Evan wondered through the ghostly forest, a light layer of fog layered the ground, dancing around his feet as he wondered, his own dark smoke like features following on the strands of moonlight. It was not rare for him to be out paroling late at night, a silent figure that people often saw as a lost spirit. One that not many dared to approach because of the sinister aura his apprentice seemed to capture. As he wondered a dark figure soon came into sight of his glowing blue eyes, the wolf like frame soon becoming obvious to him, he halted and bent one of his knees. Kneeling down to his alpha.
Lea had finished up observing her little darlings, they were separate and out of the way. Her daughter had run off with that other wolf for the night, knowing what was going on there made her grumble slightly. She had ditched their pack for mutt, something she wasn't pleased about and now she had no heir. Nori was great for security reasons and warning away intruders but he would mingle with her secret rendezvous and would jeopardize her intentions regarding his father Zoomba. Love, ha!She had a breeding vessel, a toy but she had to pretend otherwise and now she had a younger associate to deal her needs with. As the ivory stud revealed himself from the shadows and bowed before her the power fled to her face in a devious smirk. She walked forwards and small pleasurable growl hummed through her throat, arching her neck to his ear before nibbling it. "Good boy." She whispered and raised her head once more, circling. "Stand." She commanded.
Evan had long before grown used to being treated like a dog. He would push his luck with Nori because of their long friendship however he always knew that Lea was top dog. Since he was a foal he had always obeyed and in the long run made his life in the pack more manageable. He was a outside blood line. He needed to show the higher ranking members he deserved to be here. Even though life here was strict it had been his life for too long to remember anything else. He liked it here. The rules, the structure, the hunt. All things that he lived for. However he had ambition, when time was right he was to begin his rise through the ranks. Keeping Lea sweet was something he knew would come in handy later. He stood as she asked, remaining silent. He was never one to speak without been spoken to.
"Very good." She had always loved how obedient and loyal Evan was, she could do anything she wanted and he wouldn't make a peep Her pack was built of undeniable robots, she had manage to contain her army and it was soon to grow bigger. This pack that Nori had help her form would soon become as stronger, more powerful and overwhelming than anything this land has ever witnessed. That was her goal, to show that her kind was not something to messed with like they had been wiped out like they were no better than flies in her childhood. never again she had promised. "I have been watching you." She stated. "I know you are calculating something to your advantage. I'm not oblivious to the situation... I think your ready to be more than just a member but remember you will never be more than my toy." She grinned, chuckling evily. "Now come and tell me what your intentions in this pack are to be. Or will you forever be a fool and Nori's underling?" She mocked.
Evan looked at her, a little took back that she knew what he was up to. He was never to give anything away. So he was not going to let her on that he was surprised. She was a cunning wolf after all. He should never underestimate Lea. "Are you proposing something?" he asked in a monotone like voice raising a eyebrow. He never counted himself as Nori's underling, they had known each other since they were foals. They were rivals to the end, respected ones at that. However Nori did have a blood advantage over Evan. "The way of evolution if to let the strong progress and the weak fall. So it is natural for everyone to have ambition, to move up the chain. I am no different to anyone else in that sense." He stated, trying not to give up too much, however say enough to make her feel answered.
Lea smirked. "I see. The only way to move up is to challenge and win my son. You're not blood nor female so you could never be truly alpha and because Nori is blood and the pack is only small, the blood will run thin with filth. He can only have his way with captured mares in that aspect so he is at a disadvantage and therefor also will not be able to climb any higher." She was that cruel that she enjoyed causing drama and making her pack members force themselves against each other in the process. It was so they had nothing to hold back on and so they would become stronger in the outcome. She was not going to propose anything straight forward, she would riddle him to confusing and let him think on. She knew he would understand eventually. She needed good genes and she had seen his family, they had strong features which would go nicely in her pack and now she had a pawn to help her do that.
"Indeed. It will come to that one day. When the time is right." He stated, he was not stupid, Nori was not weak and if he was to challenge him he would need to train hard and work hard. He was not yet prepared to take him on. He looked at Lea. Wondering what angle she was going for. Why she was trying to cause conflict. "How does the idea of me beating your son fall on your ears would you not want your blood to claim leadership?" he asked looking curious. Surprised she had not told him to stand down from such a thing, did she want something from him? he was being cautious. It was always serious dealings with Lea. She was good at tricking people into playing her game. "What do you want from me?" he asked, tilting his head to the side slightly.
"Nothing but what you want yourself and my line will have leadership, it will always have leadership, it's just a different kind of expectation I have for you and want from you. Defeating Nori only proves my plan is worth it and it will knock him down. You see in his position, he has chance for his children to be heirs. I can't have that happen... With you, my position is granted until further notice of my own doing." She explained, her eyes viciously searching the darkness for any unwanted listeners. As they walked together deeper into the darkness of the forest, till there was no chance that they would be found, she stopped and eyed him, her tail swaying unnervingly behind her.
"Hmm, I see. If Nori has children they are naturally in line for the throne. However my children would have to be with a pack wolf to be heirs and since there are none that is impossible. Interesting, so for the time being, me being alpha would work in your advantage. This is a surprise indeed." He smirked and wondered with her. He would have never guessed. Maybe some kind of alience could be thought up between him and Lea. "Maybe a alience could be formed. I know my rule would die as soon as your next daughter comes of age and you are wanting me to cushion the head office whilst you can conceive one. I will challenge Nori and I will win, however I want something in return." He stated, she was a women who liked to be in control. Such a deal would work in her favor. A path seemed to be opening up in front of him.
Lea nodded. He was a very smart young adult indeed and could understand her tongues mind. "Your better at this than I thought." She gave a light menacing laughter before stepping closer. "Negotiating now, are we? True leader material. Fine, what do you want in return?" She asked quite curious to know of his intentions after their little conversation.
"Well if I took the throne for you, I would have to step down as soon as a daughter came, thus I would have not moved past were I am now. If such a daughter comes I want to be promised her hand, arranged before she is even born. This way when she comes to take over I will be her second." He requested. All this time keeping Lea sweet seemed to be paying off. He smirked and wondered over to Lea, standing by her side, looking out onto the forest with glowing eyes. Today was proving to be very interesting.
Perfect. Now he got the better idea. Lea liked that thought, she knew he could make the pack grow further, his mind wasn't polluted with the rage and violence Nori's seemed to posses and knew that smarts would work better in favor than just hitting everything head on. that would be risky. "You can have her. As long as my line continues in good hands to my plan, I don't care." She stated rather coldly. Which in truth she was a selfish being but you had to do what was necessary. That's what she had come to know. "i request that you build her into something to be proud of and not shamed otherwise I will kill and retake position."
"Dont worry Lea. You will get what you want as will I. I am curious though, why do you not want Nori's line to continue? he is still your child?" He asked, he understood that only women could be alpha, however he wanted to know why Nori could not be placed on the throne whilst he waited for his children. Evan would have to do the same, however he was far from complaining, as long as it worked out for him he did not care. He knew it would always come to this between him and Nori. It was sad that their friendship carried this weight. At the same time he could not have wished for better competition
"So you still don't get it." She sighed and whipped her tail at the nearest branch, allowing it to splinter the ground in sharp needles. "Nori can only mate with outsiders. Your a member of the pack, smart and strong almost as strong as Nori for your age. If he heirs with an outsider then the chance that those children will wander off with their mother means it's a wasted bearing of children. With my unborn daughter, if you take her and second her, your children will be bound to this pack. Thus making it bigger and stronger and my blood will run thicker." She stated rather than Nori's wasted genes popping their innocence to those who aren't acceptable.
"I see Lea, with me at least you know the children will stay and flourish in the herd, I will not let you down." He bowed his head and turned to wonder back into the shadow of the forest. It made sense. She did not trust outsiders. Letting one bare heirs was worse than poison in her mouth. It was a concept he understood. "Will that be all?" he asked looking back over his shoulder to her with his luminous eyes.
"Pfft. You should know me better by now." She smirked as she turned throwing her head towards a dark cave. "Shall we? You're still my toy after all." She chuckled and turned to look towards the cave, making her way into into it and waiting for him to follow like a lost little puppy.
Evan sighed, that was unless her next litter would not be his. He thought he had got away. He turned back round and followed his Alpha into the save. He was not on his throne yet. He still had to keep Lea sweet.
