Had her father thought the same, watching them grow up. Cubs grew up rather quickly didn't they? Well, taking into account that some parents would be happy to have their kids stay their innocent little ones forever, of course they would grow up too quickly.

Not that Toh was aching for more children, Han's full mane hadn't even finished growing in yet, though the girls were already bigger than her.

She hopped a fallen log to walk the length of it, heading towards the coalition borders. The jungle ended rather abruptly and opened up onto grasslands, just miles of it. She stepped out past the treeline and began to stroll along the edge, keeping her senses open as she ran patrol, but really more than that she was just out for a walk. Msinji-- no, Riku --was around somewhere doing a proper, stealthy patrol. He was so good at it that even she sometimes had trouble pinpointing him, as well as she knew him and his methods.

Something was in the back of her mind though. She was no seer, like their beloved striped mate, but she knew something was coming that day, something interesting was going to happen.

Donte'Fao was sick of walking. He was just...sick of it. His shoulders were slumped and his pace was slow, but his pelt was still immaculately kept, despite his rarely dreary mood. He had taken a bath in a watering hole that morning, a canine trait that his pack father had taught him, rather than cleaning himself with his tongue like most felines would. It was so messy, to clean his coat with his tongue, so the bath was much better.

Chewing on some grass, thankful for the water which was trapped inside, Donte had sprawled himself on the grass. His dark coat was easy to see in the light green ground covering. He had no where in mind to go, and he had no where to go back to. He was alone. His pack father had forced him out of the pack and he was now alone. Why he had to leave, he would never know but his pack father had known best. Donte had hated him, for a little while, but had grown to accept that perhaps it was for the best. As much as he wanted it, he was no a canine. He was a cheetah.

Sighing, Donte forced himself to his feet and with a hunched posture yet again, he set off towards the forest that was nearby. He would shelter himself in the shade for a while, and then move on. He was sick of traveling. He hated the pain in his paws after a long day and he just wanted to stop, but where would a canine's feline son truly fit in? He just didn't know.

She broke into a run along the edge of the jungle after a few minutes of simply walking. As well adept at their busy home as she was the cheetah blood in her longed to run without obstacles like this. Her lithe frame carried her easily over the grass, her paws touching ground only long enough to brace her weight and push off again as muscles coiled and released in a rhythm. As she lost herself in the run she couldn't help but call out with a laugh.

"WHOOOO!!!"

She was no lion, nor a canine, she couldn't howl, and she couldn't quite roar, but there was a definite feral edge to the cheerful cry.

Donte'Fao's head jerked up, startled at the cry, which did not register immediately as a cheerful cry, but rather one of fright. When he caught sight of a running figure, he glanced behind it, expecting to see someone chasing them, but seeing none, his tensed stance relaxed and he peered curiously at the blurr of motion.

Though cheetah, Donte had never saw the enjoyment in running for fun. The canine blood in his veins was still strong, though he enjoyed some actions that seemed very 'cheetah' to him, simply...not running. He stayed still, watching the blur of colour and motion move, curious over their obvious enjoyment.

After a while she slowed to a stop, the scent of a cheetah catching her attention. Turning to circle back, panting, she spotted him on her return, shaking out her fur. Some might think that she was a very weird royal for a queen. Toh didn't much care, giving him an ear to ear grin as she felt the rush of her run still fresh.

"Well, hello there. Hope I didn't startle you." The dark cat said by way of greeting as she caught her breath.

Donte looked slightly nervous as the female approached him. She did not seem aggressive, but life had taught him to be cautious when it came to strangers. People could be deceptive, after all.

When he spotted the bright grin that she offered him, he relaxed slightly, but his body was still dense. "No," he denied. "Not startle me. I just wasn't expecting someone else out this way." He sort of thought this area was abandoned, or at least, only filled with passing rogues.

"Do you live near here?" He asked, sounding curious.

"My home is near by, yes." She replied with a relaxed smile, making note of his body language. She had to, seeing as she was more or less in charge of her family's safety. "I'm Toh Ni, I lead the Achana whose home is right beyond the trees. This is the edge of our land, not that visitors are unwelcome of course. Who might you be?"

He seemed young, his ridge of fur wasn't as big as her father's, though maybe it just varied from male to male.

His body relaxed more thoroughly as she made no move to attack or chase him away. In fact, she looked...almost friendly. At her mention of the Achana, his interest was piqued. A pride? Well, he had never really thought of joining one before, but he was alone, without his family to guide him - he still thought sadly back to his family, the one who had pushed him aside. Perhaps it was time he found a new one? One who would not turn their back on him.

Realising she had asked for his name, he bowed his head to her, trying to be respectful. She was the leader of the pride, after all. "My name is Donte'-" he broke off before saying 'fao', the second part of his name. Was he really 'Fao' anymore? He was no long the pack's young 'wolf', so perhaps he should not introduce himself as such. He forced a slight smile. "Just, Donte," he said simply.

He glanced back over her shoulder, as if to see if he could see the pride lands. He made a quick decision and hoped it would not be one he came t regret. "Do you allow new members to join?"

Toh just watched him curiously, but patient, as he seemed to hesitate with his name. Her ears did perk at the pause, but they weren't about asking invasive questions unless it concerned their safety. They had all sorts that had joined their ranks. It was a refuge for those that needed it.

"We certainly do." She nodded, dark red eyes curious but not probing. "Our only real rules are pretty far and few between, and we don't make a practice of asking unwanted questions, so I only have one: Is there any danger that might follow you here? We'll protect anyone that needs it, the only thing we ask is fair warning."

Not that he seemed the sort that would have gotten into trouble, but it was a precaution.

"I don't mind rules," he admitted, " and I know how to follow them." He had been raised well, and knew the importance of boundaries and rules to keep people safe. He had never mind rules, even if he had been a bit of a wild-child as a cub.

It was her question that stumped him. Even if he had been chased, or followed by dangerous folk, they still would take him in? It was an...interesting thought. They were accepting people then, which was good to know.

"No," he admitted, his tone rather dull. "No one wants me out in the rogue lands." and wasn't that the truth, he thought, bitterly thinking back to his former 'family' who had not wanted him, gotten tired of his presence and just cast him out.

Young but well mannered? Reminded her of herself when she was a bit younger.

"Well, you're welcome here, Donte. Come on..."

The hybrid turned back towards the jungle, looking back over her shoulder with a welcoming smile.

"Let's go get you settled."
