers and shamans that see what only the eyes of the spirit should see, and hear what only the ears of the dead should hear. Maybe they're actually gifted?" then she paused. "My grandmother holds conversations with herself... forgets names, forgets who we are sometimes... I think occasionally she forgets how to talk... I dunno, maybe we're all crazy in some manner and we just distinguish sanity differently to make ourselves feel better." she prompted, tail waving a bit behind her. She licked his cheek. "I think you're very nice." she said, beaming. "I am glad I saw the Lizard too, or else I might not have met you!"

He nodded. "I'd like to be crazy, too, if that's what they are," he said, unembarrassed by the proclamation. His nose wrinkled when she licked his cheek, but his tail wagged behind him, stirring up the grass. He glanced down at the lizard, and looked thoughtful. "Want to see what else we can find? Maybe these woods are full of other weird stuff..." Weirder even than what his sisters hallucinated? He could always hope so...

"I saw something incredibly strange a few nights ago... it looked like a monkey, but it had the eyes of an owl and fingers hard and pointed like a bird's. It was eating insects." she said with a confiding smile. She didn't mind that he wanted to be crazy. Sometimes she thought to herself that being like her grandmother would be a terrible thing, but she wouldn't mind it much if she had a child kind as her daddy. "Let's venture out to see what else there is to see." she said, in answer to his inquiry.

"Really?" He asked, eyes wide; he wondered what in the world that could possibly have been, as the description sounded far too strange for him to even comprehend. And he wasn't even quite sure what a monkey looked like. "Where was it? Think it's still there?" His tail wagged, very suddenly intrigued. Novacaine, clearly, was growing up to be something of a biologist.

A grin found the female's maw. "I can lead you to where it lives, the tree, at least." she lead him away and soon they were standing face to face with an Odd little Creature. The small creature announced he was a Tarsier and then fled in fear, leaving the female laughing at the huge eyes on the body that was the size of her paw. "Wow... funny little things, right Nova?"
